I can't WAIT for a scene where Cap tells a high ranking military/SHIELD/Government person to get ****ed. I love those moments.

I would like it if Steve did actually tell them to "get ****ed"

Me too, I wasn't joking. I want this movie to have the moment where Cap firmly establishes exactly what role he wants to play in the modern world... Not a tool or prop for the Government, but his own man who does what he always wanted to be, standing up for the little guy and to always be... 'a goot mehn'

The shield from Avengers was also missing the multiple bullet marks that were on the shield for the entirety of CA:TFA.
There was only ever one vibranium shield made. Howard tells Steve outright that it was all the vibranium they had. And, considering enough time passed to get Steve an apartment in the city and design his new uniform, I'd say a little spray paint on the shield is not outside the realm of possibility between thawing Steve and the events of TA.

Two different shields?

C'mon guys. That literally makes no sense. There's only one on the planet (as explained in C:TFA). Why would he want to use a substandard knockoff? It's far more likely it's been painted over to be muted in it's presentation, much like his new suit. I mean after all, in C:TFA it didn't start out with colors.

I can easily see Cap's SHIELD supervisors giving the Mighty Shield a new paintjob to match his stealthy new blue suit.

The teaser poster is clearly his original shield with the paint chipping off probably due to a fight with WS or Crossbones.

The teaser poster is not good.

I hate the look and the font that they used.

It was all the Vibranium they had at the time. But if one of the new movies with release dates that they haven't announced is Black Panther, chances are Vibranium could be coming back.

I'm not saying it's likely that there's another shield. The poster does looks like a paint job, but I still won't rule it out.

Would he actually say the f word? I can imagine ultimate Cap saying it, but not 616 Cap, and i think they patterned MCU Cap's personality a lot more after the latter. Kinda like the difference between ultimate Cap agreeing with the meme that the French are cowards ("You think 'A' on my forehead stands for 'France?'") while 616 Cap thinks they're patriots because he saw first hand how the French guerillas selflessly fought the German occupation (mentioned during the Winter Soldier storyline).

Then again i haven't read enough Cap appearances to say for sure whether he would say the f word. He did tell a fighter pilot during Civil War to watch his potty mouth though when the guy said "Jeezus." And we know that 616 Cap is definitely not a hypocrite--he practices what he preaches.

Unless of course you just meant he would tell them to metaphorically get ****ed, then ignore what i just coz i totally agree lol.

For the date, I guess. Looks militaristic and fits with everything we know about the movie. It works for me.

EDIT: A thought on the "4/4/14" font - It's leading me to believe that they've possibly modified the "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" logo text in some way.

Coulson did say that the world needed some old-fashioned heroism. I think that will be a major theme of this movie. Steve's brand of heroism emerging through the cynicism of the modern world. Steve and Natasha could each teach the other skills and ideas that both will need. They could compliment each other nicely, as each has valid beliefs and world views.

You're talking Phase 3. We're still in Phase 2. Let's not get ahead of ourselves shall we?

I thought those unannounced movies were part of Phase 2...is Phase 2 just Iron Man 3, Cap 2 and Thor 2?

edit: forgot about Guardians.

-No words, just the date. Simple and effective.
-Very symbolic.

Cons:
-WHY U NO GIVE US A LITTLE WINTER SOLDIER TEASE, MARVEL?!
-Not quite as great as the first Cap teaser poster, which is one of my favorites ever.

So, it's good for a teaser poster. I did want it to be more Winter Soldier-y though.

In my opinion it's appropriate that the teaser poster is simply Cap's battle-scarred shield. Captain America is the main character and therefore the focus should be firmly on him, regardless of the antagonist and other subsidiary characters. The simplicity of the poster makes it visually striking yet immediately identifiable as Captain America's iconic shield, which is exactly what was needed from a teaser poster.

The poster's release gave CATWS a significant bump in Twitter buzz yesterday. It leapt into the top films in terms of tweets, with an overwhelming positive to negative ratio. Other social media was abuzz about it, as well. This bodes well for the film's prospects at the box office, I think.

I'm sure Thor: TDW and CA: TWS will get another bump once Marvel's SDCC panel hits on July 20th.

Given that the paint on the shield in the MCU seems to come off easier than the paint on the shield in the comics I see no reason why the MCU shield cant be painted over and over, in fact, I think it would have to be constantly retouched. Obviously, the story somehow involves it being painted in different colours this time around, possibly just to match Cap's S.H.I.E.L.D inspired uniform.

It reminds me that in the comics, Cap used a different coloured shield when he was the Captain, athough if memory serves that was made from just plain ol' adamantium, as John Walker Cap was using the vibranium shield at the time; as adamantium is out of bounds cinematically.

Yeah, I guess after that long in ice the paint can't be THAT great in the first place during the 40's lol

Yeah, didn't mean he'd actually drop the F bomb, just that he'd tell the authority figures where to stuff it, so to speak.
