Default Wolverine Diet

After a two-year absence, Hugh has started tweeting again (probably because he has his one-man show in SF next week and Reel Steel coming up, plus Wolverine). Today he tweets this:

http://twitter.com/#!/RealHughJackman

2 all who are asking about my Wolverine diet – credit goes 2 my trainer don scott. there are 2 phases the build up & the cutting up. U have 2 go easy. build up per my pal Dwayne Johnson–600cals/day. if I wake in the pm I have a protein shake. 1 scoop natural protein & 1 scoop glutamine w/ h2o

For breakfast at 7am – 8 egg omelette. Only 2 yolks. w/ 1 serving low fat cottage cheese & 1 toasted muffin plain, no butter. At 8:30am I have 1 cup rice & 8oz cooked minced turkey. 1 scoop protein & 1 scoop glycomaize (easily absorbed carb) 30 mins b4 training. I train at 10am for 1 hr. during that I have 1 scoop glycomaize & bcaa powder. At 11am I have 1 scoop glycomaize & 1 scoop protein.

Starting at 12pm I eat 5 meals at 2hr intervals. 8oz lean protein, steamed veggies, & carbs (rice or yams) at 12pm & 2pm only. Then at 9pm I have 1 scoop casein (slow release powder). Seriously though u need 2 build up 2 this & make sure your dr says its ok for u. go eeeeaaaaasssssyyy.

Surely that 600cals/day is a typo. That's dangerously low. Or does that say he's eating "-600" than his bulking caloric intake? Cuz that'd make much more sense

As do I, just as long as it's a quality director and the not the first director that tells FOX they can keep under a certain budget.

It's 6,000 a day, not 600.

That would be a nice thing about being a big time actor. They make it your job to get in awesome shape.

A lot of calorie dense food. Easier than it sounds

Take all celeb workouts with a grain of salt. Their PT's would never give that info away for free.

Why not? You may be built like Hugh Jack but won't be nearly as handsome or charming or have actual acting chops.

I don't see the reason to hide it. Honestly, it's not like they have some super secret workout and meal plan that will get you shredded. It's all pretty common knowledge (if you're into fitness). The hard part is trying to actually do it.

It's easy for Hugh to have five meals a day, when you have a personal chef preparing everything for you. Try doing it when you have a normal job and a family. Or if you're like me, trying to juggle it between college classes and homework, and then trying to find the time to make all the food yourself.

PT's whole operation is making you dependent on them. The exact rep/set scheme as well as the diet they put together took years to develop. Why would they release it in a magazine when they can charge you $50 an hour to show it to you in person?

So uh, I know the last reply was almost a month ago but I just wanted to say that maybe Hugh meant a surplus of 600 calories per day.

No, it's 6000 calories a day. Hugh mentions it in every interview when asked about it. He has to eat ever two hours and it's mostly steamed chicken, broccoli and other stuff (can't remember what, I think mostly protein) - I do remember he says no carbs after 2:00 p.m.

Groceries are quite expensive and even if a person followed the diet and had some intense training routines and slept alot my guess is they'd gain about 4lbs of muscle per month or less if they already had alot when they started.

It's cool Jackman is taking the role seriously, but a comic book physique is nigh impossible. I bet even aunt May has a sixpack. Maybe comic book artist should slim characters to look more like their hollywood counterparts.
