Thank you so much, Wadaltmon. You have been a huge help to me so far. I think that if the formula is strong and sticky enough, it could stick to my hands to help with swinging. And I think I could Practice swing on ropes to increase my upper body strength. Also, I didn't really understand if you were saying that I could use a basketball pump nozzle or couldn't. Now that I've thought about it more I think the most realistic thing would be to use Iron Spider's idea from earlier on in the forums to use a tank on the back. Sorry if I'm bombarding you with questions but I'm only an advanced fifth grader, and even though I'm advanced I'm not great with chemistry. So if I used a tank, do you think I could cut up soda bottles, and use that to make stank? I would then pressurize it to about 150 PSI. How far would this shoot? Then I would connect this to shooters with tubing reinforced with duct tape. The spinneret would be one medium size hole in the middle and three smaller holes around it. How would you recommend heating this? And what could it be made out of? The fluid would come out of a basketball pump nozzle. One more question. Is there a way that I could have something built into the tank to pressurize it when it ran out of air?

Whether you are interested in engineering, chemistry, or just like the concept, the prospect of web shooters has enthralled audiences for 50 years and counting. Taking that concept a bit farther, we here are attempting to make our own web shooters. My name is wadaltmon and I have been working on this project for 6 years and now have a working shooter and am now currently working on the formula. With perseverance and hard work we can accomplish our ultimate goal of building the web shooter!

Yay, a new start to the thread, with Part 3. As WW used to do, might as well put in an introduction.

Anyway, @Hii... no problem. Ask as many questions as you want, I'm here to answer them. Also, about the basketball pump nozzle... sorry, I got off topic on that one. Yeah, you can use it, but most have holes on the side of the needle, so you should either cover it or trim the needle down so there is no longer a hole in the side. And yeah, White_widow used a soda bottle for his first tank, so I assume you can use one. Depending on the formula, 150PSI could shoot a range of distances. I think I had my tank around that 100PSI, and when I shot water, it went around 7 feet; there is a video of it on my Youtube channel. To heat the spinneret, you should take nickel-chromium wire, wrap it around the spinneret, and attach it to a 9V battery and possibly a switch on the trigger, so it only heats when you are shooting and you're not wasting battery. You can make the spinneret out of anything you want really, as long as it doesn't dissolve from your formula or breaks from the high pressure. The metal nozzle thing should work. About the pressurization thing, have you ever seen the things called SodaStream in stores? It's a thing that allows you to make your own soda by putting in a soda base and carbonating it. They sell big CO2 canisters for them for the carbonation of the soda, and you could connect one or two CO2 canisters to your tank, but it might be high pressure and cause the tank to burst. I guess you could just put a little valve on it, that would open kind of like a faucet, to regulate the CO2.
EDIT: Here is the SodaStream thing, and here is a picture of the CO2 thing. Here is a picture of the valve on the CO2 canister and here and here are little regulator things for it (I would suggest zooming out on that first picture of the regulator).

Thanks again, Wadaltmon. I'm only eleven, and don't want my parents to think I'm either childish or crazy. Because of this, is there any really simple way to make this shooter? I don't mean to make you type another long post just to answer my questions, but could you give me some really simple ways to make a pretty good shooter that shoots pretty far? I really don't have access to a lot of wires or complicated things like different valves, so I have to make due with simple things. I want my shooter to shoot pretty far if that affects anything.

By the way, I can contribute to this forum as soon as I see what point most people are up to in this shooter.

So far I know that if you plan on catching something that's falling or catching yourself from a fall, your formula should have a lot of your elastomer. Although catching yourself could probably make your arms come out of their sockets depending on how high you are falling from.

Actually, you could make a far-shooting... shooter... that sounds awkward, but you could really just use a weed sprayer with a CO2 canister.

Would it work if I carried a tank on my back connected to the shooter by tubing, and then using a basketball pump as the nozzle? I really don't know the difference between the valve and the nozzle.

And one more thing. What is the second strongest formula? And what is one that I could make with things around my house that could hold around 100 pounds?

So far on my shooter I have just finished building the pressure vessel and creating a way to pressurize it, I created a cuff, and now I need to make a simple trigger with a loop around my finger. Then just a tube to put the formula in.

Nozzle is where the fluid comes out of, valve regulates when the fluid comes out or not. The second strongest formula... probably the PVA one that White_widow made up, or maybe my new cellulose sulfate one. And I have no idea what one you could make from stuff around your house. You mostly have to go get stuff to make this.

Yeah you have to buy a few things like epoxy, but my prototype has been made of stuff I have around the house like Bare copper wire, aerosol can(aerosol valve), copper tube with end cap, and that's it so far.

Thanks guys. And spidey44, what is the epoxy for? Is it nessecary? Like I said before I could contribute to this forum when I see where people are. Since it seems like most of you already have made prototypes, if there are any flaws I should be able to help with ideas on how to fix them.

I'm not gonna be able to contribute much until the summer in late june/july, so sorry about that guys, but Wadaltmon, i saw your channel and your casing and shooter prototypes are really impressive! Do you mind if i try and replicate your design? and then afterwards tweak it and add or remove stuff etc? Just so i can see how it works, because i find that i can learn stuff a lot easier by doing rather than reading xD.
Anyways Tl;dr: Can i replicate your design??

Anyone know where I could get polyterpene and turpentine?

Well, I wouldn't like it if your web shooter looked exactly the same as mine. Just make it look different for distinguisment.

I don't know if epoxy is necessary because, it depends on the materials you are using. I used it because my pressure vessel is metal and I needed to attach my aerosol valve to it which is also metal. Hii are you trying to create the sticky resin from trees?

Actually, I'm using polyterpene because it's the adhesive used in duct tape. But I can't find any, so there goes that idea. Any strong formulas you know of, spidey44?

Hey Hii, try realwebtech.webs.com. That's where we post all our stuff. Check out the new ideas and web formula sections.
EDIT: Also, I think you could get the same effect of polyterpene from a mixture of some acid, whether it be concentrated or dilute, and turpentine. Just make a solution of these, possibly add a little denatured alcohol to strengthen the reagents, and then let it sit for a while. Then just take the mixture/solution and use that, I think you can produce the same effect. That's mostly just from looking at simpler ways to do this.
