In Wonder Woman's film debut i'd rather her have an eagle inspired bodice. Then later in the movie universe she sports the new double "w" bodice.

Regarding her comic costume, I noticed that some people finds it ridiculousness to be in a movie. But I think the real reason is because artist over the years have over sexualized her costume.

However in her own book, I like how Cliff Chiang draws her outfit less skimpy.

Anyone else think that if she was drawn more like this would her costume be acceptable.

she needs a skirt. i like chiangs art too, but that wont fly in a live action film. no cleavage and no bathing suit.

Absolutely. Her bust line is higher so it doesn't seem like her boobs would keep falling out. He doesn't draw a thong either. It's exactly like the sports briefs female MMA fighters wear. Chiang also gives WW an appropriate athletic figure. His WW is my favorite.

I've defended her briefs look before because people don't realize they are actually worn by women in a non-sexual context.

Thanks for the womens clothing lesson. Do you wear them?
The top gives more visual interest and isn "too complicated" IMHO.

That's childish. You don't need to wear women's clothing to know what they are.

More visual interest isn't necessarily a good thing. It's not good design. Gold attracts attention and adding a bunch throughout her abdomen looks odd. Think how that would look in real life and how it would reflect light.

No, seriously. She's won an Oscar with WB and her latest film is with them much like Hunnam. She is the right age and if MoS is anything to go by, they like putting "Oscar Winner" and "Oscar Nominee" wherever they can! Charlize Theron can play Circe!

The material they use will make a big difference.

Just compare the texture of the MOS costume to the original plastic looking pants from the WW Pilot.

Pants could totally work for WW if they use the right material. Something that feels modern, yet still otherworldly, not synthetic, etc.

On that topic, I'm not a fan of the leather-Xena look that people use so often in WW manips.

The Chiang design is slowly starting to grow on me... it's the same, but it still fixes all the problems of the old. It's an actual natural evolution of the costume for modernity.

If you're referring to color schemes it's not that exciting. A more modern approach would be to design it like sports wear.

I think this is near-perfect casting for a New-52 inspired WW movie, though probably way too many stars to be feasible, and sucking up way too much talent that could be used elsewhere in the DCCU:

Way too many big names is right. This cast has Jessica Chastain as Persephone, a character almost no one cares about.

I'm not the biggest fan of MEW as WW but I guess she's at least better than Knightley.

To weigh in on the discussion of her attire,I have always thought there has to be a way to somehow portray the briefs on film. May be, as pointed out a couple of posts ago, doing what MMA women wear could actually be the way forward. Remember Gina Carano in American Gladiators?

Lastly, Jennifer Connelly for Hippolyta?

What's childish is even making correcting someone on something so trivial to begin with.

Have you seen Game of Thrones Cersei Lannister has gold everywhere and it looks awesome if done the right shade of gold/lighting it can be beautiful.

Nothing childish about correcting someone who uses the wrong word. What's really childish is being so defensive about being corrected, and then making an immature response. It's not even a matter of semantics. It's wrong usage. Bodice and bustier are different things. It's like calling pants and shorts the same thing but apparently using proper words and making sense is trivial to you.

The whole midsection is the same color so it's not what I was even arguing. It's a completely different design. The design pattern of scales with gold trim is what I called over-complicated because of how the gold would repeatedly attract attention in relation to the red.

Well, the pants are sportswear, that's part of the beauty, but because being a warrior is such a big part of her history and story, it wouldn't make sense to not communicate that in what she wears at all. The ribbing and the metal W evoke a sort of breastplate and sandals type of ancient armor, without actually pulling away from a modern superhero look. It's really just a great design that brings together everything about the character instead of just someone's favorite part. It's still sexy, but not at the expense of being armor-based. It's still got the same basic color scheme, but not at the expense of being 4-color. It's just a really good design, all things considered.

The best part about the color scheme is that it only has three colors (red, blue, silver)... and the boots matching the shorts instead of the top (bodice?) gives it some continuity that is long overdue. The fact that the colors are darker is really neither here nor there, though it does help separate her from Lynda Carter, and Superman for that matter, it also wouldn't work for a more positive upbeat story.

Her odd origin and WB's unestablished tone approach and the new territory is why. Green Lantern failed and that had an easier sci-fi hook and had Geoff Johns's name close to the project. Even more could go wrong with Wonder Woman. That's why she hasn't been on the big screen yet.

Did you read it? Her origin isn't that odd when Greek mythology is taken into account.

Most people don't know enough Greek Mythology to take it into account though.

Of course I read it. You don't think a magic forgotten island nation of immortal women is odd? Nothing Marvel has done is even that odd. Take things into context.

She does have the most convoluted backstory out of the entire JL though. Everybody else, you can pretty much sum up how they came to be in like a couple sentences.

It's embarrassing that during this comicbook movie boom we haven't gotten a big budget movie about the most well known female Superhero. People can make up all the excuses they want I think it's just Hollywood sexism.

They made a movie about a Catwoman in name only fighting evil face cream. And it had an R&B soundtrack soley because the actress was black. Hollywood is freakining disturbingly clueless.

I got a advice for Warners; When you make a Wonder Woman film, please don't make her fight an evil make-up company, don't make it about her protecting a goddamn child, don't turn her into a man with boobs, don't make her an innocent child like moron, don't make her vapid sexy chick and please for the love of god do not allow a hack anywhere near the script or director's chair.

Also, get a female screenwriter to help with the script and at least look at female directors, you know for once.
