After the way Bird handled Dash in The Incredibles, I'd say he'd direct a great Flash movie.

Bird will likely get nabbed by Marvel due to Disney.

They may indeed take up WB's December spot post the Hobbit trilogy as I expect Marvel/ Disney to place theirs in the Summer.
December will likely go to Avatar. Marvel aren't confining themselves to summer, Thor2 is November this year, Cap2 is April '14, Ant Man is Nov '15.

Just in case you don't realise, 2013 has a spate of potential blockbusters lined up as well- IM3 should get close to a billion, so should Star Trek Into Darkness (awesome film, by the way). Then there is Lone Ranger, which if it's anything close to the fun of Pirates could run close to a billion too, though personally I'm highly doubtful. Pacific Rim is another movie set to take up the mantle of Robots from last years' Transformers and could go big at the BO. Of course, there's Desolation of Smaug that will probably cross a billion as well. Then there is a small matter of the first Superman movie in years which is highly anticipated and looks awesome anyway.
2013's "spate of blockbusters" are completely different level to what's lined up for 2015.

This years biggest movies have potential to cross $1bn.
The only question for IM3 is how far past $1bn it goes (currently @ $949m). Smaug will more than likely hit it.
Apart from those?
STID isn't landing anywhere close ($600m high end, my guess), it doesn't have the overseas audience.
The Lone Ranger is consistently being pegged as a flop.
Pacific Rim is highly unlikely to come anywhere close to $1bn, same for MoS though probably less of a stretch than PR.
Will Hunger Games grow enough overseas to get there? I don't think it will.
I could see, Monsters U & Despicable Me 2 coming close.
Thor2 is a dark horse, but that's also not likely.

Compare that to 2015, where you have 3 franchises that are not only locked for $1bn, but have potential to hit $2bn (Avengers2, SW7) & $3bn (Avatar2). Pirates 5 & Finding Dori also have a shot at $1bn. Has Bond 24 been moved back to '15? If so, there's another one. That year is a diferent level of competition entirely. You really want to throw a JL film into that?

Not since Adam West has a Batman in the film franchise not been cast by an A-List actor, period.

No...

Up and coming/promising actors perhaps, NOT A-list.

Keaton was probably the closest to A-list. Nobody was cast who was on the level of say a Tom Cruise or Johnny Depp.

The actors were then propelled or restrained because of Batman.

Yeah that's very true. Bale was no A-Lister during Batman Begins but he still lead his films like American Psycho, Machinist, etc...and some of them were cult classics. Bale also had an origin story to develop into, to win over audiences with. Cavill has the same opportunity.

But still, Batman, post-origin, who is supposed to be developed right at the start of a film has always been a huge name in Hollywood.

Actually, there has been only one A-list Batman. Clooney. He was definitely A-list at the time of B&R, it was just a horrible film. Kilmer...I'm not really sure. Would he have been considered closer to A-list then Keaton in 89?

I wouldn't even say Keaton was, cause before Batman, he was just doing comedies. I think the closest one to an "A-lister" would probably be Val Kilmer. Clooney wasn't even considered one when he did B&R, he was mainly a TV actor who was just getting into movies.

Really? Clooney wasn't considered A-list at the time of B&R?

He was a TV actor... trying to segue into movies.

He was very popular on ER, but I wouldn't call him A-list.

Yeah, good point. I forgot that he didn't really get hugely popular until after O Brother Where Art Thou and Ocean's Eleven.
