I finally caught up with Hickman's Avengers and am absolutely loving it so far, but then again, I'm a DC (and X-Men) guy and am reading more of the general Marvel-universe stuff since Marvel Now began. I've never read an Avengers book before, so if things have already been done in previous books, I'm not aware. In that sense, there's an "ignorance is bliss" sorta thing going on.

Hickman's ideas are pretty original. He's writing threats of an epic level, which definitely justifies the assembling of such a team more than some prior writers. I'll take world-changing mutations and universal apocalypses over ninjas any day...

I know that Spoons and I are about the only ones who would be excited about this, but...

As much as I'm excited about that, why do people only use Prodigy? There are other Slingers, too.

Ricochet was used in Runaways, which was awesome. I just want to see all the Slingers back together.

Wrong Prodigy. The one they're talking about is the former mutant from New X-Men.

The better Prodigy in my opinion

I liked the Slinger Prodigy in an Avengers book also, though. He'd be a cool Young Avenger. Heck, I'd like to see him graduate to a bigger team. He's a great character.

I'd also like to see Ricochet join an X-Team. Hornet was cool but he's long dead. Dusk I was never a huge fan of.

The first Cable and X-Force trade is coming out tomorrow. I flipped through a issue in the shop and it seemed kind of bad, most peoples opinions near the start seemed negative, so I'm wondering if I should just skip it?

It was the first Marvel Now book I dropped. I just couldn't get into the story or the characters. I'm not sure how good it got after the first two issues.

I stayed with it for the first 3 or 4 issues but was just bored by the plot. I liked the characters, and Larocca's art is pretty, but the story isn't anything to write home about... though skims make it seem like it improves some.

My opinion, it wouldn't be a waste of money, but I'm sure there are other trades that are better.

The only good things about it for me was the return of Boom Boom/Boomer/Meltdown as well as the Dr Nemesis and Forge double act.

Colossus has gone back to being whiny and emo. Cable is really boring in this book.

I always thought Vulcan had potential to be a good character
would love to see what Remender could do with him
He'd make him a badass and clean up that convoluted backstory like he did for apocolypse

After getting Daniel Way to "sign" my copy of Deadpool #1 on FCBD, I think I am now in the "Way sucks" camp. He basically looked hungover like he didn't want to me there, and instead of anything resembling a signature, the cover now has a place where he just took the pen an swirled it around in a circle over and over.

If he were constantly hungover, it would certainly explain his writing.

This is nothing new. My bud is a Deadpool cosplayer, he and his buddies met Liefeld at a con and he was genuinely friendly, receptive and happy to see their costumes. They met Daniel Way later and it's just like your story; he seemed miserable, just didn't want to be there and was not that personable to say the least.

Eh, some people just aren't built for those hours and hours of signing autographs and being friendly to fans. Kind of makes me wonder why Way goes to cons at all, but whatever.

not made for fan signings, not made for actually writing comics, what is it that he's actually good at?

Liefield being friendly gives some explanation for why some people still work with him

but does Way ...ummm... mow Joe Quesada's lawn or something?

If you are going to work a Con show, you should at least still be nice to people. There is no good excuse for being a dick to your fans.

The more I think about it the more I'm realizing that I'm getting bored with Waid's Daredevil

It's like, I get excited while reading it, but I can't even really be bothered go remember what happened after I put it away. When I think of titles that I enjoy, I typically think of the ones that I keep coming back to and Daredevil is never that book. I got real excited and started picking the book back up when I saw Mia Donovan, and I think that excitement carried me for the next few months until now because I loved Mia in Bendis and Brubaker's runs, but that's fading and I'm finding myself a little bored again. I'm sticking with it, but I'm finding that I just don't care for the feel that Waid is creating for Daredevil. I know everyone else seems to love it, but it just doesn't fit the book in my opinion.

I mean, I got excited during the issue where we learn that Foggy might have Cancer, and now I don't really care if he lives or dies. Though I love Daredevil and Foggy, my interest in Waid's title is steadily declining and it makes me sad

And the more I think about it, I question if it's even Waid's writing that I dislike as much as the art. If Waid was telling the exact same story but with darker art, I wonder if I'd appreciate it more. I just feel like this lighthearted comic is about as "in character" for Daredevil as Schumacher's Batman was "in character" for Burton's films.

Daredevil was a swashbuckling jokester long before Frank Miller came along. It's in character. Whether it's your preference or not is up to you, but it's in character.
