Default S.H.I.E.L.D. has no shortage of enemies - The villains thread

What adversaries do you anticipate will show up as thorns in our beloved agents' sides? My choices:

HYDRA (Madam Hydra, Sin, Jessica Drew, Bob?)

Taskmaster

The Leader

Absorbing Man

Honestly, Taskmaster had better show up as recurring (as well as temporarily joining the good guys), and the Wrecking Crew would be a really cool thing to build up. Obviously Hyda and/or AIM and/or Roxxon Oil and such too.

I want Taskmaster, I haven't really heard anything about the guy except for him being in MVC3 and the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

Would the Wrecking Crew work on a TV budget?

Like Clark Kent (and Kara and J'onn and others) on Smallville. Big feats of super strength to introduce them, and at critical story points, followed by lots of implied super strength for the vast majority of their screen time. Thunderball's weapon would be the most expensive thing, and probably would have to be cut. It might be an expensive episode, I suppose, but quite doable, even on TV budgets

Also, whoever said Stilt-Man, yes! That!

Hell yes for Taskmaster. I'd also like to see Ghost, Fixer/Techno, and Madame Masque. I could also see them adapting the Zodiac into live action as a cabal of evil masterminds using the signs as code names rather than wearing lion, bull, crab, ect. costumes. Also I hope they expand upon AIM and Hydra from the build up in IM3 and Cap.

I don't want to see too many A listers to be honest. There's no reason to rush through the coolest villains in a tv series when they deserve a movie with their nemesis.

Hydra is fine but definitely save The Leader for a Hulk movie (if they make another one) or an Avengers movie

If they ever use Leader in the show I think Michael Emerson would be excellent

what about the other villainous organizations like Hydra (mentioned earlier) and AIM? I thought there were more than just these 2?

I would bring back the same guy as Samuel Sterns/Leader. He did a good job. I wouldn't save him for a likely non-existent Hulk movie.

I figure AIM and Hydra are givens, not to mention essential. I'm pretty sure AIM will come back in one of the films, so it would help establish them as a long term threat. Plus...let's be honest: it would be cool if some Extremis soldiers popped up again or something. >_<

As for other villains, I think the Leader might work out well here, especially if they get Mark Ruffallo to maybe do a cameo or something.

Would like to see new interpretations of the many c-list villains that appeared in the 60s like paste-pot pete and cobra

Maybe some Extremis users might show up, since we haven't apparently seen the last of them?

My guess is there will be another organization trying to get to JAR for their own ends!

Perhaps, but I am not sure their costumes would work well on a TV budget and really Smallville ended up cutting a lot of corners in terms of feat of strength, they didn't even show the final battle between Doomsday and Clark.

I think people on this thread are suggesting characters are just not feasible and wouldn't fit in with what a SHIELD TV show should be about. SHIELD should be about cloak and dagger stuff, not over the top super villain battles, I don't see what Stilt-Man would add to such a show and he is pretty expensive too. One has to be realistic when considering what works and what doesn't work in live action TV and I think a lot of comic book fans don't realize the limitations of live action TV. I don't think Absorbing Man, the Leader, Stilt-Man or the Wrecking Crew work very well on TV budget or fit in with the tone of a SHIELD TV show, how often has SHIELD fought these guys in the comics?

I would agree with using Taskmaster and Baron Strucker seems like an obvious arch villain for such a series.

There is a line in the trailer that mentions that it's "not just spy versus spy anymore", so we might see some powered foes, but nothing too excessive.

Perhaps so, but that doesn't negate the realities of TV budgets, if they blow their budget trying to put Stilt-Man on the screen, the show won't last more then one season. Having more budget friendly villains is the way to go, rather then trying to recreate the over the top action scenes from the movies, on a TV budget.
