I agree, but I don't think Captain Marvel would get the "SHIELD agent hero" treatment. If they did her origin with Mar-vell giving his life to save her, then they have the perfect excuse for her to have an actual costume - because he had one. So far they've given the colorful uniforms to the ones who have obvious excuses to have them (and the ones who have actual superpowers), and I think that would apply to her.

Mar-Vell didn't give his life to save Danvers. He died of cancer; the story is a classic. Unless they retconned that, too.

They did. Carol puffed on too many cigarettes a day, and so Mar-Vell gave her the kiss of life, sucked out all the gunk from her lungs, and then took her cancer and died from passive smoking.

He could in the MCU.

Mar-vell listens to Sade? He's one smooth operator...

Not judging you, but just curious.

I would definitely prefer Throg to BRB. For one thing, Throg was never a usurper of Thor's powers and place; he's just a guy who got turned into a frog and found a sliver of Mjolnir in Central Park. Frog-Thor is a fun fantasy character who had wild adventures with some equally fun animal characters. While I enjoyed the books I don't think they would be used in anything other than an animated film that isn't quite in the MCU. I'd welcome a PA animated movie or direct-to-DVD film, if Marvel/Disney ever wises up and makes one.

Beta Ray Bill, in contrast, caused me to give up my subscription to Thor back in the day, which was undoubtedly not the sort of response they were going for. Everything about the character repulses me. Hopefully Marvel will keep him confined to the comics. There should only be one Thor -- and one Throg, if the Pet Avengers need a Frog of Thunder to pitch in.

I'm aware, I was just throwing that out there as the obvious way to compress her origin since I doubt they'd want to focus on one of their heroes dying of cancer when the end result is the same - He dies, she takes up the mantle. This way she wouldn't be walking around as "Ms." Marvel, the knock-off. She'd instantly be taking up title of Captain Marvel, while not disrespecting the legacy of Mar-Vell.

I agree 100% it's a total classic. Captain Mar-vell's death is probably the best written story I have ever read about the death of a comic character.

that's because she'd be the director of Project Pegasus (or S.W.O.R.D); like in the animated series.

For those who wanted to see a body count in Avengers... I think they made the right call to edit it out.

I don't think they did. Cap reflecting and seeing all of that wreckage, along with the dead body, really showed how affected he was by what was going on around him.

The civilian stuff is boring, but they should have kept that extended scene with Cap looking around at the war-torn street.

Yeah, that civilian stuff went on a bit too long, as if the waitress were a main character in the movie. I don't mind if she had featured a tiny bit - eg if Cap saved her, but the scenes dragged with it focussing on her and the cop, taking too long to show any action with actual superheroes, which is what everyone is there for, not to see everyday bravery of ordinary NY folk.

I really think they should have had the whole team looking at the aftermath. We don't really know their reaction to what happened and it could have shown us the path that the characters are headed down in Phase 2.

Yeah, I get what they were trying to go for by showing the everyday people, but it just didn't work. That would have dragged on and on if it had stayed in the movie.

That would be interesting, especially as it relates to what could be going on in The Avengers sequel.

yeah I mean, knowing some of New York got messed up and there were probably some civilian casualties sucks a lot

but they did save literally billions of people, so you can't let yourself feel too bad about it

I could see Stark and Banner being upset, and Cap somewhat because he joined the war to protect America, but the rest I wouldn't really see losing too much sleep over it.

Thor for instance, has been through many millenia of battles with casualties and collateral damage, so, while he'd help with cleanup cuz he's a good dude, I don't think he'd be having nightmares about it.

Cap, also, fell asleep in the middle of the biggest war ever to grace the earth, so battling back an invasion is his job, and he's the boss

Yeah, that alley scene was awesome.. Why did they cut that? .... The throwing himself over the car from the ground was a bit much.. But the rest was great.
