Default Bruce Timm steps down as DC Animation Producer...?

Quote:
There’s a change coming to the DC Tooniverse, and not just with the cancellation of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, but in terms of the continuing series of made for Blu-ray/DVD films that began with Superman Doomsday in 2007 and will next be represented by this May’s Superman Unbound. Most notably, Bruce Timm, who has been guiding the vast majority of things DC animated since the debut of Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, has stepped down from his position as producer, initially to have focused his energies on GL and, more significantly, to develop some of his own projects. Stepping into his place as supervising producer is James Tucker.

“Bruce had done a lot since Justice League Unlimited ended,” explains Tucker, “so it’s been quite a haul. I can’t speak for him, but I think going out on Dark Knight Returns was a special thing for him. If he was going to make the break, that seemed like a good time.”
http://voicesfromkrypton.net/vfk-exc...n-as-producer/

Nothing is confirmed in terms of Bruce Timm's future with DC/WB animation... but it does seem like he's done with the movies at the very least.

I'll be very sad to see Bruce Timm leave the DC characters behind (If thats the case)... but I think this will ultimately be a good thing for him. He's far too talented to remain in a supervising producer position. I want to see him get his hands dirty again.

Plus... I like James Tucker. So, oh well.

He stepped down because it's now been confirmed that he will be godfathering the DC cinematic universe along with Christopher Nolan. Bruce Timm's cinematic work will be starting with World's Finest, in which Bruce Timm, Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder will be working with Henry Cavill and Christian Bale. From then they'll begin to make films about The Flash, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. Great time to be a DC fan.

If confirmation is your imagination... then sure.

Great news, sounds like Timm will be more hands-on involved in stuff now. Though I was under the impression that GL was getting canceled?

GL is cancelled.

Hands on with new projects... We don't yet know if he's left the DC characters behind completely. It does sound like it though.

Heck... he may move on from WB animation completely.

Timm has done more than enough for the DC Animated Universe. If he dosent want to spend the rest of his life chained to superhero animation, I can't blame him.

pretty disappointing to hear that Bruce Timm is leaving DC Animation behind. but hopefully this mean possibly being involved with potential live action DC films.

I tweeted Gary Miereanu and he had this to say...

Bruce Timm is stepping away from the DCU Animated Original Movies for a bit ... but he'll be back - in a very big way.
https://twitter.com/SuperPRGuy

So all in all I'm happy... It gets him away from from playing babysitter to the DCU movies and allows him to embrace his creative side again.

Would be so perfect. The Flash practically lends himself to animation, any of the old silver age stories would be perfect for a cartoon. Even if they branched off of Barry Allen in Young Justice that would be cool. The Flash NEEDS his show, and I know, even without a movie, he would be more popular than GL. The GL cgi show was boring anyway. But The Flash would be awesome. I'd hope for a 2D approach though.

I wish they'd make that Lil' Leaguers strip by Yale Stweart into a show. DC should buy that.

I'd rather he tackle a Wonder Woman series.

I wonder what this ''big thing'' could be. So I guess to sum up...

- Bruce Timm is still working at WB animation, but he's stepped back from his overall producer role to work on his own creative projects (As well as a few exciting DC things).

Sounds excellent.

I was worried he was going to defect to Marvel like Eric Radomski and Paul Dini.

I hope not. lol

When the heck does Flashpoint come out anyway? And WW may happen over a Flash show...I remember reading somewhere Timm would never do one for some petty reason like he can beat anyone in a matter of minutes. lol

Fall 2013... probably September.

We might hear something about it this weekend through WonderCon.

Right now all we know is...

- Kevin Conroy is voicing Batman
- It will be Flash-heavy. I wonder if Michael Rosenbaum will come back?

I am so excited for it. Very thrilled that Conroy will be Batman. Been wondering who will be The Flash myself. I was disappointed when I heard they changed it the title to Justice League: Flashpoint instead of just Flashpoint. I guess it will attract more non comic people that way, most people would be like "What the heck's Flashpoint?" I guess.

I just hope it isn't "Batman & Friends", I'm hoping for more "Flash and friends". I am especially curious about what the art style will look like for it. I'm really hoping they use the full lightning logo for The Flash and not that two stroke looking bolt he's worn on the Timm shows. That's my one major complaint about the design they gave him, I don't like that they altered his logo, I think it looks better as it is in the comics.

It's actually called... Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.

Which is a mouthful.

And seeing as James Tucker isn't all that interested in adapting the comics faithfully anymore, I wonder just what he has in mind for this movie and how close it will relate to Flashpoint (Which I haven't read).

Flash has a better Rogues Gallery, though.

Wasn't it started before Tucker was head honcho though? So how much say does he have over it I wonder? And I did not know it was being called "JL: The Flashpoint Paradox". Pretty cool.

I thought the comic was very interesting as a stand alone story, even though it only effected the entire DC Universe. Basically The Flash falls asleep on his desk at work and wakes up to find the universe around him has changed and he is not The Flash at all, Barry Allen doesn't have superpowers anymore, etc. There's a great scene where he tries to get his powers back by trying to get hit by lightning and he nearly dies. I hope they keep that scene in.

The Flash's Rogues Gallery is second only to Spider-Man's, IMO. Obviously Batman's are first. Superman's are in the top 5 at least. I'd love to see the Rogues as regulars on a Flash show. Have big **** go down everytime Reverse Flash or Grodd shows up, but the Rogues will be The Flash's regulars. So much potential there.

I'd be excited about the idea of Timm potentially doing another DC series if not for the fact that comic book-based animated series get almost no respect from their networks.

I think GL:TAS was the first series that Bruce Timm worked on since joining WB that wasn't renewed beyond the first season.

It must have been weird for him.

I don't think it was that great. Kind of took the GL out of GL for me. Was not at all much like the comic. Red Lanterns and the other colors shouldn't have shown up. They should have followed Hal's arc more.

If it were more like that and followed the comics more I'm sure more people would have taken to it and it may even be getting renewed. Even if they did a show based on the Superman: TAS Lantern I think that would have been better. I consider that to be GL's greatest alternate media appearance so far. I love Shirley Walker's theme for him, and they nail the GL character pretty good, IMO. I didn't like that it was an amalgamation of Kyle and Hal, but it was very much the GL of the comic books, IMO. It wasn't trying to be Star Wars or whatever.

I am sure Timm isn't completely surprised by the GL show not getting renewed. The Green Lantern movie didn't exactly become the massive box office success that Burton's Batman movie was, so I can't imagine that helped the GL show in any way.
