I am actually excited for the movie. This movie will definately be different than other spidey movies. It won't be compared to Rami's movie because the stories will be totally different and universe will be totally different.

And I never said you were wrong but they might have presented a fire guy instead of electricity guy had they done that even if he looked how you described.

to me, this would have at least looked recognizable as electro to me... but to each their own.

and no... this does not look anything like a man on fire ...

Yellow. Blue. Eh...they both work. I'm much less concerned about his look than how he's presented. Jamie's performance. etc.

Just wanted to make a comment on Marc Webb lacking imagination. While I can sort of understand that opinion based solely on TAS-M, I look at 500 Days of Summer and see a movie which, to me, was very imaginative. It's completely different from any other romantic comedy, and there are some great stylistic and directorial choices that elevate it to one of my favorite movies. That's saying something, considering how dumb the majority of romcoms are.

The biggest problem with TAS-M was that it had to retread so much familiar ground. Marc pretty much had his hands tied in terms of the story that they were telling, although in my opinion he told it well. However, I agree there's a lot of room for improvement. And I'm betting the sequel will be a much better indication of Marc's imagination and creativity when it comes to the Spider-Man universe. I really feel we're going to get something fresh and exciting. But I'm a big believer in Webb, so what do I know?

I'd like to point out when i say "blue-zombie electro" isn't imaginative... it's got nothing really to do with mark webb as a whole (i also don't know who ok'd this design) the design its self.. isn't really imaginative when put up against all the other blue characters that saturate movies....

that being said.. I don't really want anyone directing Spider-Man films to be as "imaginative" as Nolan's batman films... Nolan has a great feel for the detective side of batman.. but the fantasy side he failed at miserably... I don't want to watch batman and have him transported into my ultra realistic "real" world. I want him to be transported to his. That's something the marvel films do very well... they make us believe their world... could be real.

The nolan films are great for what they were, but to me they're still far from the definitive batman film... hopefully that next franchise will be more like the Arkham Asylum games

I know it's better than nothing. It's just that some people expected an Electro reveal.

No need to get snarky.

Trust me, this is not arrogant, it just sounds ridiculous. No one can make a film that will appease to every single fan.
Meh, it was mediocre at worst for me. At its best, it was honestly pretty cool. The best thing that came out of the movie for me imo is I was more excited for the sequel than I ever have been from the first movie in a franchise, although being a Spidey fanboy has a little to do with that. The movie wasn't franchise destroying bad like Green Lantern. If you want a movie thats mediocre at its best (which is probably for like a second), its that movie imo.

There were more than few places where TASM felt more like "lets get this obligatory origin done with" even though they were really hoping not to do that. It got to that mainly because Sony decided to cut all the extra scenes about Peter's parents and such. But they did it, and of course, the story suddenly got a lot more generic. But for a generic story, the acting, dialogue and rest was likable enough for me to accept the characters and come to terms that this movie is never going to be great.

But the sequel showed promise from the second I started thinking about it when I walked out of the theater. And I'm praying it raises the bar as much as I'm hoping it does.

As for safe, I dont care. Anyone who says anything about Avengers story is 'risky' needs their brain checked. That was a pretty safe story and look how entertaining it turned out to be. Safe or not, just make a good movie. They're already going into risky areas with the parents angle.

Hahaha, you think awards determine the quality of a movie. When will people learn.

(By the way, not only are awards meaningless a lot of times, but superhero movies are ALWAYS passed up for oscars because idiots don't find them to be "important" subject matter.)
