The main launch seems to be in a bunch of European countries and Taiwan, and then it moves from there.

I didn't realize they'd gotten rid of the spoiler/non-spoiler forums. Barely anyone ever used the non-spoilers ones anyway.

I like how xeno000 has turned this to an attack on the character, which the producer of this and all Marvel Studios films has been hyping up.

It's opening on the 25th in the UK and on the 24th in some other countries. China gets it the same day as North america (May 3rd). Not sure about Japan, but I don't think they have to wait three months like they did for TA.

Honestly I was so hyped to this movie until that "twist" was mentioned here, still going to this but I'm not that excited anymore.

I haven't read what exactly the twist is but assuming it's what I think it is based off of all the whining

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
What the hell are you guys even upset for? The Mandarin has never been a major or respected villain enough to where it would bastardize the character to have him be nothing but a mouthpiece.

I think it's just the opposite, and this is an example of *great* writing. The Mandarin Twist upsets people who were looking for the Saturday morning cartoon version (Fu Manchu with a bevy of super-duper power rings), but for everyone else, this represents a great plot point that flows organically with the rest of the story, and is far more believable than *any* aspect of the comic-book version of the character.

And for the record, anyone hating on Mandarin as an INO ("In Name Only"), might as well hate on the whole damn movie, because you've got an INO Iron Patriot, INO Aldrich Killian, INO Firepower, INO Coldblood, and INO Ellen Brandt, none of which even remotely resemble their comic-book counterparts physically or in story sense. And hey, they INO'ed Whiplash and Justin Hammer in IM2, and Yinsen and Obadiah Stane in IM1. Jarvis himself is *totally* INO'ed. And the case can be made that even Tony Stark, Pepper Potts and James Rhodes have been significantly changed from their comic counterparts.

So hey, why not just boycott the whole damn franchise, because *clearly* everyone hates what they've done with it.

Naturally Marvel has been promoting Mandarin, but that does not mean that the comic book version of the character was this great villain and nemesis some fans have made him out to be. Nor does any of this mean that the Mandarin of the MCU won't turn out to be a great character in his own right, distinct from his four-color counterpart.

As a young kid I read the very first appearances of Mandarin, when he was a cringe-worthy Yellow Peril stereotype. That portrayal was in line with the times in which it was created, of course, and Mandarin's image has evolved for the better over the last five decades. He definitely had some potential, most of which has gone unrealized. Mandarin was never given great material in the comics like other villains and thus he has never had the iconic status accorded the likes of Doctor Doom, Red Skull, Loki, Ultron, Green Goblin, etc.

Given that Mandarin's comic incarnation wasn't really all that wonderful, Black & Pearce had to basically take the outlines of the character and shape him into a suitable villain for their vision of Iron Man. Personally, I liked the magic rings and absolutely loved that silly purple pants-wearing dragon Mandarin hung out with in the comics, but I understand why those elements were not ones that Black felt comfortable using. The few critical reactions that have been published thus far indicate that Black, Pearce and Kingsley have delivered a version of the Mandarin that works on all levels in the film. I am content to wait until I actually see Iron Man 3 to decide whether or not I agree with that assessment.

Unsurprisingly, some fanboys are NOT happy with the film's big twist...y'know without seeing it with their own eyes first... Typical.

Iron Man 1, terrorists secretly working for a corporation.
Iron Man 2, terrorist working for a corporation.
Iron man 3, mandarin twist.

I'm looking forward to this film don't get me wrong but the twist isn't particularly surprising.

Allegedly, the post-credits scene is one of Tony talking about his problems to Bruce Banner, who seems bored by it. Nothing about a mid-credits scene yet, as it may have been withheld from the early screenings.

Yeah it would be a big twist,

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
if the 'fake' Mandarin was actually playing Killain all along, and knew Killian was using him as a pawn, although it kind of takes away from the other twist, I guess. I doubt it'll happen, but I can sort of see it. Might be the Mid-Credits scene, and Marvel ommited it because of this?

I don't really think so.

Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Kingsley "Mandarin" isn't even who he claims to be...he's not a terrorist at all, but instead a British actor hired to portray a boogeyman invented by AIM/Killian to justify a war on terror. I don't see how that allows for the actor to come back later and say he was really a terrorist all along.

I'm reserving final judgment on this twist until I see the film, but I don't see how some people can say that the Mandarin isn't Iron Man's archenemy when that has long been the tradition of the comics. So I can't blame some people for being annoyed by this approach.

I don't think anyone has or would put the Mandarin at the same level as names like the Joker, Loki, Lex Luthor, Red Skull, or the Green Goblin. Or deny that Iron Man has a very weak rogues gallery, where as we've seen with IM1 and 2 require some reinventing to work on film, but the Mandarin is the closest to an archenemy that the character has.

I mean, I think the vast majority of people expected the character to get a revamp if he were to ever show up on film, and probably even welcoming of an updated take.
