Default C. Nolan's Interstellar

March 22, 2007

Paramount Pictures has set Jonah Nolan to write Interstellar, a space adventure that has Steven Spielberg attached to direct, reports Variety. The drama revolves around explorers who travel through a worm hole and into another dimension.

The plot was informed by a scientific theory by Kip S. Thorne, a Caltech physicist and expert on relativity. His theory that wormholes exist and can be used for time travel intrigued Spielberg, who attended a Caltech workshop on the subject with Thorne and other scientists.

Nolan, who hatched the short story that became his brother Chris Nolan's breakthrough film Memento, most recently scripted The Prestige and The Dark Knight. The writer will start scripting Interstellar as soon as he delivers The Chicago Fire for Warner Bros.

Spielberg is prepping the fourth installment of "Indiana Jones" for a June start with Harrison Ford and Cate Blanchett, and he is expected to follow with a film about Abraham Lincoln (Liam Neeson) and the Civil War, based on the Doris Kearns Goodwin book.
I thought there was a thread on this movie but i searched and found nothing except it mixed in as a brief mention in threads about Indy 4 and JP4

Anyway this great news,i love Nolan's work:up:

Yep, that's how I saw it. Watched it with a group of friends and I was the only one who had some idea of what it was even about. We all liked it.

Damn, I haven't seen McConaughey's recent work, which I hear is great. I've always liked him, despite his slump a while back. He was especially great in A Time to Kill. So I'm glad to see him getting roles like this.

I like McConaughey. He doesn't necessarily have a great deal of range as an actor, but he plays his roles pretty well.

Killer Joe is the movie you need to see then.

I'll try to check it out then. I even enjoyed him in Sahara. He always looks like he's having fun with that smile on his face. He has a good personality that shows on film and it boosts the character from the page.

surprised Nolan stepped outside of the usual group. Thought for sure Leo would get the role.

See, that's why I'm interested now. Nobody could have seen this coming.

Now get ready for the "I've always loved McConoughey!" **** to be plastered all over the place before and after this movie comes out. This is why I love Nolan. He has no prejudice with actors in what they have done before and just looks at them for that role. Someone like McConoughey is a prime example.

Wow, this is pretty interesting. I always got a kick out of the fact that in Reign of Fire, McConoughey plays WAY more of a badass than Bale and actually pulls it off.

Ha, wonder if Nolan saw Reign of Fire or Frailty and thought, "Matt would be perfect for Interstellar." I'm glad McConaughey is going back to more eclectic and dramatic fare now, instead of that run of crap he did a few years back.

And yes, I think Magic Mike is part of that run. Deal with it.

More people need to see Bernie. He was pretty good in it too even if people will argue his character is sort of like him.

Tell them that playing a character close to yourself doesn't mean you can't be considered great.

Same with range in general, where some like to think the wider the range, the better the actor. Which isn't always the case.

He was hilarious in Bernie (and Jack Black for that matter), it's also worth checking out.

Will Nolan follow the classic tradition of McConaughey taking his shirt off?

Let's hope he teaches Nolan how to embrace the filth. It's the one thing he just never does

Come on dude, some of us saw the potential. When I first saw Dazed and Confused premier in 1993, I just knew, that very second, that Matthew McConaughey would be in a Nolan movie.
