Default New director? (yes no why)

Ive defended snyder many times. But after watching BvS I dont think hes the right man for the DCEU. Do you guys agree? If so, who should replace him for Justice League?

Yes. Snyder has proved that he has trouble managing multiple plot points and weaving them into a smooth narrative.

Get someone who knows how to tell a coherent story and convey character arcs so that the audience become interested and invested in what happens.

Snyder can make good visuals, but he goes way, way over the top with action without setting up the story and characters and making them interesting.

Snyder had two chances to make an awesome DC film and both of them have had serious pacing, editing and plot issues. It's time to replace him.

This and he is clearly too attached to Frank Miller's work. IMO he botched BvS. It should have been a great film, but it was just an okay one.

I want to see George Miller take on Justice League.

I think it's a bigger problem than the director. There's clearly no one driving this train, it's just a bunch of train cars loosely connected together by inertia (i.e. studio execs). Or like a TV series without a showrunner, just different directors and writers for each episode answering directly to the network. Changing Snyder out would do as much good as changing Goyer out for Terrio without someone smart, decisive, familiar with the comics mythology AND what fans are receptive to, and tough. Basically DC needs a Feige. What's Paul Dini up to?

Nope. As flawed as Batman V Superman was, it was also a very interesting and ballsy take on superheroes. It may not have all flowed together like it should have, but I'm excited to see more. And I hope they won't tone down this take on the story. It's interesting, and it's different.

Yes, snyder still thinks he's directing watchmen and deconstructing heroes.

Yes, because there was so much potential here and Snyder and Terrio turned what could have been brilliant into something that was the opposite.

They brought everyone else down.

Yes. Nolan, Marvel, Fox (with X-Men) and Raimi have raised the bar and shown that you can have great superhero movies, with both big name characters and lesser known ones. Batman and Superman, along with Spiderman are considered to be the greatest heroes and they are the most popular ones too. They should be in great movies like Nolan's Batman ones, not middling ones like MOS and outright awful ones like BVS.

Batman and Superman should be in great movies and ones that are considered to be amongst the very best in the genre. Snyder is clearly not capable of taking these characters there, and there is more than enough evidence to back that up at this stage. When you look at all the movies that he has made, his best ones are movies that are middling and just ok. He is not the man to take these characters to their peak like Nolan was with Batman, or even achieve great highs with them like others have done.

A Superman movie as a courtroom drama could be brilliant. Kind of like Miracle on 34th Street.

I agree with this to an extent,. maybe have Supes explain himself but i still would love for the bomb to go off. Him just standing there after the explosions is really the only part of the movie that stands out to me

Snyder clearly has a love affair with Frank Miller and Christopher Nolan. He also has no concept of how a story should be told. His films lack fundamental awareness of narrative. He needs either an airtight, bulletproof script that he absolutely is not allowed to deviate from, or he needs a plotline that is singularly focused.

But since neither of those things work for modern films, especially films that are setting up entire cinematic universes, he's gotta go.

Of course he needs to go. And those of you saying that you personally like his style, it's a bad reason to endorse him. It's not about what an individual likes. it's about how people generally feel about his movies. Snyder movies are not generally as popular as movies from other directors such as Bryan Singer, Joss Whedon or Nolan. If Warner Bros. continue with him, it will lead to death of DCU. So stop supporting Snyder on the basis of your personal taste. If you want DC to succeed, then hope that Warner Bros wake up and drop Snyder ASAP, even if that means delaying JL.

Yes, yes, yes YES !!!!!!

Same page. Sadly, Snyder took everything he did right on Man of Steel and chucked it out the door for B v S, and took everything he did wrong and made it worse !

What still blows my mind is that Sndyer, Mr Action himself, couldn't pull off exciting and engaging action sequences using the two greatest superheroes and their most famous battle - I mean Miller ****ing did the storyboards for him 30 years ago ! But still he couldn't make it into something other than a generic superhero fight.

The Batman v Superman fight in the animated Dark Knight Returns is much better - because they figured out that it makes no sense for Batman to get the upper hand UNTIL THE END OF THE ****ING FIGHT !!!!!!!!

In DKR Batman is fighting for survival, and keeping Superman off balance without actually hurting him much, Superman is clearly not even trying and still Bats isn't doing any serious damage - until the kryptonite climax. That's why we can accept that fight, but in Snyder's version Superman gets his ass kicked from very early on, the fight is too one-sided.

And then the turning point, with the whole "martha" thing. Well okay, I get that would have snapped Bats out of his homicidal stupid rage, but it should have been a massive character moment where we see our heroes bond for the first time, and all want to cheer................Snyder totally dropped the ball.

Let's not even go near Doomsday, another classic comic book story totally mishandled. Ugh !

If George Miller could recreate the excitement of the action and the chemistry between Max and Furiosa between the leads in a JL movie then it would be the greatest superhero movie ever. MMFR is IMHO the best movie of 2015 by leaps and bounds, at least in terms of action/adventure. It's the best mad max movie, and yet has the simplest story " max has to help a bunch of supermodels cross the desert while being chased by the cast of cirque de soleil"...... yet the movie is ****ing incredible. Even watching it on TV I get excited - in the cinema I had to peel my fingers off the handrests, it deserved every accolade it got, and more.

If the guy who brought us that could do a JL movie, I would weep for joy.

I agree with most of what you said except for the last part. MMFR was just a car chase movie with a simple plot. The biggest issue is that everyone thinks they need to remake The Dark Knight. That will never happen.

I personally hated MOS. No development. Just a string of videos put together without any development.

If you can't get Nolan (and you can't) or JJ Abrams (and you can't), I would try to get Guillermo del Toro.

But I agree with you with the Martha point. It is were Batman comes to the understanding that Superman is not an Alien, he is like us. He has a mother, a father and a family he cares for. He is human. That whole scene was under-played.

That much is obvious. There is no changing the first Justice League movie, but there's little hoping there is some editing and changes.

Agreed, it used a lot of DKR without truly understanding what DKR was about it.
He should have used more modern comics as well as more influence or balance in developing the story.
The new clips showcasing Superman. I felt with this movie, it could have easily perceived that Superman is the villain , because you had little to no showing and (woman reaching up to superman,), it felt it was more building up how the world hates Superman(that scene with Jonathan Kent talking about how he tried to save his farm, ending up s, when honestly it should have been more setting up a more even divide in the world or at least the same controversy being handled on Batman's world, which honestly felt poorly set up in my opinion. I would have loved Clark interviewing different people (From police to citizens he saved on Batman in a DKR/Spider-Man style scene, to help form his opinion on Bruce).
Same with Batman, I feel like the set up to develop the character was poor
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
I hated that scene at the beginning where the bats lifted him up, even though I realized it was a dream,it should have been handled better, I would have preferred Bruce slowly stands up with the bats surrounding him, and then turns into a man or something of that nature

Agreed. That could have been a perfect scene with Superman revealing his intentions and motives(Something similar to Superman Returns where Superman tells Lois "I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn't need a savior, but every day I hear people crying for one." , have people look convinced , I would have rather have Superman realize what was about to happen save

It think the problem was the opposite with BvS it tried hard to develop and set up the story, but it didn't make them interesting or sympathetic. It should have been handled better, honestly.

I'm happy with Snyder and I even see a story and good characters with nice arcs and everything. The action and visuals are unmatched. I like his storytelling and visuals.

Definitely want more Snyder.
