Default Franklin D. Roosevelt

I've seen a few articles on FDR and the Jews recently (think someone wrote a new book), and it seems kind of relevant, since its holocaust remembrance day.

Granted, it was the early 20th century, and people were by and large bigoted in those days, but FDR is starting to sound like an early thirties Nazi.

He's gone down a few notches in my book. A great leader, but between this and his personal life, he does come off as a rather contemptible person.

I'm curious as to what others think.

Well, my mom's Jewish (needless to say, so am I) and she's always been critical of the fact that FDR was apparently aware of some of the concentration camps for years but never bombed them. Most of my extended family on my mom's side was wiped out in the camps. She thinks they could have been saved with more decisive action on the President's part. But who knows?

Canada's wartime Prime Minister Mackenzie King was also one of the most vocal anti-semites in the country during his time. If not for our ties to the United Kingdom, Canada might well have fought WW2 on the other side.
