Default The Amazing Spider-Man - Tie it in with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

- Disney/Marvel and Sony Pictures agreed to incorporate OsCorp Tower into The Avengers. Unfortunately, last minute timing constraints kept this from happening.

- Disney owns the merchandising rights to the Spider-Man franchise, and it's widely believed that part of Disney/Marvel and Sony's contract stipulates that Spider-Man can be used by Marvel Studios.

- Marc Webb responded to a tweet claiming that he was mapping out a massive Spider-Man universe with "Think bigger...".

- An Empire State University T-Shirt is worn by Benny in Marvel Studios' short film Item 47. Columbia Pictures/Sony owns the rights to ESU, and a deleted scene from TASM features Dr. Connors mentioning ESU.

- Rhys Ifans name appears on a bus in Thor: The Dark World (a little strange).

- Iron Man and Spider-Man both appeared in a Target commercial. This was the first time two Marvel characters owned under separate studios appeared in any form of media together.

- Marc Webb, Andrew Garfield, and even producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach has expressed interest, and we all know Disney/Marvel would like for Spider-Man to join the MCU fold.

I'm just saying, there are things going on that does signal that Spider-Man is likely set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Colm Feore may be in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 as the head of Ravencroft, and he also played Laufey in Thor, but that doesn't disallow Disney/Marvel and Sony to move forward. So, let's discuss the possibilities of Spider-Man being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Oh I see, sorry! Good idea

You forgot that mysterious tweet that was immediately deleted a few days ago, which said Disney and Sony are planning to incorporate an Avengers2 hint into TASM2.

Do you have a link? I know the tweet was deleted, but is there any websites that reported it?

Spidey is the missing piece to The Avengers. Let Stark worry about being a showoff and leave the quips to Spidey.

I read it over at Facebook. The MCU fansite asked if someone saw that tweet before it was deleted. Apparently they've deleted their post too.

Much like the concept of Spidey being linked to the wider MCU I remain sceptical about this tweet until I see it confirmed.

Though I can't deny that the idea would be interesting and would provide the opportunity for some interesting possibilities.

If Marvel uses Webb's Spidey for MCU, the TASM saga will be incredibly embraced by a lot of haters. Just because of Josh Whedon.

Well they'll have to use Webb's Spider-Man otherwise they will be waiting for a lonnnng time. And I presume they will want Spider-Man in The Avengers as soon as possible.

It'd be pretty complicated to incorporate Andrew's version of Spider-Man into the MCU simply because the first film wasn't created with that intent. It'd feel very forced. Not to mention, where would the events of TASM fit within the MCU? It can't be post Avengers since there should have been hints of New York's destruction by the hands of the Invasion. And if it's before it, then they'd have to come up with a good explanation of why Spidey wasn't a part of the New York battle and it'd be kind of a cop out to say that he was but that what he did wasn't as "big in scale" and that it just wasn't shown..thus making it, the OTHER untold Story of Spider-Man for this franchise.lol

The only crossover they're looking to do I'd say, as Repulsor said is just Easter eggs. Little things just to indicate they're in the same shared universe.

For example, not saying it would happen, just wishful thinking. But say at Ravencroft we see a cell or something for Blonsky. That kinda stuff would be cool I think, and more so what they should do.

Here's how I see they can do it.

Marvel Studio's Phases, Phase 1, 2, 3, and etc tell the story of the inner more serious evented Marvel universe with The Avengers and cosmic stuff.

The Amazing Spider-Man and MS's SHIELD show, possible Daredevil and Punisher stuff, and etc, are part of the wider Marvel Universe that are not part of the Phases, but still a part of the MCU.

This would fix the problem of the TASM films not really having a MS Phase to go with or interconnecting with those films.

I really don't like the idea of Spidey in the Avengers or in the larger universe... That is what ruins the comics every time. Spidey is a lone hero and only works as an under dog. Otherwise, he isn't interesting at all.

^ Kind of a closed minded way of thinking about it d:

You don't think he's interesting at all, yet you don't like the idea of Spidey part of a universe and prefer him being lone, yet you think he isn't that interesting.

what are the benefits and disadvantages of sony letting spiderman be part of the MCU?

if its beneficial to them surely it shouldn't be a question if it would happen

I don't understand how it could be tied into the MCU. The Avengers final battle took place in New York. If TASM takes place before that, why wasn't Spider-Man involved in the battle? If TASM takes place after, why wasn't the battle mentioned at all in TASM? Not a single allusion to aliens or superheroes.
