Lol are you serious?? Can't tell.

It's just a real shame and mistake. It's all opinion ultimately, but this movie is a pure spectacle. 50-whatever percent??? Please.

Yeah, he did, he appeared on Fox Business news saying that.

Nice to see a Cinemascore of A-.

My wife was just telling me that on her boards for pregnant ladies (they do exist), everyone has been praising Man of Steel and calling it a man movie that tricks you with a chick flick beginning. They still love it, though.

Minor correction, but he's a she with pink hair. Not what I expected for the person overseeing Rottentomatoes.com.

I hope the next films up the ante with the action, and include a combat-ready villain like Mongul, Darkseid, Vandal Savage, etc. Lex should not be shoehorned in for nostalgia's sake.

It's not that he had to kill him, but Jor-el was about to save his son's life and Zod was resolved to kill that son. That sounds like a reason to me. But not an obligation for sure.

He's dead. But Superman could.

Yeah as much as I absolutely loved the movie I could understand-- being at my most critical or in my worst mood-- a score in the low 70s or high 60s. Maybe.

But 56%?!? Hell no.

It's avg rating is 6.3/10 which is higher than WWZ 's 6.2 and FF6's 6.2 yet WWZ is at 76% and FF6 is at 70%

Saw MOS the 2nd time this morning. In my opinion, the positives outweigh the negatives, which are pretty minor considering how great a film this is. For the sheer enjoyment factor alone, I give it a 9.

Exactly! At least somewhere in high 70s.

Man of Steel (IMAX 3D)

A damn incredible film, my man Zack has done it again and thankfully he rebounded after Sucker Punch. If DC wants to build on their cinematic universe, this is the movie to do it on. Loved the scenes with Krypton as the opener and Russell Crowe as Jor El is one of the few who stole the show. Cavill as Superman was near perfect in my eyes. Another show stealer was both Shannon as Zod and Traue as Faora. Faora kicking ass was incredible. The action was non stop and that's what I wanted out of Superman for years. If there's any complaints I would say that the pace wasn't as good as I hoped but I have the feeling it'll be a lot better once the directors cut show up. Also, don't bother watching this in either IMAX or 3D, the IMAX doesn't show the entire screen and the 3D was barely there, except for the space scenes.
9/10

Doesn't even touch my Top 10.

I saw it twice, first time in IMAX, second time in standard, and I didn't really notice much of a different, other than IMAX had better sound throughout the theater.

But I agree with this, my only gripe after the second viewing was the pacing. There are certain places where I felt they needed a few more seconds to marinate more and let the impact be more felt. But other than that, there was nothing to ruin the movie as most other reviews are suggesting. For this day and age in CBMs, this was the exact kind of film that I think a lot of people were waiting for.

Haven't written a formal one yet, but here's what I've said so far about it on FB...

"I think Man of Steel is this year's Amazing Spider-Man for me:

A movie that's technically good, but missing some of the key elements of the character, that it ends up just making me nostalgic for the imperfect but somehow more enjoyable preceeding films."

"I... Didn't really like it. It felt strange. Like a disaster movie rather than anything hopeful or even character-driven. The entire cast seemed oddly wasted due to either lack of screen time or lack of quality characterization. The pacing and plot structure was pretty terrible, and the entire movie played like some stale form of recited past events than anything alive or immersive."

"Seriously though, I would say it wasn't well written for the following reasons...

1). The pacing was very poor. We just kept getting jerked in and out of flashbacks with no real flow or nuance between the transitions. Not to mention the numerous action scenes threw a lot of the movie off kilter. Making it seem like the last hour of the movie was just what should've been the ending battle done over and over again.

2). The dialogue for many of the characters was way too heavy handed. Pretty much every single thing Jonathan Kent said was purely to drive the film's big character arc for Superman. Jor-El also suffered heavily from that.

3). Lack of characterization. With so much of the dialogue going to purely advancing the plot and/or Supes' character arc, pretty much none of the supporting cast was given a chance to really breathe any life into their characters. For instance, Lawrence Fishburn just didn't FEEL like Perry White, he just felt like a cardboard cutout who's only purpose was story advancement.

4). All of those little moments that Becky and I have mentioned that would have built some emotional investment and excitement for the characters and movie were all missing as well, ultimately making the movie seem rather hollow and lifeless."

When you first got in the editing room, how long was your assembly cut?

SNYDER: I think it was about 3 hours and 10 minutes, something like that.

How long was your first cut?

SNYDER: Just under 3 hours.

Of course,

"SNYDER:* We didn’t cut out any scenes, except for one. * We cut one small scene out.* There’s nothing missing."

I highly doubt a DC would be anything special.

Edit: seeing the post above ahhh

I would like them to restore the Kent's finding him scene

It probably was considering Snyder said nothing major was cut.

Yeah, like Rachel said, they probably cut multiples of the same scene. That's how they usually edit movies.
