So there's going to be at least one inter league game a day? I hate inter league.

When it was split 16/14 I didn't mind it. Certain matchups would be fun to watch. But having one everyday kind of diminishes that now.

He only comes out for one inning like 60 games a year. Jeter is out there day in and day out playing 9 innings defense and offense.

I'll always remember seeing Mo play in person at Yankee Stadium in 2005. He threw a pitch that made Vladimir duck for cover. Matsui's bases-loaded double in the ninth gave Mariano the win.

I think the big difference is that Jeter has more room for failure. He can go 0 for 5 and the Yankees can still win because he has other batters around him who can pick him up. But when Mo comes in, the game is usually on the line, so if he doesn't do his job, it could very well cost them the game.

I think the one thing that goes against this argument is that Soriano was able to effectively replace Mo last season to near perfection, but overall throughout his career, Mo has that reputation to not only get the job done, but to dominate while doing it. Jeter may be known as Captain Clutch, but he's never been the type to dominate a game in the way that you'd expect someone like A-Rod to do.

That starting pitching leaves something to be desired.

So far I completely disagree. It's been great so far, went through 3 Tigers games without too much hassle. Today Hendriks did good but the Orioles are damn good and holy what the hell is Chris Davis eating

Just one game. Sure he's on the wrong side of 30 but should still provide a decent amount of innings.

There was talk earlier this week about the possibility of the NL adopting the DL rule. As someone who doesn't really watch NL games, I would hate to see them do that. I like how there's a difference between both leagues and how it requires more strategy to be used, especially in Interleague play.

I think that year round inter-league was the first step towards it. Eventually the DH will be in both leagues, then realignment to an Eastern and Western Conference format and the playoffs will expand to more teams and less regular season.

I have a feeling that's where baseball is headed in the next 10-15yrs.

I don't mind the Easter and Western Conference. I hope the playoffs don't get expanded too much more. One thing I like about Baseball is that its very hard to get into the playoffs unlike every other sport. Less regular season I certainly wouldn't complain about

Oh jeez. Hell no to playoff expansions. I didn't really want to add more another wild card team for each league. Sure having more teams in the playoffs will draw more interest but that's the reward for making it through 162 game marathon.

Also, I would rather have no DH then all DH.

Expanding the playoffs seems great because it's more games (read: more dollars), more cities will have their teams in the playoffs, and that makes everyone feel warm.

But yeah, long term I don't think it's a good thing. It cheapens the regular season. Look at the NFL, half the teams in the NFL make the playoffs, and the NFL has actually had bad teams get hot and win the Super Bowl.

That's why I've always been a proponent of the old Bowl Alliance in college football and even the BCS as it was initially conceived. It's the last team sport that manages to preserve the integrity of the regular season. People actually care about college football from week one to the bowl season because it is, in actuality, one big playoff. It's just that few fans realize it.

I don't think they'll be wild cards. It will be more like seeds that's used in the NBA and NHL. There have been slight rumblings for the past couple of years about the length of the reg season. If the playoffs were all of Sept and Oct, the MLB would steal the back pages from the NFL.

And as for the chances of a league wide DH....it's inevitable if you ask me. Pitchers have become a huge investment for teams. They'll want them to only pitch, not run the bases and risk injury costing them millions. Besides, the DH spot can extend the careers for aging sluggers.

I guess I'm just a traditionalist or a curmudgeon, but the DH had always been anti-baseball. From the DH's perspective, I don't like the idea of a guy that's in the lineup and thus in the game, yet he spends 98% of the game on his butt. That's not a good evolution for baseball. Essentially you've got guys that can't play anymore, or who could never play, and they're getting to go take rips.

As for pitchers, if you're going to have pitchers throwing at dudes' heads, which I support, then pitchers need to have plate appearances too. That's important.

Finally, I've always loved those rare pitchers that can hit.

Oh yeah, one more thing, it would basically eliminate double-switches and lessen playing time for guys that strive as late defensive replacements, and guys who otherwise wouldn't play because there would be no pitcher's-spot in the lineup. Late inning double switching and the mixing and matching can be epic, especially in the post season.
