They're big for the FX network yes, but in the grand scheme of things, most other shows would be canned shortly after pulling in the kind of numbers it does. So no, taking a small role in a movie like this is absolutely not beneath Evan. He still has bills to pay like everyone else.
But marvel has a point. If it was simply a tiny role ala Colossus or Kitty in X2, they'd hire a local actor for a day shoot. Not someone who has other contractual obligations and needs to work out scheduling and flight to Montreal.

And the fact that Bryan Singer announced Evan peters as Quicksilver in Twitter, tells me that the Quicksilver will not be used for just 1 short/action scene.

Daniel Cudmore, Adan Canto, Fan Bingbing, Booboo Stewart, and Josh Helman did not receive a specific announcement tweet.

No he didn't.

He never mentioned Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Josh Helman, Booboo Stewart, Adan Canto and the guy who is playing President Nixon in his tweets.

So for me, its a sign that those characters will have a small role in the movie. Similar to the role of Iceman in X1 and Colossus in X2.

The only cast members that got a "welcome to the cast of DOFP" tweet are

1. James McAvoy
2. Michael Fassbender
3. Jennifer Lawrence
4. Nicholas Hoult
5. Patrick Stewart
6. Ian McKellen
7. Hugh Jackman
8. Peter Dinklage
9. Ellen Page
10. Shawn Ashmore
11. Anna Paquin
12. Omar Sy
13. Halle Berry
14. Evan Peters

It's really hard to guess at this point. There was no Twitter back in 2002, so we really can't assume anything because there's no precedent for Bryan's actions. I would hope that Pietro is more than just a glorified cameo because of the connection to Magneto, but who knows.

Back when X2 was filming, I remember press releases for Katie Stuart, Shauna Kain, Kea Wong, Steve Bacic, and Daniel Cudmore. It made it seem like their roles could be more than just cameos, but they were in fact just that.

I'm not hoping much for Warpath, Blink, Colossus, Sunspot and the character that Josh Helman is portraying. We got Darwin in the First Class movie and Darwin was only used for the first half of the movie, I'm pretty sure one of those characters will not make it to the end of the movie.

With Bryan Singer directing the movie, I'm just hoping the treatment for these smaller roles don't end up like X3's treatment for characters like Multiple Man, Arclight, Omega Kid, Psylocke and Leech. And I just found another flaw in X3, how the hell did the government discover Leech and his powers? That wasn't explained in the movie.

With all of the new mutants for this movie, I'm really hoping that Bishop and Quicksilver will get a decent supporting role.

I know what you mean, regarding X3. But I have faith that Bryan can do the cameos and small parts properly. I know you're still worried because Simon Kingberg is attached as the writer, but Bryan has never been the type of director that just films whatever is in the script. He always has a hand in developing the whole project.

Well his last movie (Jack the Giant Slayer) didn't do so well, the main criticism about the movie was the script. And who knows, if it might happen again in DOFP.

Right now, I don't have 100% faith that DOFP will be as good as X2 and First Class. Hiring Simon Kinberg as the writer, the possibility of bringing back all these dead characters in just 1 movie and the possibility of Wolverine time-traveling alone made me cautious about this film. Kinberg never had a good track record (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/celebrity/simon_kinberg/). He never had a film that he cowrote that got a 70% rating in Rotten Tomatoes except for Sherlock Holmes and he wasn't even the only writer for that film. I don't see it suddenly changing because he's working with Bryan Singer. If DOFP fails to deliver next year, I'm not gonna be super disappointed with the film. From the moment, they hired Simon Kinberg, I already got a bad feeling and the more I know about the movie, I become more less positive.

It's not only Kinberg that wrote this movie is it? I read somewhere that Vaughn and Singer also had parts in the writing of the script.

Well, I was just talking about your concerns about the cameos and small parts. As for the other issues, I still have faith because this is Bryan Singer on an X-Men movie. If you really want to refer to Rottentomatoes numbers and "trends", then just think... he hasn't hit below 80% for X1, X2, nor XM:FC (producing). And you think just because of Jack the Giant Slayer now he will?

Rather than cite the failures of Bryan's work on Jack the Giant Slayer and Kinberg's other works, I'd rather refer to ACTUAL examples of them on X-Men movies. I mean, we even have a real world example of them collaborating in the form of XM:FC. Yes, Singer didn't direct and Kinberg isn't given much credit for working on it (besides producing), but they did both work on developing the story early on. Yes, Singer has had some mediocre movies recently, but he has done pretty well with his X-Men movies. To me, that is stronger evidence than his failures in other areas. Kinberg on the other hand could be problematic considering how X3 turned out, but we all know that movie was doomed from the second Bryan left. Bryan has always been the guiding force.

I would say Bryan and Matthew both had a hand in developing the story with Kingberg (Matthew was attached to direct for a fairly long time), but Kinberg is being credited for story and screenplay. Bryan will undoubtedly be making changes as he goes along. He always does that.

I think it's a fair point to be worried about Kinberg. Stronger writing could have made X3 a lot better! We don't know exactly how much is down to Ratner being late on board, clueless with the material and arrogant as to what should be done (like insisting Rogue be cured), but nonetheless the writers must share some of the blame.

Matthew Vaugh is credited for being a producer and screen-play writer for X-Men Days of Future Past on Imdb as well. But yeah it's really a collaboration of Singer, Vaughn, and Kinberg for the script.

Agreed that he could be problematic, but I don't think anyone should underestimate how much of the final say comes from the director. Bryan is totally the type of director that will change anything that he doesn't like. And even on FC, we know that Vaughn brought in his right hand woman (Jane Goldman) and just rewrote the whole thing to his liking.

Yes Kinberg shares the blame for X3 and rightly so, but Ratner is very much to blame for MANY of the problems with X3. You can see it in any interview he has done for it. All his ADHD, lies about copying comic book panels, and decisions exactly like the one you mentioned regarding Rogue. He is not an auteur and shows through failure exactly how much a director plays in making a movie good, or in this case, really bad.

Oh, and just to add to ^^^

I just took a closer look at Bryan's work and out of all the movies he's directed since coming onto the scene with The Usual Suspects, the only ones he's credited for story are the X-Men movies and Superman Returns. It shows that the X-Men movies are more like personal projects for him and not just another directing gig. He isn't credited as a writer for Jack the Giant Slayer, Valkyrie, nor Apt Pupil... which are incidentally his lesser reviewed movies.

I didn't know this before.

Simon Kinberg Is one of those writers who works In studio system mostly.

He had nothing to do with elektra. That was Zack Penn.He was last writer on 2005 version of FF.Certain amount of blame on that can be leveled at Tim Story.
He had nothing to do with rise of silver surfer.Due to Rothman's interfence last Stand was doomed from the get go.Brett Ratner didn't help matters.

Kinberg was key member of first class team.He was script doctor to film. The best X-Men films-X-Men,X2,First Class had changes being made to film as they
were shooting or at least early part of shoot.

Kinberg Is hardly the sole writer.Bryan SInger or Matthew Vaughn or both devolped the basic story and then Kinberg and Vaughn and reportly Vaughn's writing partner Jane Goldman wrote script till Vaughn moved over to producer.
Then we know Kinberg did some rewrites to match Singer's vision of film.

Besides Kinberg may not be only writer who did rewrites for Singer's vision of DOFP.Kinberg has also been writing a star wars spinoff and working on new Star Wars Animated show.Besides we still don't know why Dan Harris and Michael doughery were tweeted meeting with Singer during DOFP prep. The only other directing film project Singer Is attached to Is Battlestar Galactica, and that already has a writer working on It.The secret project may really be them polishing script for DOFP.By now those who can remember should know Singer can be secretive.

The writing credits on DOFP are going to be Intresting to find out who the writer's guild gives screen credit to.

Agreed with pretty much everything written here ^^
That said, I don't know if there's much truth in Vaughn's claims that he rewrote the whole script. I tend to think Vaughn is in the same vain as Millar. They tend to exaggerate.

Regarding Jack, it's pretty much been the consensus with my Vf/x friends that have worked on the project, that (shall we say) Bryan's heart just wasn't in the project. During meetings he'd be on his phone and then when they ask him what he thinks he'll just say "Just do whatever you guys want." I think as X-men fans, we should be thankful that we have a director that is passionate about these films. I feel bad for Jack fans

i notice alot of people assume because singer has had a big hand in the script and is directing that it will feel more like X1 & X2 rather then FC, but we know if singer is doing a sequel to a film he thinks highly of he will attempt to replicated its tone like he did with Superman Returns

although i have to say something i'm glad vaughn got rid of the love triangle singer was planning in FC, because 2 friends falling out over a girl has been done to death

yes he apparently from what i hear was the first to work on the scripts and his favorite character is wolverine who he finds the most interesting... go figure

In an interview i heard he describes his idea for wolverines subplot in X3 when singer was still attached, something about trying to discover whether he is more animal or man or something like that and there was gonna be a scene when he gets the phoenix on the ground about to kill her but he can't because he loves her ect ect, he mentions no other character lol

Yeah, always trip out Solid Snake is a writer.

I'm expecting a balanced vibe between FC and X2. I don't think he will totally replicate an X2 tone but who knows. I would think once we get to the 70s it's gonna feel way more FC then X2, since it seems to be dealing with history and those leads.

Only issue I have, is the numerous characters and Singer has not proven he can direct high octane action scenes like Vaughn or Ratner.

I'm sorry, but that just doesn't make any sense. X1 and X2 are from Bryan... he's been there from the beginning. Just because FC was in between those and DOFP doesn't mean he's going to now put FC on some pedestal from which he needs to aspire to and replicate.

And I would hope most people ARE NOT expecting the same feel from X1 and X2. In actuality I am hoping for a bit of influence from FC in terms of style and pop, but what I am most expecting is for DOFP to dive into new and exciting territory.

Vaughn does display a crackling energy in his films that Bryan has not really mastered.

I'll just be nice about Ratner and not say anything futher...

oh yeah i think he will do something different but at the same time the relationships and development that vaughn set up with FC won't be abandoned because singer has now taken over, as many seem to think some of the subplots from FC will now be forgotten because it probably wasn't singers vision for FC
