After seeing trailer #2:

Opening weekend: $120 million
Domestic gross: $275 million
Worldwide gross: $700 million

This will change especially I'm so excited right now and I might not predicting this well at the moment.

Long Range Forecast: 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

Quote:
Not to be overshadowed by Disney's onslaught of Marvel superhero movies, Fox will roll out X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23, a new entry that wisely combines the cast from the original trilogy with the cast from Matthew Vaughn's beloved prequel X-Men: First Class. This week BoxOffice takes a look at the film's commercial prospects.

X-Men: Days of Future Past
(20th Century Fox)

PROS:

- It's the only major blockbuster opening during Memorial Day weekend, and that's a huge advantage.
- Fans of the franchise reacted very well to X-Men: First Class, so we're betting that a lot of that goodwill is going to carry over.
- Combining two very popular casts is an intriguing decision that looks like it's going pay off quite well.
- Activity on Facebook and Twitter is very encouraging.

CONS:

- The relatively underwhelming $417 million global haul of 2013's The Wolverine has us a little worried.
- The summer season is typically crowded. If The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and/or Godzilla overperform it could have an adverse impact on Days of Future Past.

Opening weekend: 103 million
Domestic total: 221 million
http://www.boxoffice.com/featured_st...of-future-past

According to BoxOffice.com, they are projecting Godzilla will outgross Days of Future Past and I just hope they are wrong.

I've seen people here use the arguement that a poorly recieved prior movie can affect the new movie in a negative manner.

Examples such as:

Hulk affecting The Incredible Hulk
Batman & Robin affecting Batman Begins
X-Men Origins: Wolverine affecting X-Men First Class

I bring this up because Godzilla 2014 should have the supposed bad will of Godzilla 1998. From everything I've seen there doesn't seem t be any such concerns with the previous movie tainting the new one in terms of box office performance

I don't see much appeal in the Godzilla movie apart from being the usual disaster movie of the summer. Well we had World War Z last summer, it didn't even outgross X2. There was also Pacific Rim, which was less fortunate at the box-office. So I don't see it outgrossing DOFP in the U.S.

16 years between films. That's the difference.

Yeah.

If this was 5 years after a terrible Godzilla, things would be much different. People are ready for a new one and no longer have the last flick on their minds. Plus they are marketing this one smart, mysterious and intense.

Not sure about how high the box office gross will get here though.

As for DOFP. Sticking with around $700-750m ww total. Gonna be huge 3D International numbers.

Domestic inbetween $200- $250m. Don't see it above 250 in the States. Which alone would be a huge increase compared to the past 2 X flicks.

For what it's worth, there have actually been several Godzilla/Gojira films between the American films.

Anyway, I'm far from a box office expert. I'll just throw out a guess of $500-$600 million. I think it will under perform Fox's expectations a bit based on its massive budget, but it will still make a good profit. I could see Apocalypse getting a reduced budget, though.

Don't underestimate DOFP, everybody I know is excited for it. Plus when the first trailer came on in the theater, everybody got excited. An old man explained to his wife that it looks great.

When a movie costs over $200 million, international box office is probably going to be pretty important. I'm pretty sure Fox is banking on a better overseas gross this time. They certainly need it if they want Apocalypse to be an even larger film.

Yes, I was referring to domestic/U.S. box-office. Not worldwide.

Based on cap's likely 100 million+ opening weekend It's clear DOFP will be beaten Domesticly and overseas by both winter soldier and Amazing Spider-man 2. I still think It can beat GOTG.It's best hope Is 6th this year after Cap,Spider-man,transformers,Part 1 of final Hungar games, and last Hobbit.

My box office prediction

Opening weekend:100 Million
Domestic:220 Million
Overseas:350 Million
Total WW:570 Million

That's questionable of course. Singer recently said that Apocalypse is going to have some major destruction. Here is the actual quote from Variety.

Quote:
“‘Apocalypse’ will have more of the mass destruction that ‘X-Men’ films, to date, have not relied upon,” Singer said. “There’s definitely now a character and a story that allow room for that kind of spectacle.”
The only reason it would have a smaller budget is due to not having to pay both the OT and FC casts.

Unfortuly that could be the reality. Box office.com has 102 million opening weekend and 221 Million domestic prediction.

They had cap at 98 million opening weekend and 248 million domestic and it's looking like that Is eather coming true or underestimating It.

It's looking all but sure that DOFP will come In behind both the Amazing Spider-man 2 and Captain America The Winter Soldier.Box office.com also has it behind Godzilla.

No reason to think x-men can't out gross cap. They predicted $98 million opening weekend; and now it MAY gross just over $100 million for its opening weekend. That's really not too far off from their original prediction

Right now it doesn't really look like caps going to make 100 million + OW, but I am almost sure it'll beat DOFP dom. Not sure about worldwide though.
I can't really estimate how much DOFP will increase from The Wolverine OS.

They had cap at 248 million total domestic with a 98 Million opening weekend.Considering how accurate so far they got cap's opening weekend they may be
right. Box Office mojo has a 96 million opening weekend prediction and some are saying it could hit 100 Million or more.Granted the 100 million and up talk may be overestimating it.

If DOFP can hit 102 million on opening weekend that Is what LS did on it's opening weekend back In 2006.

I think we will definitely get a higher over seas number. I would be very surprised if there is less then $100m difference between this and The Wolverines gross.

Cap Is guranteed to beat DOFP overseas. Thor the dark world with 65 percent from RT made 438 Million overseas Vs 206 Million Domesticly. WS will gross In 400 million range.

DOFP only chance was to beat Cap Domesticly. That chance is almost certinly gone.

The wolverine grossed 282 Million overseas so I have no doudt it can hit 300 Million with X-Men characters from both trilogy and FC joining Hugh jackman.

Box office.com has predictions of

The Amzing SPider-man 2-OW-112 Million DOmestic 265 Million
Cap-98 million OW 248 Million Domestic
Godzilla-OW 75 Million DOmestic-235 Million
DOFP-OW 102 Million DOmestic-221 Million
