But when the narrative is flowing and the emotions are on fire...there is nothing in this world that I ship harder than Lois and Clark. Nothing.

I ship them like burning. I have since I was a little kid and saw Superman the Movie for the first time.

I shipped them like mad again in the 90's when it was Dean and Teri.

I shipped them in the animated series.

I've shipped them since the first minute my Dad handed me a Superman comic years and years ago.

Even in Superman Returns...in that flight scene? I still shipped them. Yes, the story was messed up and it had so many errors but that flight scene is still gorgeous and they had a baby and I just wanted them to be a family.

I thought for sure I wouldn't ship them on Smallville bc I still attached to Dean and Teri and I thought, "Eh...can't possibly be as good." Except then Tom and Erica wound up having burning mad chemistry and I shipped THEM like mad. I wanted years for them to kiss and I got literal chills when they did. I cried at their wedding.

Even now, in the new 52, in the rare moment when you get a great scene betwen them like in Tony Daniel's recent flashback in Action Comics when they are in the bar and Clark is peering over his glasses and their eyes catch....damn I STILL ship them like mad. I'm like, "Go back to the hotel room. Fool around! You know you want to!"

And now, here we are again...and what do you know....against all odds....I've got the feels again.

I just can't help it. I will go down with this ship. I will legit ship Lois Lane and Superman forever. And really it's dumb to even call them a "ship" because they aren't a ship as much as the central, pivotal 75 year old relationship in the Superman mythos. They aren't a ship.

There. You have my confession.
Audrey, this is a great post. I'm going to in a more manlier way say I totally ship them too. There are so many reasons why I ship Clark and Lois. I think that Superman can have other love interests and I'm okay with that. I think when I first got into Superman and that relationship I was so pro Clark and Lois I actually got angry at the thought of Clark being with someone other than Lois, such as Lana or Wonder Woman. I think one of the MOST wonderful thing about their relationship is that they can be apart, they can do other things, they can go their own way, for as long as they need but they will always find each other. In some way. In fact part of the fun of their relationship is seeing HOW writers manage to keep them apart. Because we always know the inevitable will happen and they will find each other. I mean if someone who didn't know the characters could see my posts on how much Clark and Lois needed to be together in Smallville, why Clark should choose Lois over Lana, they would think I'm talking about real people, I mean I was so passionate about it. I think I've calmed down a little, I think, as I said, Clark and Lois are so strong individually that they can easily go their seperate ways, be completely in their element but will always find each other again. And also end up together. I think their relationship is so strong that this will always happen, regardless of who they try to pair them up with. Their relationship is one of the most classic and famous fictional relationships in history. It is also a relationship of health, not of angst and I think that is amazing.

They really need to fix that drawing of Fishburne and give him a massive gap in his teeth.

I love Lois's little news reporter outfit. I have to say, while I'm excited for the film overall, I think I'm excited to see Amy do her thing the most.

I feel exactly the same.

I actually think it's a bit damaging. I mean, i've grown up seeing their relationship as the perfect example of what a good one should be. The reasons they love each other, the way they treat each other, the trust and support they give each other. It's a really high standard to want from a real life relationship

It's only misogynistic if someone applies the term solely in reference to women. I don't personally know Audrey, but based on the content of her often gender-conscious posts (and also that she's a woman herself), I highly doubt that she was labeling Amy's character [in The Fighter] with ill intent.

this is in reference to a woman. "trashy bar girl". Trashy is a value judgement and I think it's misogynistic to call girls or women that.

I said if she SOLELY (in her daily life) applies the term in reference to women. In other words, if she also sometimes uses the term to describe certain men (like the male cast of Jersey Shore), then, in my opinion, she's not being misogynistic.

From what I've read, Audrey is a cool chick and not the least bit misogynistic.

I am on people about sexism all the time and I wasn't offended by Audrey's description of Adams character from The Fighter.

You have the right to be offended by her description but I think you are barking up the wrong tree.

She was speaking of her acting abilities as in playing a character...and so the term 'trashy bar girl" is a description of a character that can be played (there are trashy bar girls just as there are trashy bar guys) not her calling someone that or generalizing that women are that.
