Lol...yes indeed. I wonder why they didn't use her comic book alias Ophelia Sarkisian, though that might be a restriction on the rights with Marvel (as they might use the Madame Hydra version). Dr Sarkisian would have sounded better.

And there were too many of those green outfits for sure.

I was hoping that her shedding her hair would lead to a final scene where we saw her in a black wig and outfit like the comic book version, fleeing into the shadows or into the distance.

Had Arronofsky stuck around I couldn't have seen this character being anything remotely like we got on screen.

I don't think she was even in the Aronofsky draft.

But, had the studio or producers insisted on the character being in it, he would definitely have made her a bit better - more mysterious, less comicbooky (none of the spitting green poison clouds and the other unnecessary power displays).

She was fine, one comic booky character in a movie that was this good, I can live with that. Her death was fantastic.

Maybe it's a Quicksilver situation.
I think Fox had to get special dispensation from Sony to use Kingpin for their Daredevil movie, as he was technically classified as a Spider-man villain. Whether it's the same situation here is up in the air. I know that they couldn't refer to her as Madam Hydra or reference Hydra in anyway due to the MCU owning the rights to Hydra.

No, Logan is comic booky. Yukio is comic booky. Shingen is comic booky. She stepped out of an Ed Wood film.

You don't 'know' that at all. That's just been the general assumption because the character features in other books apart from X-Men/Wolverine.

I liked that they gave her green clothes! Its the same thing with Emma Frost wearing white clothes. Though I didn't understood why she was wearing a beige coat.

And speaking of Emma Frost, Svetlana could have been a fantastic Emma Frost!

Cool Re: The Svetlana Khodchenkova / Viper Thread

I didn't mind the creative liberties taken with Viper...I enjoyed what she presented...although I would've liked to see her keep her hair...lol...cool fight with Yukio...that being said, I would've like to see this idea as well:

Viper is a human femme fatale who has been sent by an unknown second party (Hydra) to assist Yashida in the guise of a doctor like in the movie. In the last act, she double crosses Yashida an attempts to flee only to be stopped by Yukio. The two women in engage in a bladed fight with Viper getting the best of Yukio. Before she delivers the death blow to Yukio, Mariko throws one of Wolvies blades in her hand, distracting her and giving Yukio and opening for a fatal blow...Viper apparently dies...but after Yashida's death, her body is nowhere to be found.

Yep, it looked that way, though she did have healing powers. Would have been far better for her to have escaped and then see a shot of her fleeing the country (with black hair like most depictions of the comic book version). It would have left the possibility of a return.

Not with that script.
Or was it really January's acting?

January's performance of that particular line about it not being a war was terribad. I liked her less than Viper. Viper came across as threatening. Though I'm glad we're getting some fem villains.

I kind of enjoyed this Viper, she came across as a 1980s B-movie softporn vamp lady (coming from me, that's a compliment ).

January Jones doesn't seem capable of being fierce and forceful, so this Emma Frost wasn't as 'tough' as the comic book version.

Plus, Vaughn wanted that sort of cool, detached persona rather than icy nastiness.

Alice Eve would have made a much better Emma. Jones had Emma's look, she did Emma things, and they gave her Emma dialogue, she just didn't give off Emma vibe. Viper had one of the most confusing yet threatening powers in any x-film.

January's Emma Frost lacked conviction. She was pretty uninteresting because she seemed uninterested. She had the look though.

Agreed Emma Frost was more of a ****-up of a character and one that is far more popular than Viper was anyway.
