The older girl was such a snotty little brat. Hopefully we never have to suffer her again. You're on a other planet, stop worrying about ****ing cell service.
HER ASIDE: It wasn't the Doctor's Wife (then again what is) but it was the best episode of the season imo and probably the best Cybermen episode since the show's come back, though I think that's neither of those are particularly high bars. They really did a good job redesigning and upgrading them as an enemy but I was impressed/surprised how the episode ended up really being about the battle of the minds between the Doctor and Cyber Controller Doctor. Also probably Clara's best showing as a companion thus far. Now let's dump that older brat into a supernova or something. ![]()

It had far too much to live up to with regard to the Doctors Wife episode.
Was still a good episode though.

Enjoyable epsiode and maybe a clue as to Hurts role in the special?
When the Cyber-Doctor is talking to the real doctor in his mind he comments on how the Doctor has been erasing himself from historical databanks and so on. Then says something like " but you could be reconstructed from the holes you've left". To which the real Doctor replies: "Yes, I'm going to have to do something about that." Seems an odd thing to throw in in they are not planning to come back to it. Hurt's role could maybe be what fills those 'holes'?

I recently read that the episode was written with Victorian Clara in mind, hence the kids.

I really enjoyed the episode. The Cybermen were menacing and there is a terrific amount of 2nd Doctor era Easter eggs.

Hated the girl with a passion
"Yay, I'm having fun in this amusement park!" 5 minutes later "Clara's STUPID and ruins everything!" It came completely out of nowhere and she said "stupid" about 50 times in the episode

Is anyone starting to get a bit burnt out by this show yet?
Maybe it's just the rather disappointing season...but I haven't really been looking forward to any new episode since Amy and Rory left. The Doctor and Clara pairing just aren't doing it for me. I can't really put my finger on it.

I would imagine that's because the story arc has been spinning its wheels pretty much in place since the the show came back this year. Going into the finale for S5 we had learned a lot about what the cracks were, how they worked and we knew the TARDIS was involved and in S6 stuff happened even if a lot of it was chaotic nonsense. This year I feel like I don't know anything different than what I knew at the end of Snowmen or Bells of Saint John.
Plus I'd say the blockbuster format has been a huge mistake and already feels tired and conceptually flat with these done-in-one's. This week's episode could have been a lot stronger imo with 2 parts for example. Still, I'm not burnt out but that is probably due to how much I am into Who generally speaking but I totally see and get why one would be. Hopefully after this season is over we can get away from the blockbuster stuff and spectacle and with the whole Clara/Doctor's name mystery wrapped up get back to basics.

This is what I don't understand.
If clara is being pulled into past Doctor's era's in the Name of the Doctor, then what is going on with that filming of her in the Unearthly Child setup in the 50th? Is she still being splintered? Is the Doctor chasing her through his own past and that's what the 50th is?

That was an amazing episode. I am almost positive that Gaiman intentionally made us hate those kids so that when they got "upgraded," we'd almost cheer. Or at least subvert the kid sidekick thing.
The rest of the plot was superb. It was a real showcase for Matt Smith and his amazing scenes as the Doctor vs. Mr. Clever. I also loved Clara's interactions with Mr. Clever. This episode really was a fantastic piece of writing that reinvented the Cybermen from the poor man's Dalek (or borg) into something special. Easily the best episode since the Christmas special and I am one of those who has enjoyed at least a few of 7b more than the usual Internet whining. Bravo, is what I say.

Why do I get the feeling Clara has something to do with the hole the doctor has left by erasing himself from history.
Hopefully it's something more creative than she is the doctor or at least part of him that's been missing |

To be fair, the phrase popularized by the Borg - "resistance is futile"-was used by the Cybermen in one of the Second Doctor serials.

Well, if I'm honest that episodes had a bunch of good points, and a bunch of bad points, and a criminally under used Jason Wakins.
Yeh, didn't beat the last episode for me. Over all, I think it could have used less kids, better set up, just longer in general actually, less kids, and a better use of Jason Wakins. I mean he's been brilliant in everything, but then he was really dull in this.
