Looks like Jon Peters and Paton Oswalt had a little get-together.

Patton's idea come to life!

In news JJ has apparently finished STID two days ago and it is locked. So he probably is now jumping on Star Wars much more heavily now, or very soon.

I'm glad that Reclamation was fake because I wasn't too wild about it.

I just wish they would release Episode VII in May of 2016 and do it right.

Eh the May thing is not a big deal to me anymore. And they are doing it right, Kathy did say that JJ said he would only do it if he knew he would have sufficient time. That was why he was hesitant at first. They are doing it right, to me dates are meaningless. Winter is just as fine.

I would think maybe after the promotion for ST is when he'll fully jump into it, though. I just hope people dont start asking him way too many SW questions during promotion, that could be awkward.

He'll probably work on both at the same time, I'm sure he knows he has to get on Star Wars as soon as he can but I'm sure he will juggle both. However, we know people will lol. People will be asking about Star Wars left and right. I cannot wait till after STID (first because it looks great) and then we can start getting the influx of questions like that.

Kathleen Kennedy talks a bit. Nothing earth shattering, but here you go anyways lol. There's a video on the link: http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/51132

STAR WARS: Kathleen Kennedy Talks Episode VII

ClevverMovies got a chance to talk to Kathleen Kennedy on the press line at CinemaCon and talk naturally devolved to talk about Star Wars.

The first question, after asking how she managed to get Abrams into Star Wars, was about the film technology (IMAX or 3D) that would be utilized for Episode VII…

Quote:
Kennedy: We haven’t really decided yet. We’re still working on the script and still working out the story and really sort of finding our way as of to what the approach will be. But all of the technology is, of course, going to figure into Star Wars.

Interviewer: There’s a lot of talk about spin-offs. What characters are you considering?

Kennedy: We’re definitely writing those scripts and we’re determining what those spin-offs are going to be right now.

Interviewer: Are you interested in having Abrams direct the whole trilogy?

Kennedy: We’ll have to see. That’s the last thing I would put on his plate, he’s got his hands full just getting VII done. If that were a possibility down the road, of course, we would consider that.

Interviewer: Are there any other directors you have in mind for spin-offs?

Kennedy: Oh yes. There’s a lot of wonderful directors.

Interviewer: Can I get a name?

Kennedy: No.

I think she said, “Yes, IMAX and 3D,” but in a very roundabout way. We’ve had Star Wars in both IMAX and 3D before, it’s not inconceivable that we’d be getting that with Episode VII.

There isn’t a whole lot of new news here, but I felt it was worth passing along.

Great interview. Still good news Bim, it's not like we get a lot right now anyways lol. But she is right about one thing at least for the next 5-6 years they will attract (and hopefully beyond) many top talent, due to the fact that Star Wars has influenced so many film makers back in the day to get into it. It's like the Holy Grail for many as I said yesterday.

For me the spin-offs I would love to see:
  1. Something set in a very different far-off timeline to all the previous movies, I'm talking either 100 years after A New Hope(i.e. Legacy of the Force with Cade Skywalker/Darth Krayt etc) or KOTOR/Revan/Other Old-Republic story line like Zayne Carrick
  2. Kyle Katarn(which I imagine would follow the Dark Forces game story line with the Valley of the Jedi, Jerec as the villain etc)
  3. Mara Jade
  4. Boba Fett(Maybe use the storyline for Star Wars 1313?)
  5. I guess a Yoda film would be ok, but not an origin movie where we see a young Yoda, or one where we see a young Count Dooku, I'd prefer to just see a standalone story where MASTER Yoda is facing an enemy on some far off planet and maybe him chopping down say 20 or so Dark Jedi at once or something)
  6. Starkiller/Galen Marek/The Force Unleashed, his ending was left ambigous I want to know what happens to him.

This is the spin off I really wanna see, and if they do a Starkiller film in live action, Galen Marek must be played by Sam Witwer.

Count me in. I like Katarn.

And yeah, he's Gary Stu-ish... I'd say most video game characters are. Doesn't mean he has to be that way in the movie.

I never cared a lot for Starkiller, or Sam (first I saw him was in Battlestar Galatica) I dunno the character just never intrigued me that much. However my experience with him was limited to the game, and maybe he even more fleshed out in the books I have no idea, so I'm not 100% against him just never got into him. And I just doubt they will use any of the EU characters as of now, maybe in the future.

Though Katarn is my personal favorite EU character, it would be cool to see him in a film but I'm doubting any of them will.

I forgot about the upcoming May the 4th....I hope we do get some news....now I'm expecting it lol.

I told you guys that summer 2015 release date was going to be tough.

I will be surprised if it stays there.

I honestly don't think it's that tough. They basically need to be ready to shoot by sometime early next year. Star Trek Into Darkness began principal photography in January 2012, and Episode VII would most likely have a comparable post production schedule, provided Abrams goes for a similar balance of practical/CG (which we're all hoping/assuming he will).

They just need to get the script locked by the fall/winter and they should be good to go. Pre-production is already under way, and once Abrams is completely freed up, casting and location scouting can really get moving.

This will be out in summer 2015. Disney gets what Disney wants.
