oooh I always like the list game
here's mine:

1: Avengers 2: Dark Knight 3: X2 4: Iron Man 5: Spider-man 2
6: Thor 7: Superman 8: Batman 89 9: Capt. America 10: X-Men

and they're pretty diverse in terms of the studios behind them

I'm getting something of a Skyfall vibe from these visuals. I'm more than fine with that.

Hype for movie... rising..

And I'd put Thor, Cap & XFC all pretty much on the same level.

As Mark Millar said some forget the kind of comic book adaptians Hollywood used to give us.X-Men was first made In the post Batman and Robin world. The fact X-men was good and
wasn't crap like most of comic book attempts In 1990's.And remember first X-Men was made on a 75 Million dollor budget.Marvel studios spent 2 thirds of that just on Robert DOwney JR's salary on the Avengers.X-Men payed the way for what has happened since. It lit the match and then Spider-Man exploded the fire for comic book films.

First Class and now The Wolverine are embracing the more comic booky elements.

RDJ made his $50m from his cut of the Box Office, not the films budget.

About time. For a series about evolution, X-Men has been a bit slow to progress and to recognise (and keep up with) the competition.

This is often what happens to pioneers like the X-Men, who paved the way for the current trend when they hit the screen in 2000. Pioneers often get eclipsed later by others who come along and do the same thing better. You see it happen in the business world a lot, usually because of complacency and people resting on their laurels, assuming fans will turn up for anything. More competition makes fans more picky. And when they see one franchise do amazingly well, or manage to be much closer to the comics, they want the same for other franchises.

Not all of Marvel Studios' output has been very good, in my view. I bought Thor on Blu-ray, watched it once and sold it. I also sold Iron Man, which I watched twice. I never bothered buying Iron Man 2 or Captain America at all. But all those films, none of which were flops, were great at paving the way for Avengers. And I haven't even bought Avengers on Blu-ray yet. So I can't be accused of being a Marvel worshipper by any means.

But discussions and comparisons are going to happen and they are valid, because these films are all in one genre, and film commentators and fans are all watching how they perform and which ones are inspired by each other.

I normally hate this teaser of the teaser of the teaser deals, but just seeing Jean Grey again, that's the definition of real teasing, I approve.

I wouldn't even say comic book movies are a genre per se. Comic book movies themselves can be in different genres for example. I think now the saying CBM is more about these kind of superhero movies that are sprung from the same type of source material, namely american comic books.

But I digress, I get what people mean when they say CBM, just wanted to add my two cents about the term.

I don't understand how this is anymore "comic-booky" than any of the previous films. What does that term even entail?

More elements from comic books like costumes closer to comics. Some fel X-Men films haven't been Scifi enough even though mutant powers themselves are major scifi stuff. And now they are getting sentinles and Time Travel In DOFP.

It's not that they haven't been sci-fi enough, it's being closer to the look/characterisations of the comics.

Still a bit skeptical about The Wolverine. Although I love the idea of having this play out in Japan .. I just can't shake the feeling this movie will become the same as Origins.

Can't wait for the teaser. Might get me pumped.

I thought this film was supposed to be more gritty? The teaser doesn't give me that vibe...

Well...it was a six second teaser of a two minute trailer. I'd wait until you see the full trailer

That's ridiculous. We're talking about a series where the villain made a machine that changed people into mutants for cripes sake.

I love me some Famke Janssen as Jean Grey. I love her to bits. What a tease.

Yea...no way is that even a close comparison as character development DOES require time. You can roll through many different scenes of a film very quickly as this teaser does and get a feel for the colors they are using and what kind of action scenes they are going for.

And I can tell you from watching that 6 second trailer that the movie feels like it will be closer to X-Men Origins: Wolverine than the Claremont/Miller story. That story doesn't need a machine to stop Wolverine's healing powers, or give them back, or erase his memories...whatever cheap plot device they are going for. And it certainly doesn't need Wolverine flying towards the screen in 3D or explosions right behind him.

That stuff can be really cool but I don't think that's what was promised for this film and there could be a better story line to use those elements.

So the trailer premieres a day earlier tomorrow? Mangold said in his last twitter the trailer drops tomorrow, unless he means another teaser of the teaser. But I think he means that the whole trailer will premiere tomorrow because originally he said the"tweazer" would debut on tuesday and it came out today a day earlier...
