The up and coming younger players will gain experience and learn from the more established players and eventually replace them when the established players get to the end of their time at the club if the younger players are good enough.

This is something similar to what Wenger used to do but stopped doing a while ago now.
Agreed. I'd much rather a smaller squad of quality players a la Bayern Munich, than a squad of huge numbers and full of crod.

World's dumbest subs lost them that game.

Arbeloa?

Why didn't torres come off and been replaced with villa at that time, who was miles better.

Why wasn't fabregas?

Also a lack of Xabi alonso hurt them as well.

Honestly, I had issues with all vincente del bosque's substitutes.

Mata had no play maker to feed him the ball.

Brazil however seemed to be playing a much better team friendly game than in years past.

Basically the key to beating both teams is to basically do what Barca & Spain tend to do to other teams & that's get your 2 or 3 striker(s)/winger(s) to press their defenders & deep CM's giving them no time on the ball to settle. That's how they get away with only really having 1 true defender in their side, Puyol. However once you put them under that type of pressure, if they can't play their way out of it, their weaknesses in defence start to show.

Then once you get the ball, you need to make them work to get it back. United did do this briefly in both finals against Barca, however couldn't sustain it for the entire game, the pressing I mean, either due to a lack of fitness or a change in tactics.. or both.

So Thiago wants a buy out clause if he doesn't get enough playing time at United if you believe reports. This has a "Cesc Effect" feel to it. Barca DNA and all that.

Totally agree on Vialli, lovely bloke and he new his stuff. TBH the usual pundits on the BBC are so clueless they seem to have no concept of football outside the PL, they desperately need new blood. Some good younger pundits like Le Saux, Dixon and Gavin Peacock (who actually knew his ****) have all been moved on to pander the egos of Lawro and Hansen. I always find it telling how much guys like Seedorf and Leonardo really show them up whenever they're on it. Hell 'Arry was made to sound like a genius during the euro's.
Nice one, is the season for promotion Kit?

Agreed, I heard Hansen is done after this season and he should take Shearer and Lawro with him. Sadly the Beeb have lost the good replacements they had due to their refusal to refresh MOTD. It's sad seeing Dixon getting brief soundbytes on ITV as that abomination Chiles pretends to have a clue while sucking up to Keane.

It looks like your strict wage structure caused more problems than solutions as it simply alienated the top players and tied you to lazy mediocre players who were happy to salt away the cash and do nothing. I see you've loaned Djourou out and sold Mannone to Sunderland for 2M.

I know what you mean mate, last week Higuain was practically a done deal according to the papers, since then? nothing. Same with Thiago, the press practically had him trotting out at Old Trafford for a photo op, now it's looking likely he'll stay at Barca.

Villa should have came on at half time for Torres but Del Bosque seems to have a blind spot where Nandy is concerned. However Arbeloa had to come off as well because Neymar was taking him apart.

I think Javi Martinez should have started alongside Busquets in order to combat Paulinho and Gustavo who ate up Xavi.

Paulinho to Spurs is done apparently, could be the best buy by a PL club this summer.

Arsenal have had an initial 19M bid for Lars Bender turned down but it shows intent IMO, that's a good opening salvo before going back with a better offer. Arsenal have completed the signing of Yaya Sanogo.

PSV insist Manchester United target will be staying in Holland

Manchester United target Kevin Strootman has committed himself to spending another season at PSV Eindhoven, according to the Dutch club's technical manager.

New United boss David Moyes officially started work at Old Trafford yesterday and he has been tipped to make the Netherlands international one of his first signings at the club.

The Premier League champions need strengthening in the middle of the park and Strootman, 23, is considered one of the finest young midfielders in Europe. But Moyes could be forced to seek alternatives as Marcel Brands, the PSV technical manager, is adamant his star man will remain at the club this summer.

He told De Telegraaf: "[Kevin] Strootman we do not want to lose. He also knows himself that he will play at PSV for another season."

If Moyes is unable to secure Strootman, it doesn't bode well for future transfers.

I think it might have more to do with us changing our mind as we have been linked with Kondogbia over the weekend.

I don't get why he signed for Spurs. I have a funny feeling that there is something shady about Daniel Levy.

It really has. Many of the decisions the club have made since moving to the new ground have really been perplexing. Yeah, we finally seem to be able to get rid of some of the dross, though it mainly comes down to having to wait for their contracts to run down to severe all ties. Loans don't do anything for me, as their is a more than good chance the dross will return at the end of it.

Yeah, it's one of the main reasons I don't invest myself in rumours and hear say anymore. I don't really take any notice until 'said' player is holding up an Arsenal shirt on the official website.

We need a new left back, people are saying it's not a problem position but it is. Evra had a decent season last year going forward but he let us down defensively time and again. He was got out of position in big games, I remember him being at fault for Augero's winner for City.

Baines would be an excellent signing. Let's not forget that Ferguson tried to sign him last year as well.

Everton actually played good football last year. Yes, they played direct but they didn't just loft it forward. In Felliani they had a player who would not only get to the ball but would often bring the ball down and play in other team mates. It's really know different to the long diagonal's Rio plays to the wingers.

I would welcome sigining of Baines but I fear Evra would want to leave United nor he would want to be second fiddle to Baines. Also i don't think Buttner needs s loan somewhere else since with Fabio returning he wouldn't get a chance to start.

Baines wouldn't give us more defensive security than Evra, in fact he'd arguably offer less defensive security given that Evra's biggest problem was obscenely fast right wingers & Evra is quicker than Baines. Baines is also more of a vunerability in the air because he is not only shorter than Evra but less spring to get off the ground to compensate for his height.

Don't get me wrong Baines is decent, but his age & the fact Everton will want to squeeze every penny for him makes him a silly purchase, especially when Evra had arguably his best season in a United shirt last season & looks like he could play for another 2/3 years until his legs/stamina go. With Fabio returning & Buttner also at the club with Johnny Evans all capable of playing LB, it's really an area we don't need to be wasting 16m on.. not when we've just lost Paul Scholes in the middle of an already weak CM & potentially Rooney.

I'd take Baines as well, but Baines should still be Evra's cover if he did arrive as Evra is still better. Not to mention he is a defensive leader.

I saw that Djourou was only a loan but Mannone and Bendtner were sold right and the rest released? How many more is there to shift?

This summer seems to have been the worst in a while as far as transfer business goes, maybe due to the Confed cup and U21's, but deals seem to be getting strung out to the point of it becoming infuriating.
