The Braves have decided to build a new stadium for no reason

There's always a reason and that reason is money. Get ready to pay double for seats to watch your Atlanta Braves win division titles and choke in the first round.

eh Turner was always a retro-fitted Olympic stadium, that doesn't have all the "creature comforts" of most new parks. Not to mention, based on this:

http://deadspin.com/reports-braves-l...nty-1462167449

It looks like the vast majority of the fanbase lives closer to the new site as well.

If I'm from Atlanta I'd be more miffed that the Falcons are planning on leaving the GeorgiaDome already and building that "robo-sphincter" looking thing.

Mainly this. The stadium needs renovations and I think they were just leasing it. If they wanted to improve it, the Braves would be on the hook. It makes more sense for them to build a new ballpark closer to their fanbase and out of the Atlanta congestion that probably makes fans think twice about going to.

I read an article that he's doing it to prevent more concussions. I suffered only a mild one in February and I'm still not 100% symptom-free.

Tigers send Fielder to Rangers for Kinsler.

No they did not...It opens up salary for them to resign Scherzer, move Miggy to first, and give them a top 5 second baseman

THIS.

It allows us to easily resign Scherzer (and possibly add a proven closer), move Miggy back to 1st base where he's less likely to get hurt, and bring up Castellanos, who's going to be a stud, to play 3rd base. Not to mention Kinsler is a big upgrade over any 2B we've had recently, and he's got some speed which we desperately need.

Not to mention we likely got Fielder's two best years out of that contract he signed.

All it did was open up money that they're going to waste right away. Scherzer isn't worth the money they're going to spend on him. He's a good pitcher who had an amazing season. He's not an amazing pitcher. They lost a huge bat and a big threat in the lineup

Who says it will be wasted? They'll use it to patch multiple holes. The Tigers are one of the best spenders of salary in the big leagues, very rarely does Dombrowski give out a bad contract. (Ironically, Fielder's may be the one exception but it's now been unloaded.)

Scherzer has been a great pitcher for multiple years now and he's only 29. He'll be well worth whatever they pay him.

And in turn, Prince Fielder wasnt an "amazing hitter" going by your criteria. 25 HR's wasnt what he was paid to do. Not to mention he's been invisible in the playoffs the past two years.

Love Jhonny, PED's aside, but four years seems like a bit much given his age.

Agreed. He's been on the DL like 5 or 6 times since 2010. He's extremely injury prone.

All these guys are getting overpaid this year. It's the length that bothers me. In 4 years they're going to be begging teams to trade for him.

What happened with Brian Wilson?

I had heard he had signed with Detroit, now I'm hearing he's going to re-sign with the Dodgers...

Some "experts" in NYC are such morons. Most of them said, "It's a great move because who cares about years 6 and 7? It's the Yankees!" Well, you'll be caring about those years when they come

Tigers were talking to Wilson and then he broke off talks, so the Tigers went and signed Joe Nathan instead, thankfully.

Ellsbury is a good player, that contract is excessive...But he will definitely help this team. Its just price was high.

On the other hand, I hope they do not pay Cano a ridiculous $200M+ contract
