Although, I do really enjoy the Avengers theme. But I gotta agree, let's get some more memorable and bombastic music in these films.

I really love The Smithsonian.

At 0:34 Jackman quotes a part of Silvestri's Cap theme, and at 1:00 you can hear the horns of his own theme. It's like a look back to the first film with Steve being nostalgic, and then he moves on. It's a nice passing over of the theme, which I wish happened in Thor 2.

Actually, they did play the TFA theme at the very beginning of the movie, during Steve and Sam's jog.

Entertaining 20 min interview with Jackman. He even chimes in on the negative feedback the score is getting from the symphonic film score purists.

No Problem. Even though I'm normally not a Jackman fan I thought it was nice interview overall. He seems like a very nice fella.

On another note, I just realized that it seems like Captain America is the only Avenger that was able to keep/bring in his old music theme (in some form) for his Phase 2 film, whereas Iron Man and Thor both got reboots when it came to their music.

I hope the avengers get to keep their theme too, at least the main hummable bit. Please marvel!

The music in this film was amazing, I have no idea what the purists are on about

I think it would've been cool if Jackman subtlely used Silvestri's theme for brief moments during the climax when Cap was back in his TFA uniform. I guess Jackman and TPTB didn't either think of that or didn't believe it would blend in impeccably with his climax material or that they couldn't seamlessly fit it anywhere in that moment. I think it would've been a nice touch to discreetly adapt it when he was back in in his original costume, but oh well. Still was a great movie regardless the absence of Silvestri's score, imo. I don't believe Jackman's score was a catastrophe or whatever the purists are calling it either.

I think it fits perfectly with the tone of the film. It used some orchestra pieces but blended in electronic/techno elements to highlight the modern age.

The music in this movie was just fantastic

Espcecially the one when Cap is taking on the quinjet

Badass scene with a great track

A two star review of the score on Filmtracks. It's not as harsh as the other two I posted.

The score was incredible...I think people who want the bombastic, trumpeting symphonies say that because of nostalgia for the classic films...

The Winter Soldier's score fit the film perfectly. I think it's better than TDK's, which I think is the most comparable movie.

I agree and you can also notice that it even sometimes sounds like some of Zimmer & Newton's score of TDK .

Me too , I can't understand why they find it so boring , it's probably like hafizbat said , they're probably too nostalgic of the Silvestri's score for TFA and The Avengers .

So true ! I think that he's VERY talented at putting emotions into his music , at making you actually understand the gravity of the situation and that's probably why it works so dang well !

I don't see how Silvestri's Cap theme would be out of place in The Winter Solider. It worked in The Avengers, and that too had a modern story.

The score was probably the weakest part of the film for me, but even then it's not bad (certainly not a one-star score). The film is so awesome that a merely serviceable score doesn't hurt it.

I have to say, after three viewings, the score's really grown on me. I would have liked to hear Silvestri's Cap theme worked in a little more, but otherwise I really like it. Winter Soldier's theme is amazing, and 'End of the Line' brings tears to my eyes.

totally agree, that's what I was thinking reading those funny reviews.

their minds and tastes are stuck in the 70s/90s + they obviously hate Hans Zimmer and anyone who worked with him.

that's the only explanation, because I can't see what's good in those "bombastic, trumpeting symphonies" especially in action scenes where all you can hear is stupid frustrating sounds monotonically repeating "bam bam bam bam".
there's no creativity, no sensations, no touching moments. And even if they use symphonic style, they don't have the symphonic art and feelings.

I'm sick of these childish outdated scores, and most of all, am sick of whoever still likes them.

WoahWoahWoahWoahWoahWoah

I love Zimmer and RC as much as the next person, but don't go bashing symphonic composers. There's still great stuff out there from a symphony too.

I really enjoyed this score it went perfectly with the visuals in the movie. My favorite track was the end credit sequence of "Taking a Stand."
