I think in hindsight, QoS wasn't bad at all, but it did slow the momentum down for this new Bond series with Craig. Like a slight stumble.

The epileptic editing during the action scenes was really annoying, and the movie needed more downtime scenes in order to catch its breath, but it wasn't terrible. I heard a rumor back before we knew anything about Skyfall that Rachel Weisz might play the leader of Quantum. She would be a fantastic Bond villain and I fully support this idea.

Having the leader of SPECTR or Quantum being a woman would be so cool. Especially if they cast an actress that was both beautiful and physically imposing enough that you would buy her being able to beat the crap out of Bond with her bare hands. Hmm... Uma Thurman?

No. The idea of a female Bond villain isn't about her physically going toe to toe with Bond but having the gravitas of being relentlessly ruthless. Such actresses that spring to mind for such a part for me could be the likes of Meryl Streep, Tilda Swinton, Kristen Scott Thomas and Gillian Anderson.

People seem to think that Physically imposing somehow means means that they must be female meathead types. I'm not asking for EON to call up Joanie Laurer or something. I'm saying that while the chops to be seen as cunning and ruthless is important, I also don't want some waify supermodel type. For a female head of SPECTER I would want a tough, yet elegant broad... Know whut I mean?

Like Noomi rapace?

Some suggested Bruno ganz on imdb for blofeld. Remember him from 'downfall'? Best suggestion for blofeld I've ever heard

Helen Mirren, Rachel Weisz, Jessica Chastain, Julianne Moore, Noomi Rapace, Rooney Mara, and Melissa Leo would all be great choices.

And Risico doesn't roll of the tongue very well, or have the Bond feel?

It'd be cool if Adele could return. Skyfall was a great song.

I love LALD, too, though it's charm is mainly the way it chips into the 70's blaxploitation genre. All the Bond stories set in the Caribbean are good, especially in the original novels.

Nobody suggested a meathead type. You suggested Uma Thurman and based on the rest of your post, it's easy to surmise you chose her based mostly because if her character in the kill Bill movies as someone who could beat the crap out if Bond as you yourself mentioned.
Casting a female as the lead Bond villain as I pointed out (and is only a preferential opinion btw) shouldn't be about her going toe to toe and beating the crap out of Bond; which is why I and others have mentioned actresses that can credibly pull off power, intimidation and a real sense of threat without having to physically spar with Bond.

Nah, QOS was terrible. I can't remember the time a movie dragged that much for me. It felt as long as Casino Royale even though it was about 40 minutes shorter.

I still feel like the Quantum plot has promise, though. If nothing else, it would be strange if an investigation into a massive criminal organization were dropped without explanation.

I just have a feeling that if a female head of Specter or Quantum was EON'S choice they would have it scripted somewhere that she would have a physical confrontation with Bond at some point in the film. And, sorry, but I dislike when stick thin beauties are shown knocking around men who outweigh and outmuscle them by several magnitudes (unless it's Gabrielle Anwar from Burn Notice. Then I give it a pass. ) so I would prefer if said theoretical villain were played by an actress whose athleticism I, and the GA would not question out of hand so easily. I of course also want this type of villain to be portrayed as ruthless and intelligent, with a sense of style and perhaps glamour, as this is Bond we are talking about. Uma is not a bad pick, if all those factors are taken into account. And, no, I am not thinking of some kind of retread of Famke Jansen's character. This would be an arch villain type, I think. Not a henchwoman.
