Well I promised animex nothing. So besides cry myself to sleep that night I'll probably just go see Amazing Spider-Man 2 again.

I hope both do very good. I need a good mouthwash to get rid of the taste of Matthew Brodrick and what ever the **** that movie was.

Haha yes. I actually hope Godzilla does well too. There's just not a single fiber in my body that leads me to believe for even a split second it will do better than ASM2. Or even similar numbers for that matter...

If my rating is 8.5 or above and the critics/users 80% or above, I'm happy.

Since most critics took issue with revisiting the origin for the first one and the second won't have that problem, there's a chance of that happening.

If Man of Steel can get a 56% on RT, anything can happen. This shows us that when early reviews come in, we should take them with a grain of salt and wait for user reviews.

I think it's lowest will be around 60%, highest 85% for either user or critic ratings. I mean, if Spider-Man 3 can reach a 63%...

I predict something along these lines:

"For anyone's problems and misgivings with the retreading of Spidey's origin in the last film, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 more than takes advantage of it's role as a sequel by mining the best parts of it's predecessor, and what we loved about Spider-Man 2, and goes into full swing with a bold, fun, exciting and new direction. Both old and new cast members are at the top of their game, including Andrew Garfield as the titular character, who really gets the chance to shine this time around, and newcomer Jamie Foxx, a bit of inspired casting as the tragic yet menacing villain Electro. Equal parts entertainment and heart, if this film is a sign of things to come, sign us up for the next one.

If ends up being around that or a little higher, I'll be very happy.

I will be satisfied with an 80%. Not gonna be greedy with it. Heck, I'd take 75%. Really though, it doesn't matter what the reviews are since I form my own opinions.

I predict at worse 72-77%, at best 87-93%. I'm gonna guess 89% if everything goes well with the final product.

Thing is, there are still a lot of people who think this franchise is unnecessary, and that Tobey Maguire is the true Peter Parker. So even though the origin is over with, it still has a lot going against it.

I'm sure critics will suck it up this time around considering it isn't an origin story and judge it on it's own merits.

I would like to see it go into the 90s, that's where the "elite" CBM movies stand. I think if everything
goes well and all the actors pull their weight, it could reach that milestone.

The only movies that are in the 90s are:

Spider-Man 2, TDK, the Avengers, and Iron Man.

It's really hard to make it into the 90s haha. I don't think TASM2 will. Probably 70s-80s.

I do hope so. I don't know if anyone was expecting it from either TDK or The Avengers so... I dont see why Spider-Man doesn't have another shot at it.

And we've got Andrew and Emma.

Superman: The Movie, American Splendor, Ghost World and Men in Black as well.

Here's my take on what TAS-M 2's critic response could also be:

"Marc Webb's ambitious take on Spider-Man is breathtaking with its visuals and cast, but lacks in other ways such as its try and try again approach of bringing to life a competent villain."

I'm sure the film will get rave reviews with its cast and the visual, as well as being ambitious with its story, but a part of me still feels like it won't hit the spot with giving us a great villain.

A very balanced prediction. Nice job.

To which villain are we referring??

I'd like to see the movie make it into the 90s.

It's not gonna help what happened with Woodley/The whole MJ thing.

Critics love her, and it hangs the old "troubled production" thing on the franchise.

Some critics may blame the disgusting way fanboys reacted to her perceived "beauty", or lack thereof, which will also drive critics crazy.

Movie has an uphill battle

Not really. Most people aren't really aware of the whole MJ being taken out of the movie, so I doubt it will really make a difference when it comes to ratings.

Also, SW isn't that famous right now.

You're tying to predict critics response about a year out?

Almost no one here could predict MoS final critic reaction a day before the reviews were released lol.

Imo, both, but if anything, it will be referring to the main villain: Electro.

I'm hoping that ASM2 is a better quality film over ASM but I hope that it's not by a large margin. IMO if ASM2 raises the bar too high there won't be any room for ASM3 or even 4 to expand and we'll end up seeing a decline in the overall value. I would rather the movies get better with each installment rather than, say, the peak of their quality be at #2.

Ahh, I see. One more question, are you saying the villain(s) will be undermined due to the script or the actor's performances?
