It was to me. Everything else wasn't really anything to make it feel more "grounded" or "realistic" than Raimi's trilogy.

Agree with the bold. It has to do more than the script than a feeling of one's being more grounded or realistic or however you want to name it.

I wish people wouldn't even talk about the Webb and raimi trilogies in the same sentence.
Topher Grace? Lol.

I've always disliked the term "grounded."

this isn't a rhetorical question by the way.
Electro was yellow for a while in the ultimate comics (only comics he was ever blue in) before he turned blue. He was yellow in his origin and during the first sinister six.

The blue look to electro is relatively new in the grand scheme of things.

It first happened on the mtv animated series (where it was based far more heavily than it is now i might add) then it turned over to the ultimate comics, and ultimate spider-man cartoon.

616 aside from a very short lived blue suit in the late 90s, has always worn a yellow and green costume

No you're trying to hard to connect a reference for a joke. If he had his star fish mask than by all means... Call him Lisa Simpson (her head is typically referred to as looking like a star fish) but the simpsons comparison as a whole is an incredibly lame joke. Not only that but it still serves no point (Oooooohhhh you can link one yellow cartoon to a yellow electro "so scared", we can link 50 to a blue electro -___- )

This isn't about electricity color... He's obviously corporeal and not made up of electricity in those shots.

This is about physical appearance

at least the blue is taken from the comics.

if anything, people who dislike the blue (which, you know, is fair enough, we all have our aesthetic likes and dislikes) should be arguing for jamie to simply have his natural skin tone. from there, you can state that his electricity should be yellow like in the comics.

to legitimately think he should have a simpsons-like pigmentation is just odd to me, sorry guys.
See all of the previous posts.

Also i would rather he be neither color. But considering the blue zombie look is still a relatively new look and only found in the ult universe its far from iconic . The yellow would at least be a nod to his iconic look. Though id much prefer him with a normal skin tone. Black suit with yellow embellishes on it and if i had that.... I don't care what color his electricity is. Blue electro in general is incredibly generic looking which is my point the entire time

Actually, it was in USM before being in the MTV cartoon, which actually was conceived as an adaptation of the USM comics but it was reworked to capitalize on the success of the first film.

So yeah, Electro looks like USM Electro in that show, because he was supposed to be USM Electro.

Though only difference is, MTV Electro was living electricity; he was electricity.

USM Electro just turns into a blue form when he reaches his highest power level, but he never actually becomes electricity.

"Generic and noticable"? Noticable, how? Like, people in the movie universe would recognize him as Max Dillon or the audience would recognize him as Electro???

Was Bane generic in TDKR because he was a normal looking dude with a mask as opposed to a 7 foot tall, veins bulging, muscley dude like in the comics? I'd say no. It was the characterization that made him unique and memorable. It's a common pitfall of superhero movies to rely on the visual appearance of the character to speak for them and make them "unique" (which is important in a way- don't get me wrong).

I think a more subdued, approach would be a nice change of pace actually. I'd prefer "Jaime Foxx" with powers and a unique suit rather than turning him into a colorful, CGI enhanced "freak"- which is exactly the expected thing to do.

Yes it is.

In USM, prior to turning into his blue form, he was just a white guy.

With the exception of some burn scars on his face, he had a normal skin pigment.

He just shot yellow bolts of electricity. He himself was not yellow.

So.... your point was? Because either way, it's a dumb joke to justify ones dislike over this.

No. Not really. That's like saying getting hit by a car and breaking your arm is better than getting hit by a car and breaking your leg. You are still getting hit by a car, and in this case, you are still making a stupid, childish, and reaching joke/reference as an excuse justify not liking something.
