"Vulgar", "cheap", "tasteless", "isn't nice", "guys'd be getting the wrong idea", yep clear as day you're calling her sl**ty, especially that last one. Go blame a system that still values women & women actors primarily for their looks; punishes them if they don't look like they're trying to be sexy enough, and punishes them if they look like they're trying too much to be sexy. She seems sexually aggressive/lays unabashed unashamed claim to her sexuality. So no, women can't win, and we police ourselves to pick up the slack.

There's nothing shameful about women's sexuality; what's shameful is the expectation that that's our main worth, as long as it's tightly controlled.
No one is calling Jaimie a ****. She's free to choose the dress she wants to wear, but others are free to dislike her choice and be vocal about it. She had to know that this dress would generate a lot of press; no doubt that's why she chose it in the first place.

Wearing clothing that reveals your pubic mound, breasts, and butt all in one shot does not, in my mind, necessarily equate "comfort with ones sexuality".

I think that the choice to wear a dress like this one buys into the very concept you object to--that a woman's body is her main worth.

Well, if her dress gets good reviews and brings TDW back over 80%, I'll take back everything I said about it!

Well said

It's not about being a prude at all. It's about knowing that there's more to a person than their looks. Jaimie has obviously lost that knowledge. A woman can get attention and look good without having to purposely show her crotch and ass crack.

I'm all for expressing sexuality, in an appropriate setting. If she wants to be taken seriously as an actress, she should probably cover up and let her talent and personality shine through instead of her body. She's on par with Miley Cyrus now.

I wouldn't go that far. LOL She's hot, she wanted attention, she dressed to get it. Whether it was her idea, her agent's, her pr person's, society's or her boyfriend's is irrelevant. I'm pretty sure she dressed herself.

I laugh at the **** shaming argument. For real???? I guess in the end I am super jealous. I want to see the men showing up 3/4 naked but that's sexism for ya. I only get to look at the female T&A because it's more acceptable.

Yes, criticisms of revealing dresses means we're catty. Keep telling yourself that next time you think Miley Cyrus dresses ****ty or those idiots from the Housewives show. It doesn't say much for us when women feel they need to wear crap like Jaimie did to get attention. More self respect would be nice, especially since you can see her crotch in numerous pictures.

You must be really close to Jaimie to know her exact reasons and motivations for wearing the thing.

Otherwise you're coming across as an awfully judgmental random internetter. But if you're cool with that, w/e.

I think the dress would be better if it was just the top that was see through. Risque without going overboard.

Alas...its getting people talking, I'm sure that's what she intended.

Lets not put Cyrus in the same sentence as Madonna and Cher.

I think Cher's see through dress is more tasteful

Haha judgemental. I doubt you actually care about people being judgemental, you wouldn't have a problem if she wore nothing to the premiere.

And yes, we should have an issue with this kind of thing. Mainly because of why she felt the need to wear something like that.

I wouldn't care if the entire cast showed up wearing nothing but clown shoes and top hats. The clothes people wear don't concern me. I'm certainly not arrogant enough to presume to divine someones thoughts and intentions based on it.

She's wearing to to get publicity so she'll get more roles. Who knows her outside of Thor? She probably doesn't want to get typecast in Xena roles.

I'm not arrogant. But people obviously wear what they wear for a reason and even more so with women. You are clearly not a woman so you wouldn't have the tiniest inkling of why a woman would wear something. I'm saying that whatever her reasons are for wearing a crotch revealing dress to a movie premiere, they're probably much more deeply rooted than you think.

Jennifer Lawrence said that she did a sexy photoshoot in Esquire because she didn't want to be typecast as the gritty troubled girl like in Winter's Bone, she wanted to show that she could be sexy.

Are we really going to pretend that sexy photoshoots and dresses don't matter? I mean it's a rotten thing for an actress to have to do but sometimes crap like this can get you buzz and score you roles, different kinds of roles. Again I wish that it didn't have to be that way but it is.

If her role in Thor 2 was small, she's probably planning ahead. Probably realizing there's not much to offer in terms of acting with Thor.

I don't really have a problem with the dress. Obviously mission accomplished because it's gotten Alexander a lot of attention right now.

I mean think about it. Alexander's role in Thor 2 is pretty minimal, even compared to Kat Dennings, yet she's the one getting all the buzz online right now. She's played this whole thing masterfully.

No one cares about Kat Dennings or Natalie Portman right now.

The only reason I watched The Dark World was because of I love Jaime (and the cast for Thor). I gave the movie a D+/C- but that's another issue. Alexander just looks absolutely stunning and sexy in that dress. She deserves to be Wonder Woman. Thank god she rejected the part after reading the material for the show. She knows what she's talking about. I hope her star continues to flourish. Jaime is radiant, smart and a very good actor.

We have paintings held as pillars of civilized art and culture with women wearing less clothing than she is wearing.

Also I don't think 'trashy' is the proper word for disliking the dress. Trashy would imply something poorly made or cheap looking. Or something that looks garbled and mismatched. While you may not like the dress I don't think you can say it's 'trashy' it still has a streamlined elegant quality to it's design in that it still covers are the areas it's supposed to while still showing what it does.

Personally I don't have a problem with the dress, it's fine with me. Looking at different cultures and peoples throughout the world and history it's downright prudish compared to some.
