Why are the Spurs always so good during the regular season but rarely pull it off in the playoffs? Always puzzling to me.

Cuz they're only good for about 86 to 92 games a year.

Because they're just really consistent during the regular season. It's always one thing or another holding them back in the playoffs though. Seeing as they consistently make it to the WCF it's just a case of them slowing down at the very end all the time. The path to the Finals is paved for them this year though.

look at Miami, they can sit Lebron and Wade and have Bosh throw up 22 and 10 to carry their bench to wins. It seems like this year is just a wait to award the Heat the chip again.

Yeah, it's easy to forget Bosh is a 20/10 guy without Wade and Lebron. With guys like Allen, Mike Miller, and Battier surrounding him they're a great defensive team with serviceable offense.

^ Do I really have to explain it for you? Lebron's contract is up next season, Kobe is leaving LA, there is really no reason for Lebron to stay in Miami beyond next year. He would be a fool to do so. Lebron has plans for his career post-NBA, and if he wants Magic money, he's going to go to LA to open those doors. D-Wade is just going to be declining after next season, and without D-Wade scoring 22+ points they're not going to be able to win championships.

Also, if Spo doesn't win coach of the year it'll be highway robbery.

LeBron doesn't need to go to LA to get Magic money. His brand is international at this point.

And I'll believe Kobe's retiring when I actually see it.

Yes, he does. It's not enough to just have his branding and be in Miami. LA opens doors that you simply can't in Miami. Miami is nice, but no one comes here for real, big boy business. LA is where it's at.

Jordan did alright without going to LA. What's doors does he need opened? What's he going to do, open up movie theaters or buy into sports franchises? Do movies? His ads/profile are already international and he has a stake in Liverpool. And I'm not convinced Kobe is going to retire, especially since I don't see him getting #6 in the next couple of years.

What is Jordan doing right now? Waffling with a perpetually horrendous team. What is Magic doing? Sweet gig on ESPN/ABC where he pretty much runs it, has his hands in multiple investments in LA, and is pretty much recognized as owning the city. Who turned out better post-career? Again, if Lebron wants that Magic money and esteem after his career is over, he's going to LA.

1) Jordan owns the Bobcats because it's his home team.

2) Jordan doesn't want to do TV. If he did, every network would knock on his door because he still has one of the 5 biggest names in sports worldwide. Too cool for that school is the sense I get.

3) To have your hands in multiple investments, you first have to want to. I don't think he has any interest in owning theaters.

4) You make Jordan sound like some joke, when in fact he could pretty much do what Magic does if he wanted to, especially since he's the bigger star. But he seems content owning the Bobcats and playing foursomes with Amhad, Tiger and Rory at Medallist. And the Air Jordan Brand ain't doing to shabby since retirement...

You're completely missing my point. I'm obviously not knocking Jordan. Of course Jordan could do it if he wanted to, but he didn't and doesn't and that is why he stayed in Chicago in the first place. Jordan doens't care about all that, but Lebron does, and if Lebron wants to do the type of stuff he's thinking of and become the type of person he wants to be, he's moving to LA. Being Lebron James is not a fast track ticket to anything he wants. There are people far more powerful than Lebron and see him being this great athlete and famous as just another notch. You meet powerful people in LA and open doors you just can't in Miami, and Lebron being Lebron does not mean he just has an easy ticket to any and everything on the road to being a billionaire. Coupled with the prestige that comes with playing for the Lakers and D12 possibly being there, then there's really no reason not for him to go. It's what's best for his future. I can't make it much simpler for you. You'd just have to live it and understand how business works to realize the difference between Lebron playing in Miami to Lebron playing in LA.

And again, playing in LA puts him in a much better position talent-wise for winning rings as well. Miami will just be on the decline two years from now, while if he goes to LA it's greener pastures from that perspective.

Again, what doors does he need opened? What kind of person does he want to be? What people will he meet in LA that get him there? Producers? Directors? He has a management team that can put out feelers on the business end. I Lived in LA for 4 years and I know how it works, once your an established star, doors have a way of opening for you, whether you live and work there, or across the pond in London England or Spain. If you are big enough they will come to you if desired. Living there just makes it more conveniant.

I don't think LeBron needs LA to attract free agents to want to play with him. We don't even know if D12 will be in LA, and is it a big deal if he is??? Will Kobe be retired? I'd bet NO. And I don't see LeBron playing with Kobe.

China is the new frontier. That is his fast track to being a billionaire on the financial end.

1.) I was pretty sure Lebron has three more years on his contract besides this one.

2.) Miami is a better situation than LA. I struggle to see Miami sucking long term in their future unless they're playing the contract game as they were in the Marion days where they were waiting for the class of '03 to hit Free Agency. They're in the best position to sign free agents of ANY team in the NBA with the biggest natural advantages outside of their team. Free Agency and the fact that they pay NOTHING for their stadium put them in the best position to sign guys financially in the league. Also, once again, state taxes. He keeps more in Miami.

3.) Magic wishes he had Jordan money... Jordan's Net worth is about 30% more of Magic's again even with the head-start on years post retirement Magic's had for investments. Somehow Jordan's managed to amass a $650 million dollar empire based outside of L.A. Even with some fun recreational hobby-purchases like the Bobcats and an expensive divorce.

4.) If Lebron stays in Miami he might not gross as much as if he were in L.A, but he'd keep a hell of a lot more of it. Again. No state individual income tax.

LeBron doesn't need LA for his future, but LA certainly wouldn't be against having him.

1.) LeBron can opt out of his contract next year. Wade and Bosh can do the same. All three will do so.

2.) I agree. Factor in that Miami's front office and coaching staff are currently more stable than LA's. And don't underestimate Pat Riley. He perfectly positioned Miami to get LeBron and Bosh in 2010, and he will make the necessary moves to keep LeBron beyond 2014. LeBron may stay simply because he's comfortable in Miami.

3.) Keep in mind that Magic only made around $20 million during his playing days, with several million from endorsements. Jordan got $30 million for a couple of years with the Bulls and of course, the Jordan brand is the biggest endorsement for an athlete ever, along with all his other deals. Jordan had a bigger jump in terms of I imagine a big chunk of Jordan's wealth is wrapped up in the Bobcats. And honestly, when you have two guys who are that rich, what does the bottom line even matter?

4.) I agree in that I think many are underselling how popular Miami has become in recent years. Unless he's interested in acting or producing movies, there's no absolute reason why LeBron has to be in LA. He has access to private jets and the best technology. He can make a deal anywhere at anytime he wants. Besides, both he and Kobe are expanding their brand overseas. That's where a lot of money will be made for the next several years, and LeBron is already in prime position to make plenty from that.

I don't see LeBron going to LA either, and I don't think it's foolish to feel the same either. Unless LeBron truly wants to move to the toughest side of the NBA I don't see him going to the Western Conference. Durant is going to own the West when Kobe retires, not LeBron.

I find LeBron returning to Cleveland more plausible than him having to stare at all the championship banners and retired jerseys in LA.

Yes, because Durant has owned LeBron thus far.

If LeBron were to move to the Western Conference, James would likely 'own' Durant for 4-5 years. At this point, LeBron is the far more complete player and is singlehandedly dominating games.

Lebron "owns" the Western Conference right now... Fortunately for the Western Conference they only have to see him half as much now as if he were on one of those teams... They're only 33-10 in the East compared with 25-5 out West.

26.4ppp, 8.5rpg, 7.2apg at .553, .371 and .752. In the East
He scores more per game against Western opponents, gives marginally more assists, shoots at a better clip... the only thing that he does better against Eastern opponents than West is hit the glass and (again, marginally) his free throw percentage.

He's better, and he makes his team better, against Western Conference teams than Eastern Conference teams.

LeBron would be an idiot to go anywhere...if the Heat win the title again i can see the 3 all stars doing what the Spurs have done and take less money to free up money and stock them with great role players to supplement them.

LeBron and Wade make assloads of money from things outside of the NBA, LeBron has EVERY opportunity available to him just because he is LeBron...LA has nothing to do with it. The Heat have also showed him just how important he is and how willing they are to actually build around him.

if Lebron goes anywhere its back to Cleveland but i see him staying another contract then going back to Cleveland.

Kobe Bryant has won two championships without Shaquille O'Neal while O'Neal won one title without Bryant. Now, Bryant always lets O'Neal know about the difference whenever he can.

"I always remind him every time I see him," Bryant said. "I saw him after the All-Star Game and said, 'How you doing, 'Four'?' He said, 'Oh, you [expletive].' [Our relationship is] really good now. We have such a mutual respect for each other."

Bryant believes separating himself from O'Neal after the 2003-04 season was "inevitable." After O'Neal's departure to the Miami Heat, Bryant admits he became obsessive over winning championships without his old big man.

When asked if he ended up being the one to leave the Los Angeles Lakers instead of O'Neal, Bryant said: "I would have went some place else and won more championships. That's how driven I was. I was just that obsessed about winning without him. Everything was about that. I was obsessive about it and there was nothing that was going to get in my way."
