Well, I think we can all agree on the better Faora.

Stamp, by miles.
In fact the true villain in the movie is Faora.

I'll always remember Shannon's Zod not just because it was an awesome portrayal with depth but because he had his own signature line. Instead of KNEEL BEFORE ZOD, it was I WILL FIND HIM.

Some are poking fun at it, but I loved that whole season and how he says it multiple times before shouting it. There was an intensity there that was pretty frightening in my book. Like when Michael Shannon said that, I didn't doubt for a second he would fulfill that promise - he had a presence that just told you he's not messing around, even Lara felt it and knew he was right.

So, if for nothing else, I'll remember Zod for that line AND when he says "...Now I have no people" before the final fight, which got me teary-eyed.

Well when it comes to Zod I've seriously like all 3 equally

Terence Stamp was amazing in the first two Superman movies but that villain wouldn't work now on the big screen.

Callum Blue was excellent on Smallville and played a good updated version of Stamp's without been as campy

Michael Shannon played the part most different, he was nothing like Terence Stamp's Zod which was great for this movie because that wouldn't have worked.

So I'd say all 3 were on par as they fit the worlds they were portrayed in.

Shannon, I think he was given more depth for the character. In STM Zod stood trial but it wasn't clear why.
MOS cleared that up. He wanted to overthrow the council because he thought they lacked back-bone.

Stamp. In their respective movies I feel that Stamp did a better job. Not Shannon's fault, think that he could've done better if he had more to work with.

more to work with??

zod was the most developed in mos second to clark

you understood his motivation and his frustration with the counsel his point of view to want krypton back, etc.

he probably had the most dialogue too lol

Shannons Zod was more defined and had a purpose to his evil.

Stamps was iconic for its time no doubt, but Shannons was the better "character" I felt.

MOS has a better story for general Zod.

I say Stamp's Zod is pretty imposing. He just wasn't a 3D character.
Besides, he'd have to be a memorable villain for Loki to reference him in The Avengers

This is a great topic. I don't think there's a wrong answer, even if it's an opinion. Even Callum was enjoyable.

All performed very well for their versions. Stamp was more quotable.

All 3 gets my vote. So i wont vote.

I think the genetic soldier angle for Shannon's take cheapens everything the character stood for. When you consider his poorly executed plan, which was all too easy for Superman & Lois to completely dismantle, he was a rather incompetent strategist by every measure.

Other than that, his malevolent, menacing personality('I will find him!' For what? You're going to jail bucko...good luck finding him from there) wasn't consistent with that either.

Shannon's Zod was little more than a genetically engineered simpleton.

So many qoute worthy lines from Stamp, so memorable and not just because it is part of culture. Will be interesting to see which Shannon Zod lines are remembered in a year from now let alone 30 years from now.

Almost certainly none. Nothing he said strikes as a quotable. We'll probably see some obligatory image macros, but I believe that it will start and end there.

That would make more sense if he was losing the poll.
But who knows what the poll would look like in a couple years time, but right now your statement doesn't make sense.

The film did make it clear why. Zod spearheaded an insurrection because he wished to be the supreme ruler. Krypton was Heaven and he wanted to be God. Get it? Kneel before God?

He vowed vengeance on Jor-El and his heirs because he was cast out of Heaven and sentenced to an eternity in Hell. You know, the whole "sins of the father" motif.

"You think your son is safe ? I WILL FIND HIM" was delivered more powerfully by Shannon than Stamp's "You will bow down before me, Jor-El! First you, and then one day, Jor-El, your heirs!"

So Shannon wins.

I dunno that was one of Stamp's best scenes, I'd say they're on par

Shannon's intensity showed in his eyes when he looked at Lara and threatened her.

As for Stamp, he did fine but not that impressive. (IMO.)

Shannon

all great in their own ways...though Blue/Welling had greater chemistry IMO.
