I don't really care if Arterton is WW; I just prefer her to Lawrence and somewhat Blunt. I would like to see a new actress in the role that is beautiful, talented, and very charismatic. It has been done before so I'm not worried about not seeing a newcomer up for this role with the right director, script and producers.

Also, I like Blunt, but honestly she just strikes me all wrong for the role of WW. Don't get me wrong she is attractive, but her face is not what I picture when I think if WW. She is too anglo looking if that makes any sense. Sorry if that offends anyone. Honestly having Blunt in the role would be like having one of the Deschanels in the role....and I love me some Zooey and Bones, but just can't see them as Wondy.

Have you not seen the manip from part 10 thread? Looks like the perfect wonder woman. The Deschanels is a no. Bones would sound like a robot and zoey just doesnt look the part at all.

Zooey is Zatanna, period.

Lawrence a huge no, too baby face although a great actress. Aterton is great and i really hope her performance in Byzantium to rock because i really believe at least for now she is the most fitted person for Wonder Woman.

If WW fails, that would be a huge step backwards especially if MOS succeeds and paves the way for JL. At least when Incredible Hulk under performed for Marvel, it was so early on they had enough space to semi-reboot the character in Avengers. That's not possible if Wonder Woman fails. They aren't going to put that on Arterton's risky shoulders.
what failed franchises? not being well received by critics and failing at the box office are two different things.

I watched that film and thought that she was fine but it wasn't a breakout performance to me.

I think she is a decent but not great actor but we don't need the greatest actor ever, we need the right person for the role. I thought she was very charming in Bond and Prince of Persia and would be a really strong casting choice.

I hate when people fancast already super successful actresses for every role. Give someone else a chance to break out.

I saw the manip awhile ago. It looks great. However, though that is one of the best manips I still don't see her as Wondy

Would be happy with either.
Carano? She wouldn't even make an audition for the audition if there was one.

Back to Lawrence, I agree and disagree with you. My point being is that I don't want her reputation to cloud the film in that the director and producers want her to play WW more so as herself or like "Kadniss" rather than the role of WW. This can sometimes happen with big names when studios try to bank on the popularity of actors but they miscalculate on what is needed for the success of the film.

My personal preference is that we get an actor that makes us see WW and not the actress first and WW second. That is why I think going with a good actress that looks the part but may not be as well known or a household name be given the role.
...then get a director who won't do that. So you get the superior talent and superior recognition of someone like Lawerence or Blunt or Knightly. If the director doesn't understand the appeal of the character, then the movie will suck anyway, and getting an actress with less presence and skill will help nothing except fans' personal visualizations.

Now where are these character actor-driven blockbusters? Are you thinking about ensemble films?

Blunt isnt extremly famous. A famous actress is like Natalie Portman or Jenifer Lawrence. Blunt is a known actress and people who really know and like movies know her but shes not like extremly famous. A reg person who just watches movies most likely wont no who she is by name. This would be the movie to really make her a famous actress.

I'd see blunt playing Captain Marvel(Carol Danvers) than Wonder Woman, though she comes second in my book. Gemma suits the role of Wonder Woman better to me. Just because she isn't in critically acclaimed movies doesn't mean she is bad for the role. Wasn't Henry Cavil in Immortals? That movie didn't do well, eventhough I enjoyed the movie myself.

Failed franchises are failed franchises for whatever reason. It all depends on what affects the studios. If it's not well received by critics, then they might not be able to secure financing for a sequel. Or maybe they don't like the direction it's going like Superman Returns. There are plenty of movies that had box office success but still failed to secure a franchise. Not being received well by critics does matter.

Hansel and Gretel is getting a sequel as far as I know. ..COTT wasn't a failure because of her and wasn't a failure anyway. Sequels success didn't have anything to do with her.

POP flopping or whatever wasn't her fault.

Just because her agent sucks at getting her jobs in things that aren't great doesn't mean she wouldn't hit gold at being WW.
