Yes, because the earthquakes symbolize things are getting quite 'rocky' for Superman. Dark Elves are just Dark Elves.

Here's my problem with your posts. I have no problem with you disagreeing with me, I'm sure many people like The Batman and FilmNerdJamie disagree with my thinking that Supes needs a physical villian for a film. What I don't like is the implication that I am a simplistic thinker just because I don't want to pay to watch a 200mil movie about Superman stopping earthquakes or what have you. It's a personal thing, if that is your cup of tea have at it.

But a comicbook Superhero film about a dude with powers facing no physical villian is like porn with sex.

For the record I've never watched porn before but I imagine it's pretty useless if there is not sex involved because all you are left with I assume is a lackluster plot and even worse acting.
Whoa whoa. I'm sorry I'm not meaning to sound confrontational.

It's funny you bring up that stuff. I'm currently bunkered down in my room trying to block out the noise from the lounge. My roommates tried to get a stripper for a bachelor party and ended up getting a male stripper.

So I'm just here pretty bitter. I'm sorry I SEE SPIDEY.

Blast you guys for quoting me before I edited the post!

Jamie adores Superman Returns and I don't remember him having a problem with the lack of a physical villian like many other people did. I do believe he is going to review SR again on TMT as part of a look at the Superman films so be on the look out for that.

TDK didn't have a physical villain...I remember that film being pretty damn good.

Ha! That was an unexpected turn.

I accept your apology. We have a different opinion and I don't think you are dumb because your opinion differs from mine.

I'm happy to talk about it as long as my intelligence isn't insulted.

Well you got a mortal crusader who beats down on thugs vs. an alien God with almost unlimited powers. I want to see the limits of those powers.

That being said, the Joker was such a compelling villain that drove the story forward that nobody mind. And he was as physical as you can get with that type of character, along with Batman.

Batman isn't Superman. He is a human and he can be hurt by a bum on the street if things go wrong.

Basically Batman is nothing like Superman so I don't know what your point is?

Yeah, I didn't mean to be demeaning to you. I'm sorry that's how it came across. Everyone was just jumping on the bandwagon of Luthor not being enough for a sequel, and I was like 'ARGH that stripper!', 'ARGH that Skrillex', 'ARGH why does everyone want to see Supes punch someone, how old are these people?!' Then put it as a joke. I definitely respect your opinion all the same.

Ha laugh it up, I'm dying over here.

The character in your avvy would be a interesting potential way to take Luthor by the way. He seems very intimidating and threatening in the trailers.

Welp, time to jot down yet another villain that Cumberbatch has been recommended for.

Doesn't matter, people still pay to see Batman beat the crap out of people and win all the same, people pay to see batman do his thing, use his gadgets, how is this any different from people paying to see superman fly and beat people up without them exploding into thousands of pink pieces?

The only thing is when you have a physical main villain like Bane or Zod, then it's easier to imagine and get excited for the inevitable physicality that will follow in the film, but when you have someone like Joker or Lex then you know that physicality will be somewhere else and maybe not so inevitable, but it certainly doesn't mean that there will be none.

My point being is that you just need a great villain, someone charismatic someone that can act a storm on the screen, someone that provides a great foil to your hero and it will be a good film. The physicality can be displayed in so many different ways throughout the film, just because the main villain doesn't match up with the hero physically doesn't mean there will be none.

Hence TDK, because it had some pretty wild action scenes and Batman got to do his thing like everyone wanted, but his stuff with Two Face and Joker were mostly mental and emotional.

Not really. Batman still didn't get to do his thing as far as I'm concerned when it came to the action. But that's a story for another thread.

I mean the characterization. The terrorizing master schemer. Perhaps it's getting too played out in films lately though. Cumberbatch is obviously no good since he's already doing it in STID.

superman is going to do everything he is known for. punching, lifting, going through energy and finding his inner strentght bla bla bla......

so there is no reason to search for something different for the sequel. they will have to repeat the action.

I agree, he does play that type of villain well. Too 'meh' looking for Lex though, imo.
