Default Godzilla '98 sequel?

I wouldn't mind if they made a sequel to Godzilla (1998). I loved the first movie and I would hate to see it go to waste.

In 2004 he made an appearance in Godzilla: Final Wars and most recently in a doritos comercial...but those are no sequels.
I just watched it and I fell in love with it again. I think the movie was kind of like The Hulk, the first time you watch it, for some, it's bad for some but after a few years, you really enjoy it.

What do you guys think?

As far as "big monster attacks city!" movies go, I think it's pretty great
Fanboys got angry cause they used the name "Godzilla" and made it so different, I guess.

I love it, as well as most of the Japanese Godzilla movies, but there's no beating the 90's Gamera Trilogy

I forgot to mention that the music by David Arnold was the best

I liked the movie too, and I would like to see a sequel someday. I actually did a sketch of what I think King Gidorah could look like if he were re-designed to match with the US Godzillaverse, and I think it could work pretty well (my design was much more sleek and had a really wide wingspan, so that he looked like he was designed for flight rather than lumbering around).

And even though most of the acting in the US Godzilla sucked, Hank Azaria and Jean Reno kicked @$$.

Double post!

Anyway, I still think the CGI work in this movie is impressive.

I'd like to think that his appearance in Final Wars and his death at the hands of the TRUE King of the Monsters is the last time we will ever see Trizilla. It is better to forget that movie ever existed and have Toho concentrate on Godzilla's resurrection and let us see something that will knock off our socks.

Technically they did make a sequel to the movie, but it was an animated cartoon show.

Meh, they didn't have the same characters as Matthew Broderick, Hank Azaria or Jean Reno , a real sequel would be better.

I don't want a sequel. The 1998 film was cool when I was seven, but looking back on it, it was junk.

Youve got to be kidding me. That Devlin and Emmerich "Godzilla" is a crime against everything that is film. Godzilla has been around since 1953 with over twenty films. Godzilla is an icon on the same level as Batman and Superman. And yet Devlin and Emmerich showed absolutely no respect for the source matterial. not only that but they referred to that source material and the very concept of Godzilla as a Joke!!!!!!!!!!! WTF! How dare they. That would be like a film-maker calling Batman a joke, or Superman, or Spider-Man, The X-Men, Star Trek, Star Wars, Etc. Not to sound like a vengeful fanboy but Devlin and Emmerich have absolutely no right to even go near Godzilla. Ever. And yet for some bizarre reason the "film" that they made has "fans"? thats the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. Gojira for life, represent!

Call me a heretic, but I really did like the design of the '98 Godzilla. Sure, it doesn't look like the classic 'Zilla, but I still thought it was cool as hell.

It was the storyline that rendered the movie mediocre.

yeah... you're absolutely right, man. there's nothing to joke about when it comes to "Gojira & Friends"

dude. Gojira was a joke to begin with. it always has been. quit acting like its anything more than that, becasue it's not.

First of all, the movie should have been a disaster flick on a grand, international scale. Limiting it to the US (one city for that matter) was frugal. Godzilla is a threat to mankind as a whole, not just one nation.

Then of course, it needed a better story, as well as better-written characters.

Godzilla is an awful movie. I'm no fan, I like the concept of Godzilla but all the Japanese movies bar the 1954 original are lame.

Which proves that 85% of the haters don't know what the crap they're talking about, since that's practically the only thing they ever whine about.
