I think he'd have to be to have reached a fairly advanced age in that kind of environment.

Unless he's only 26, and had a hell of a time of it.

I just thought he was an old bambling baffoon who was a Lannister loyalist, especially since you see him do his ramble act with Ros the whore in season 1, but here, he stands up and speaks normally.

He struck me as very dangerous in the books. Moreso than in the show.

When he fishes like that with someone like Pycelle it's easy to watch.

Well Pycelle is one of the people that led Ned to his demise. IIRC he was the one who gave Ned the book about the lineage of the great Houses. Where he learned the truth about Jon Arryn's death.

I wish that scene had been left it.

Pycelle is one of those characters I'd kind of just like to see get thrown out a window, weepy old man charade and all.

had a more direct hand in Ned's death. It seems like there were more, besides, but I can't recall exactly. All I remember is that Pycelle had killed a few noteable people. Made me wish Shagga had been more precise.

I laughed at David Bradley (Walder Frey) saying the Wedding invertations have dried up on the Doctor Who panel.

I love the Starks. They're my favorite family in the series. But, they're done for. I could just be cynical now, but they've been destroyed.

I don't see the Starks getting any retribution. The best they can do is just survive at this point. Bran and Rickon are too young, and probably can't claim anything at any point because they're officially dead. Jon is with the Night's Watch, which to my knowledge is like being a Jedi...so he has no claim to nothing at all.

They might need to get rid of the Stark sigil from from all promotional items next year, considering how much of a non-factor they ought to be. Tough, I've often thought that of Dany too. I mean, her involvement in the story seems about as disconnected as can be too. But, still I guess the theory of "well, she could be a threat..." is what holds up.

I wouldn't worry about it. They'll make a comeback soon enough.

There are a handful of Starks left who can make a come back but they're all too young at this point to do anything effective.

Low numbers and youth are not guaranteed detractors in this series.

For example, the Targaryen clan was introduced as to two siblings with nothing--three seasons later Dany commands a hefty army backed by three members of a previously extinct species, sacking cities and rallying members to their cause.

The Starks are long-sufferers and scattered to the winds, but it's premature to say they're out of the game or won't get retribution.

Dany is also older. 20 something or late teens at the earliest and she literally was sold into her power.

The oldest legitimate Stark is Sansa who is what, 13, 14 years old? Married off already to a Lannister no less. The next is Arya who is slightly younger but better trained and far less naive than her sister about the world. She's still too immature to even take care of herself at this stage.

Then there are the two boys who are both considered dead and might be seen as imposters (being officially dead and all) and will still have several years to go before they can even hit puberty.

So while youth and low numbers is not necessarily walls they are most definitely hurdles they'll have to overcome even more than the Targaryen twins did.

I think Sansa and Dany are supposed to be around the same age in the books, but I don't remember exactly. Dany had it about the same (or worse) as the Starks, being part of a ruling dynasty that was basically being exterminated. She had to go quite a ways to escape her pursuers, just as the Starks seem to be doing (Bran and co to the other side of the wall, Arya and the Hound have to go somewhere now that Lannister allies have killed or captured her kin). And they both have their mythical, seemingly important animals related to their house sigil. Besides, plenty of people (and houses) hate the Boltons, Freys now in addition to already hating the Lannisters.

The Starks might not be raising armies (OR WILL THEY?!), but the remaining Starks have essentially been reset to Dany's position at the beginning of season 1, and she's doing all right (after that power she was sold into got yanked out from under her with the death of Khal Drogo).

Or maybe a snap-freeze will kill them all, who knows.

I can't tell if they just shifted the ages literally, or just made sure to not cast all pre-teens. Part of me wonders if they can still claim to most of the ages being the same, with Sansa's age being mentioned...and it coming off as creepy...around the time of her wedding.

I think it's true, that the Stark's aren't really done for. It just seems that it'd take alot of time. Alot of years.

I think the House of Stark is pretty much finished as a real threat. The only real hope for the survivors is to throw their lot in with Stannis and hope he takes the Iron Throne. Stannis is their only realistic way out of this mess at this point.
