Its hard to pin point any at this point.

You can run and switch between multiple apps instantly. Um, it'll have pretty visuals. Its got a nice controller.

Thats, thats about it.

Yes, which means the thing is always on, always, watching you

I hate the controller.

I was wondering what would happen with online play if someone yells Xbox off.

I was joking with my brother (who has an XBOX) that if he gets this I'm going to run into his room when he's playing CoD mp and yell "XBOX Off!!!"

Gamers hoping to bring their library of Xbox Live Arcade games with them to the Xbox One are out of luck. Microsoft has confirmed that these games will not carry over to the next-generation platform.

"Those games will continue to run on your Xbox 360 for as long as your Xbox 360 runs," Microsoft Game Studios VP Phil Spencer told GameSpot. "The box is not backward compatible and we think for somebody who invests in a large digital library that you want to keep your [Xbox 360]. Keep that as a vibrant part of the ecosystem."

Continuing to play on an Xbox 360 while others are on Xbox One won't be an alienating experience, Spencer said, because friends lists and achievements will remain constant between both platforms.

"That's why we've made sure that your identity, your friends, are constant between both platforms. You don't have a separate identity on Xbox one or [Xbox 360]; it's the same, you are you," Spencer said. "My friend's network is the same on both boxes, my achievements are the same. So we think that service component is an important component to keep constant across both devices."

The Xbox One not only does not support XBLA titles, but it will not be backwards compatible with Xbox 360 games.

Check out GameSpot's full Xbox One conversation with Spencer for more on used games, the platform's Internet requirements, and new business models.

Lucky for me the XBLA games I care about the most are ports of N64 games that I already own.

There's soooo much abuse potential in this, lol. Imagine some kids playing the newest COD and losing left and right, so he just yells into his mic, "XBOX OFF!!!", and everyone on the server suddenly powers off. There's videos of people messing with others on Skyrim with Kinect, yelling random things to make your npc partner attack townsfolk and such. Then there were reports of people getting kicked off of the live streams of the Xbox One reveal whenever people on stage said, "Xbox (insert random command)".

Gamers are not the type of ppl to admit they were wrong and there are a LOT of em completely writing MS off(with good reason). But what if MS comes out at E3 and shows the console as a games machine, shows off a lot of features that better the gaming experience and shows off some of these "15 exclusives" they'll have?

Im not so sure gamers jump at the chance to say, yea we were wrong, you've got a great system here. I think the vitriol continues.
I wouldn't write it off just yet. A lot of this information is pretty damning. However just like with Nintendo and Sony, Xbox has a pretty hardcore crowd. They're the same people that buy every Halo, and helped drive Kinect to record sales. All they have to do to get a guaranteed 15+ million in sales is show a nextgen Halo cinema, show some COD multiplayer footage, and a Gears nextgen trailer. The rest of the time could be filled with Kinect shovelwear and TV talk, and they will still consider it a successful E3.

That's not to say Xbox One is a guaranteed success. Just that I don't think it's doomed, at least not yet. There's always a chance it goes the way of the Dreamcast, or sells like a Gamecube. Personally, all of these negative rumors make me instinctively want to write it off. It's just that I have this feeling all of the multimedia talk is really going to win over the casual crowd who may want little to do with gaming. Imagine a mom seeing all of the stuff she would want to mess with in an entertainment center being touted on a morning talk show, hearing it plays games, and it being near Christmas time.

On the flip side however, that also runs a risk of a lot of returns, and unsatisfied customers. Think of the same customers, who know little about Xbox One, buying them for their kids. Now imagine if that family doesn't have internet, gets it home with a bunch of games, and find their kids can't play their Christmas present. Or if they use used games to supplement buying new ones, and find out Gamestops useless to them now. In a case like that, I can see heavy upfront sales, with a drop off over time as word of mouth of co-workers and friends circulate.

The Dudebros will buy it for Halo 12 and Gears of War 9 and Military Shooter #76. Maybe there is a segment of Leave It To Beaver families just waiting around their TV for a device that lets them Skype with Grandma. MS will spend a lot of marketing dollars on this. Maybe imply that people are overweight and the Xbox One will help them lose the pounds with Kinect. Maybe they'll love the idea of the subscription-based set-top box for most of the features.

I'm probably in the minority as someone who enjoys both Halo and Zelda, but these new consoles (PS3 and Wii U included) just aren't selling me.

I mean, it's not like it used to be, where we saw a hugh technological leap. Everyone remember going from 16 bits to... 3D?

To me this is like going from an iPhone 4 to a 5. It's just not worth it.

The specs article I linked pointed that out. What game footage they showed wasn't anything we haven't already seen before.

It's like they've run into a wall somewhere between "as good as graphics can get" and "photorealism" and as such graphics aren't a such a huge selling point anymore.

And they're still trying to sell prefab graphics as gameplay. Their market research people are failing if they think gamers haven't clued into that by now.

I assume those graphics were rendered by the game engine though.

Well, it's early yet. It's going to take time for a game to come out that really pushes a console to its limit.
