I have to agree, the first IM3 teaser knocked my socks off....Thor...not so much...

Seemed more like a commercial than a trailer

I don't think my teaser standards are particularly low, and I was delighted with this one. Actually, that's an understatement: I watched it many times because I enjoyed it so much. I like that it shows a lot of glimpses rather than whole scenes--lots of yummy samples, a Thor smorgasborg. Film looks pretty awesome to me so far. To each his own!

Someone who worked on the teaser on Tumblr (Thor/Jane fangirl, you'll see her dressed as Jane at comic con this weekend) said we would get a sizzle reel at the panel. She also said she worked on the 'I would return for you' line. Its not in the movie, its a mash up of lines from Thor 1. If I remember correctly, she also said the shot of Thor falling to his knees isn't in the film, its set footage from the film.

Here's her blog: http://tallythor.tumblr.com/
and her costuming blog fyi she's amazing http://ladys3.tumblr.com/

The name Marvel and Thor may have sparked the interest, but the teaser itself in terms of quality of work was lacking a lot, and if I was the director I would have been embarrassed if that was the first thing the world saw of my film. The film just deserves better, and I know Marvel can do better than that. I'm not asking for full trailer material from a teaser. I'm asking for quality.
The trailer delivered everything I expected and it didn't look rushed at all to me, but to each his own.

In my opinion all of Marvel's trailers are run of the mill. The reason I love them all is because of the glorious content that Marvel always delivers on. I'm still waiting for a Marvel trailer with a little more thought put into it. The one thing DC has over Marvel (In terms of film) is that their trailers are always quality (Except for Green Lantern). The Watchmen trailer is brilliant.

Hey, wake up! This place ought to be on fire after the Marvel panel trailer. Lots of chatter out there.

It's all in the News & Spec thread since the trailer hasn't been put online yet.

Ahhh, I get it. Speculation never happens here.

Okay, I'll pop over to that thread then.

I doubt they officially release it until after the D23 Expo on Aug. 10th. Seems like the most logical date. Hold everything back until the last major convention/expo before the release date.

Yeah unless you were there, none of us have seen it either. Looks like the wait for D23 is going to be a Harsh wait

Marvel must have beefed up security. I remember all the stuff for the first Thor leaked on line, so did the stuff for IM2, IM1 and TIH.

Tell me about it. Was psyched up for SD Comic Con .... only to see it be the one franchise not really getting any coverage.

D23 better be good.

The non coverage was more likely due to scheduling conflicts. Still having Hiddleston in full Loki gear, calling Feige a "mewling quim" that was freaking awesome.

Finally, someone said it. Cap 2 and GOTG are both currently in production, so it was easier to round up the cast and crew and bring them over for the con, even from London in GOTG's case. Thor is in post, and its actors are likely all over the place. And if they were contracted to show up at a con, they may have chosen to have them show up at D23 instead of SDCC. And who knows, NYCC is in October and could be a big part of their marketing campaign. Getting tired of people jumping to conclusions and saying this movie's marketing is terrible when there is still so much time for Disney to ramp it up.
