The "exploding pen" line could simply mean that Q Branch used them at some point in the past (probably the Cold War). It doesn't have to mean that Bond used them, the line is actually rather easy to explain since MI6 existed for DECADES before Craig's Bond came along, no continuity problems here.

It'll be awkward if they cast her as a bond girl

Exactly. Everyone wants a role in Bond, there's never a shortage of these 'stories'. The casting people will choose who they want.

To whom? Most people don't even know who Jeffery Wright is, let alone his wife.

Wright is good. Hope to see him again. I liked Jack Lord and David Hedison too.

Edit: So apparently Moneypenny will have a decent size role in Bond 24 as well.

Quantum Of Solace was the pits. You could skip it after Casino Royale and watch Skyfall without missing a beat.

Never Say Never Again? That movie was so dull. Plus it has the worst theme too.
Still better than Diamonds Are Borever.

The worst Bond films, in my opinion, are as follows:
5. The Man With the Golden Gun
4. Moonraker
3. Diamonds are Forever
2. A View to a Kill
1. Die Another Day

The best Bond films are as follows:
5. Goldeneye
4. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3. Casino Royale
2. Skyfall
1. From Russia With Love, bar none the best imo.

I'd tie Goldfinger with On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but other than that, fully agreed.

I can never quite get into full on hate mode for Moore's run. Yes, there was a slow creep of over the top cheese as his time in the role continued, but he also gave us some fine moments across almost all his Bond films.

TLD is unfocused but also has some sweet moments. And maybe it is nostalgia but I like LTK myself. I can't help but think, seeing GoldenEye that maybe Dalton could have handled that material well is he had been given something like that after LTK. I guess we'll never know. Oh well.

FYEO was a great bond movie, as was Spy who loved me. LALD, while a little interesting, was a fun movie. Moonraker, AVTAK, and MWTGG are awful, as are Diamonds are Forever & D.A.D.. I like LTK, but I don't really mind TLD either way.If I had to make a top ten list it would go:

10. Live and Let die
9. Spy Who Loved Me
8. License to Kill
7. From Russia, With Love
6. For Your Eyes Only
5. Quantum of Solace
4. Goldfinger
3. Casino Royale
2. Goldeneye
1. Skyfall

Well, it worked quite well in Skyfall, so it COULD work here, depending on the writing.

Moore's Bond films are just not very good. I know they have their fans who like to grade them on the "Bond film scale", but as cinema, they just aren't good imo. Even Moore's best films are full of things that just ruin the good scenes.

That is the thing about the best of Connery and Craig so far (plus OHMSS). You don't have to make excuses for FRWL or CR. There is no grading on a curve. They are good to great films, wholesale. Especially Craig's. CR and Skyfall are just a cut above. Legit, full realized films.

On another note, has any film aged worse then Goldeneye? Perhaps TLD, but I am having a hard time naming another. LTK, the Moore films and the rest of Brosnan's run are just bad from the get go. But for a while Goldeneye was one of the best imo. But the more I watch it, the worse it seems to get.

No, I don't agree at all. Goldeneye is just as enjoyable now as the first time I saw it. Die Another Day has aged the worst for me. I enjoyed it when it first came out, when I was 11. Now, it sucks royally. Also, Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only were good, the rest of Moore's films were problematic.

The Spy Who Loved Me is a Bond movie that's up there with Craig's and Connery's movies. Roger Moore was such a badass in it. He drops a guy off a building, shoots another guy in the nuts, kicks a guy out of a train, and prevents Nuclear destruction while a bedding a girl from the opposite side in the process. This movie was the best example how great a range Moore had, but the movies after failed to really capitalize on the success of Spy Who Loved Me.

Moore got the short end of the stick with his movies, but I think Spy, Live and Let Die, and For Your Eyes Only were at least fun and entertaining. The others are chores to sit through, especially Man With The Golden Gun.

Goldeneye is enjoyable, but I use to think it was pretty good. I watch it now, and man it has all the warts. Especially the last act. The best thing about it is the foursome of baddies. So while it is still fun, can't really put in the good movie caterogy imo. It is kinda of like the other bad genre films I watch to have a laugh. Same with TSWLM and FYEO.

I can't take them seriously like CR, Skyfall, FRWL, OMHSS, and Thunderball. Craig's series has reminded the world what these films can be. They don't need to be vapid, simple money making exercises without any real artistic value (though I still love the chase in TSWLM).

Far too much slapstick and just generic crap in TSWLM. Why ignore the vast amount of the film? Stupid sub-car, crappy sidecar rockets, underwater bases, so on and so forth.

How does it measure up to this?

That is how good CR and Skyfall are fore their entire runtime. Actual pain, danger, combat, emotion.

Also, that is how you integrate the potential love interest.

I love the ‘wet nellie’ sub car. It is perhaps the second most famous Bond vehicle after the DB5, and the moment it dives into the water is memorable. I find its best not to judge the Moore films from the viewpoint of other eras. If one wants grit they’ve already predisposed to hate what follows.

An example I like is with Connery he very nearly went into space in YOLT, but didn’t. These themes were touched upon - but not totally. With Moore you go into space with laser guns. It was an even further elevated realm. So I don’t see ‘cheesy’ stuff like sidecar rockets as minuses in the Moore context. They fit right in.

When I defend the Moore tone people make the assumption that’s my main thing with Bond. It’s not. The Connery/Craig angle is my first preference. But with Moore, it is what it is and I don't fight it. So bring on the slide whistles and double taking pigeons. I enjoy it as a loosened up adult.

I enjoyed The Spy Who Loved Me, but the rest of Moore's are abysmal.

Casino Royale and Skyfall are the best overall films, IMO.
