I tend to think that we will see some villainous organizations behind a lot of the season long arcs. Hydra, AIM, the Maggia, the Hand would all be good. Batroc, the Taskmaster, Baron Strucker, and others would great antagonists.

I wonder what that means...
There appear to be superbaddies in the new trailer, and in all likelihood, they're after JAR to join their cause, or to "examine," or just to kill.

There's one guy in particular who is likely to be a supervillain, albeit maybe of the thug level --- he's shown in a surveillance video in a gray shirt, getting up in the face of a labcoat scientist, and Coulson and Ward are shown elsewhere watching a hologram of him slamming a stool down (probably on the scientist's head).

Are the Rising Tide supposed to be villains, seeing as they're out to expose SHIELD or something?

(Unless it's just a one-person operation that Skye runs...)

No, it looks like that hacker chick in the trailer is rising tide and she joins SHIELD. Could be wrong though.

It probably depends on if Rising Tide is an organization of which Skye is a part, of if its just her own conspiracy website.

Why would they call it "WEaretherisingtide.com" if it's a one-woman show?

Often people use "we" as a way to get people on board with them, whether they're originally involved or not.

Sure, there's "the royal 'we'" and all that, but I think that's stretching it a bit. Rising Tide, as shown in the trailer and on the viral site, seem to be organized, albeit loosely.

But didn't Skye in the trailer say that she's not a team player?

Meaning she could betray SHIELD, *or* The Rising Tide, or both.
To me, she seems like she could become a Jessica Drew-type character (if not Jess herself)....somebody who's used as a pawn by both SHIELD and HYDRA, and who has shifting loyalties --- when she has any loyalty at all.

I'm hoping to see Organizations like HYDRA, A.I.M. etc... go up against S.H.I.E.L.D.

Because she would want the world (and SHIELD) to think that the movement is larger and more powerful than it actually is, in order to be taken seriously.

Eh, there's got to be more to it than that.

If she's just a lone-gunman conspiracy theorist broadcasting out of her van, and gets spotted incredibly easily by SHIELD, what possible use would Coulson have for her (besides being a hottie)? If she's a hacker, as the promotional material indicates, we've seen no sign that she's any good at it (or even any sign that she *does* it, unless you consider pirate radio "hacking"), let alone any reason that Coulson would try to recruit her on the spot. I'm sure SHIELD already has hackers and computer specialists who could run rings around Skye.

Skye reminds me of Logan Cale and his "Eyes Only" from Dark Angel.

Just thought of a few more baddies I think would fit into the tone of the show:
Count Nefaria
Monica Rappicini
Radioactive Man (if he's not in Antman)
The Controller
Tombstone (if they have the rights)
Ezekial Stane

What are you trying to say? You pretty much just said that she's no good for SHIELD, even though we know they're going to hire her. The Rising Tide being her one man show is a lot more impressive than her just being another member.

What I'm saying is that Coulson isn't going to hire somebody off the street just because she runs a conspiracy website and a pirate radio station, and runs them *poorly.* She doesn't display anything in the trailer that indicates Coulson would sit up and take notice of her; so, given Coulson's background with "sniffing out" supers, it seems to me highly likely that she's got powers --- even if they're latent ones --- and *that's* the reason he's interested in her.

From the trailer Skye obviously managed to track down JAR's mysterious hero and warn him about SHIELD. One would imagine that Coulson wouldn't take kindly to some conspiracy theorist not only making contact with superbeings for her own purposes but also spreading misinformation about SHIELD. That might not have been the first time she inserted herself in the agency's affairs and it could prove dangerous if she fooled with the wrong person. It makes sense that Coulson would want to get someone like that, too smart for her own good and causing trouble for SHIELD, off the streets.

Coulson would probably want Skye safe from the types of people that could end up being attracted by her SHIELD conspiracy theories business. He'd also probably want her to help do some good with his new outfit.

I'll stick to the simpler, more dramatic explanation that makes for better tv:

Skye's got powers.

Lizzy Caplan and her boyfriend didn't really display any superspy-worthy skills either but they got hired in Item 47. Unless I'm misremembering, I only saw it once.

edit: Ok so Benny is some kind of whiz kid who activated a dormant Chitauri device. Still kind of stupid they'd hire Lizzy as Blakes assistant though. Is she at all qualified for anything?

She's qualified to be an assistant... which is what she is.

I guess? The whole resolution felt kind of forced to be honest.

I felt it was a bit of an intentional joke to an extent. And that recruiting Claire was a bit of a 'put you in your place' stunt for Blake.

And they weren't that bad for completely untrained kids tbh.

But Sam... After his 'those kids are magic' theory from Thor 2's trailer - yeah I don't agree with his theories. Or the logic gettingto them hehehe. No offence, it's all opinion.

I want to see a lot of low-level and street-level thugs and villains, powered and unpowered. Mostly I want to see SHIELD battling the villains they should be battling:
- Hydra loyalists
- AIM scientists
- Ten Rings insurgents
- maybe eventually a Skrull invader or two

Villains I think could fit very well:
- Taskmaster
- Count Nefaria
- Madame Hydra
- Crossfire
- Trick Shot

And I'd be alright with non-ridiculous versions of the following villains:
- Trapster
- Whirlwind
- Living Laser
- Wrecking Crew (as a gang with superpowered tech?)
- Serpent Society (as a gang with superpowered genetic deformities?)
