Default Question for all you sci fi readers...

Love it, love the genre. From what I've been told by my father, Isaac Asimov, is great. He's given me some suggestions, but my father and I are obviously different people. So since this is a community, and I have been here for a while, I figured I'd ask some outside opinions, where would be a good place to start with some of his Novels? For those of you who have read any of em?

My dad's got the Foundation Trilogy, so you can try starting there. As far as I know that's all the Asimov he has read; he enjoyed it, so it must be pretty accessible. I'm more into the New Wave/cyber punk side of the genre, so I can't comment on the Foundation Trilogy.

I read I, Robot in the 8th grade and loved it. I didn't get far with Foundation, but I'm sure I'd appreciate it a lot more now than I did back then. I recommend starting off with his robot stories before diving into the heavier stuff.

I think the place to start is for jaqua99 to tell us what types of books he enjoys reading.

Asimov's Robot series involves mysteries in some instances and since I like both SF and Mysteries those are among my favourite Asimov stories.

okay. I enjoy obvious the scifi genre, somewhat mix of space with mystery, if you will. I loved Dreamcatcher by King. My favorite Novel, to date. Time travel as well

Then you would probably like "The End of Eternity" by Asimov.

Start with 'The Caves of Steel'. I love Asimov. He's one of my favourites.

Hmmm, then I think you should try 11/22/63 by Stephen King (if you haven't already). It's about time travel.
