There's a difference between guessing, which is what I did with Warlock, and having an informed opinion with evidence to back it up, which is the case with Nova. Too much has happened pointing to the Nova Corps having some type of role in this to ignore.

..that's guessing my dude. lol You don't know exactly for sure, he hasn't been confirmed. Evidence or not, it is still just a guess

edit: though nevermind it's just been confirmed right? still, prior to that, it's still a guess :P

^ It hasn't been definitively confirmed yet as far as I know. Only thing that came out was AICN's rumor yesterday.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that article only say that he was approached for a role in GotG, not that he turned it down? It seems to suggest he could be in both

If you think about it, there really are very few 6'3" to 6'4" muscular and decent actors to play Drax. At that height you are already in the top 1% or less. Then factor in that you have to be muscular...perhaps 25% of that. Then you have to be a professional actor....0.1%.....then you have to the right look for the part. perhaps 5%?

That ends up being 1 out of 8 million men in the population. In the US, there would be less 20.

Even if we assume they need to be a certain height, it's not quite that bad. For males, 6'2" is around the 95th percentile. Here's some back-of-the-envelope calculations...

~66,000 actors in the US (reference)
x50% male = ~33,000
x5% for 6'2" or taller (reference) = ~1,650
x25% for muscular, or able to get muscular (using your estimate, though among actors, who knows) = ~412

And that's not counting international actors. Granted, we're also not controlling for age. As for looking the part, any big muscular dude who shaves their head and is covered in green body paint will probably look "close enough". :-)

Not saying there are hundreds of people lining up for this, but there should be enough to chose from.

So you're saying... we need William Shatner.

Done deal.

I still say you have to factor in the right look. Brandon Routh wouldn't be good in this role, for example. Also, you probably want to choose from the top actors, not just anyone. That would get you to under 30. Also, they were looking for an actor taller than Chris Hemsworth originally. I presume the actor would need to speak English fluently....so perhaps 750M people globally (divided by 2). On top of that, this actor would probably be in high demand so perhaps he is busy, as the Rock is.

I can't believe we're resorting to statistics to cast a part.

It's like applying Moneyball to casting.

Exactly lol. I'd almost love to see Batista cast just to watch the outrage. Momoa in the end, I don't think he'll be our Drax. I'm going to guess Isiah Mustafa, or an unknown.

Should Nova make an appearance, Hedlund would be a great Rider IMO.

That would leave the cast with needing a bigger name star, which leaves only Gamora. Biel could be possible. Hathaway is already Catwoman, Portman is in Thor, Lawrence is mystique, and Katniss. To me that leaves Olivia Wilde the most likely candidate

That's not taking into account the posters who identify themselves as lurkers now is it? Amateur. Stick to pie charts.

Biel in this role virtually guarantees a bomb...statistically speaking. I like Olivia Wilde.

Olivia Wilde and Gemma Arterton both needs new agents. And Summer Glau is seriously cursed.
