Could be. Maybe they're still trying to track down McXavier.

Moira did what she had to do to distract Magneto, and it worked. He stopped controlling the missiles to defend himself from the bullets. It's was Erik who was stupid, throwing the bullets around (and totally forgetting about Charles behind him) instead of simply stopping them mid air.

That scene is the one aspect of First Class that I hate with passion. In a swift stroke, they reduced one of the sharpest and bravest characters to a moron to achieve the ...Separate Peace tension.
Could you explain yourself better? Who's a moron?

I'm in Montreal currently. Does anyone have any idea where scenes are being shot today?

Not sure about where scenes are being filmed. But I believe they're based at Olympic Stadium, that's where the trailers are or have they moved. Not sure sorry.

They are not downtown today but Olympic also I am sceptical. I think they already did the Olympic park. In anycase, they are inside you will never know Wait till Wednesday because it seems there will be more shoots with extras so they are sure to say where it is at

Thanks.

Loving all these outdoor shots, though. FC lacked an authentic outdoor scene until the finale.

All the X-Men movies feel quite claustrophobic. I guess it makes sense since mutants are social pariahs and all, but I in the same boat as you.

I like the claustrophobic atmosphere, it's part of their magic . There're plenty heroe movies with big outdoors drama.

I liked it on X1 specially. the intimate take, more drama oriented, I loved that.

But I think now its time to expand the x-men world and show whats happing out there on the streets, both at night and day.

The audience have to learn new things from this complex world full of mutants. How the humans use to react, the citizens, the police.... friends of mutants, maybe on high schoold.

Stuff like that, u know. From time to time, of course, not during the whole movie

In X1 through X3... EVERYTHING looked like a set. And for some reason, this was especially true for X2. The museum, Bobby's house, Bobby's front yard... even the white house (while authentic looking) felt like it was plopped into some pocket universe.

So in that sense I love the outdoor settings! I think FC was a step in the right direction in making the X-Men seem part of the real world. Even the interior scenes were more convincing.

Yeah, Guy Dyas was a genius. Shame his career skyrocketed after his work with Singer and wasn't free to work on DoFP.

Well, not in my opinion. The church looked great, but that's because it was real. The museum was fine, but pretty obvious that it was just a building dressed up to look like a museum. The mansion interior was built really well to imitate the one from X1. Stryker's base was ok but nothing special. The jet looked like cheap plastic.

No, I'm actually not. I know it's a nitpick, but the X-Men movies have never looked polished until FC.

The movies are so frustrating to me because I'm such a fan. They (X1, X2, FC) do so many things right but really lack that extra something that would make them inspiring. X1, X2, X3, and Origins... you can see thru the cracks and honestly there are parts that look like they're Syfy Channel movies.

Maybe I'm just scrutinizing them too much, but in most movies, I'm usually never taken out of the movie by something looking fake... but that happens all the time with the X-movies.

I liked the museum.

The museum is an outdoor location called Plaza of Nations, it's a glassed open building, with a casino and some clubs. It was used in Fantastic Four, where Johnny and Ben were arguing and Ben smashes a red car into a ball. Was used in Final Destination 2 (?) too where that actor that played Iceman's bigoted younger bro in X2 had his death scene (spoiler!) and the glass flattens him.

Bobby's house in X2 is an actual house in Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, close to EA. Bobby's front yard, of course, would also be a location. I think it was mentioned that when Pyro does his fireballs, it got really close to injuring some of the people in that police car.

No other way of doing an oval office scene, other than doing complete CGI

In that case, Shaw's office at the beginning of the movie, looked like a set. His sub (talk about claustrophobic) looked like a set. His yacht, especially when Erik first approaches the Hellfire Club, looked like it was floating on a tub of water inside a studio. I can go on.

Look, there's no need to go banging your head. You can go on and on, and I bet you I can go on and on more. I already admitted it's a nitpick of mine. But I stand by it. I know that some of the locations aren't sets. I don't think I called Bobby's house and the museum sets. I know the "museum" is a real building... I've watched all the DVD features. I said the museum was obviously not a museum and looked like a dressed up room, which is exactly what it was. Bobby's house just looked fake and the exterior didn't look like a real neighborhood... IMO they picked a bad location. That's all.

As for sets, the Oval Office is a good one, but there are shots where you can see out the windows, and it looks like there's nothing out there. It's a nitpick, but I always look at the details. I complimented the mansion and think that Stryker's base was ok. The "Weapon X Lab" is pretty good.

The FC sets were more detailed and convincing IMO. Yes, I know they're sets, but they were done well. Sets sets sets. That military ready room was great. I think the Russian headquarters was a dressed-up bank, and that looked beautiful as well. The Hellfire Club lounge was AWESOME. The sub had a cool lounge as well. The yacht looked fine to me (and when they were ambushed it looked like a real body of water when the police rafts were approaching). Shaw's office looked good, but the shot of the lab was pretty fake (in fact I think it was fake), but at least it was menacing. If I were to nitpick about FC though, I think the final act looked really cheap. But the jet interior looked made of more convincing material than the X2 jet.

EDIT: Regarding what was a set or not. I see the confusion in my words. I said that EVERYTHING looked like a set, and then proceeded to list locations including Bobby's house and the museum. I'll clarify. I know that the OT used a combination of sets and locations, but everything (whether real or not) looked like a set to me. That's all. I didn't mean to make a big stink. To me it's a big deal, but I see that for most it's not a problem.

And don't forget Cerebro 1.0. It was a definitely a set. And the FBI's office looked like a set.

I guess the only really impressive thing about First Class, in terms of the sets/location are the establishing shots. Though I love the look of the Hellfire Club and their lounge.

Oh yeah forgot about those. Everything about that secret mutant research facillty looked bad actually. The CIA office looked fine, but that facility... haha.

See I don't think everything in FC worked. It just had a lot better stuff to work with... 60s fashion (i.e. an established period look vs. the unknown time period of the OT), mid-century decor, and (probably most importantly) international locations to portray and/or beautifully mimic.

My original comment about lack of outdoor sets was in direct response to First Class. The ending scenes are great because they're actually on a beach. But nearly everything else in the film is in door sets and green screen.

When it comes to outdoor on location shots, X2 takes the cake, followed by X3. First Class would be last for me. The production was just so rushed that nearly everything was filmed at Pinewood Studios.

That's totally not true.

They filmed on location at the real Oxford University. The mansion was the Englefield House in England. They filmed real shots in Russia. I don't know where they filmed that scene between Erik and the banker, but that looked like a real Viennese/French/Belgian building.

Here's a link for much of the locations:

http://www.movie-locations.com/movie...l#.Ubagkeujhhw

There was A LOT of exterior, on-location shooting in FC.

I apologize for the head banging!

It just seemed like there was a lot of nit-picking for the sake of nit-picking (which you readily admitted to), and lambasting one film for doing one thing and giving a free pass to another for the exact thing. Funny thing is you complimented Stryker's base, when I thought it looked like even the walls looked like styrofoam.

I had my problems with FC, I would count the ways but I'm tired. The constant jumping around countries was a mess. People might say it gives it an epic feel. I think it makes the narrative indecisive. But that's more to do with the script. But I agree with psylockolussus, the establishing shots were good. The tracking shot of Magneto walking towards that bar in Argentina was beautiful.

Disagree with X3. Especially how they made Vancouver double for San Francisco. What were they thinking?
