exactly. crystal is so futuristic. it's so mysterious and magical!!! it's cool and timeless!!!
however any "electronic or mechanical" fortress will look outdated in the future. that's a definite.

With MOS, though, Snyder's actually taking a risk here by being more creative. After all, the more detail you show, the more you open yourself and your ideas up to criticism. So, even if I'm not crazy about the way Krypton looks in this film, I applaud the efforts behind trying to create something entirely different -- a living, breathing world (as opposed to a lifeless planet). |

You think it's easy to come out something simple n yet people buying the idea?
You have totally zero idea how much thought they had gone to before they got the crystal concept. So dont simply said that it's easy to do so.

Yeah, I don't see how crystals are unimaginative, especially back then. That would imply that it's the first thing that sprang to everyone's mind pre-1978.

Everything seems unimaginative in hindsight, because it has made the transition from someone's imagination into the public conscience. You can only say that the crystalline Fortress was unimaginative if you can point to its prior general and recurrent use as a design.

It’s definitely time for a change, a different interpretation. But I’d say the “crystal tech” concept was quite clever and robust. If you look at other sci-fi films of the same period (e.g., Alien), the CRT computer screens and MS-DOS-type interfaces are amusingly dated. But STM’s crystals still hold up as highly advanced/exotic tech.

I like the crystal tech within the Donner film as well. But that's where it should stay...What I find so appealing with MOS is the fact that everything seems so fresh, new, not quite seen before, while still yet looking so classic. It's amazing.

^ Because it's taking on a myth that transcends time, while demonstrating how much Superman has "adapted" through the years. I think MOS will be the ultimate Superman film, though the Donnerverse was groundbreaking and has classic scenes.

I'm all for change. As much as I love the Crystal tech, I do like the new approach they've taken for MOS.

whoa, never noticed there was someone in the pod! Dev-Em?
Looks to be Clark with the same clothes as when he discovers the Fortress and asking questions to Jor-El AI. So I doubt it's Zod after defeat. |

Seems like the graphic designer behind the posters didn't have access to hi-res images.
