Leonardo Dicaprio, would be so awesome. Needless to say he is somewhat picky about his roles.
Matthew Mcconaughey, I have not thought about that. I just watched Mud the other day. The guy is doing nothing but putting out great performances now. |

I've always liked the idea of Leo for the Joker. I was watching Joker's Favor of BTAS a few nights ago and he reminded me of Calvin Candie a little bit. I think Leo would go for the more devilish but explosive Joker we've seen at times.

He was the best part of origins. He even outshined Jackman, IMO.

But can Matthew be charming enough for a believably deceptive Lex?

Being charming is his speciality. Can he with a shaven head, come off as uber intelligent?

I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know who Superman is, let alone who Lex is. Funny because he played an amazing Elseworlds Superman in Unbreakable.
Oh Bruce Willis you were everything and suddenly you became a joke.

Eh... all I'd see is Bruce Willis. And that's pretty much all he would be playing it as.

If Brolin as Bruce, we definitely need an older Lex. Brad Pitt or McConaughey would be fantastic

I don't count Looper because even though he was good in it, he was still playing himself (or at least the persona that appears in 90% of his films)... so much so that Joseph Gordon Leavitt actually had to study Willis' movies so he could act more like him. |

It depends. Do they want a younger Lex or older.
younger being 30ish, older upper 40's mid 50's. I would absolutely love to see decaprio, day-lewis, or mortensen in this role. I know they have been suggested for Batman, but gosling or fassbender both would make a good lex, as would goode. goode to me comes off more as a Lex than he ever would a Batman. Regardless of who is cast, I hope they get a huge name for Lex.

I'm pretty sure Mortensen would never do a superhero film. He was targeted for Ra's al Ghul and General Zod and turned down both.

Side note. IF the villain somehow ends up being Brainiac, then I would like for him to be voiced by either hugo weaving ( been saying that for years) or cumberbatch.

Yeah, it's a little tough to picture Phoenix in the role, but it would be a pretty exciting announcement if it happened. I think he could give us a Lex that could be close to Ledger's Joker. At least I hope so.

Willis is the worst choice for Lex, followed by Queen Latifah.

I somewhat doubt that he would turn anything down. If he was willing to do a fantasy movie, of which he seems quite proud, then I don't see the logic in excluding other genre movies. I imagine it depends on their prospective quality. There is also a sense of relativity amongst "superhero" roles in terms of their dramatic merit. I doubt any actor would turn down The Joker, if the script and director seemed right. With that in mind, why not other compelling Batman villains? Most of them are fairly complex and psychological. I'm sure I could convince Viggo that Two Face might be a character of interest.

It's because he is bald, there is no reason to suggest him outside of that.

Phoenix would be excellent. In Gladiator he played someone kind of Lex like in a way. Just more childish but he can definitely play Lex. Also for diversity sake, The Master is fine example, which is his best performance. |

I know this would never happen but imagine how much better would Superman/Batman would be if someone like Daniel Day-Lewis was Lex Luthor:
I believe Superman's greatest super-villain, scratch that one of the greatest bad guys in any form of fiction should be played by top tier actors. |
