I wonder if the sentinels from the future will be non metal? I'm assuming magneto will be key to winning in combat during the past segments.

That model from the past looks plastic and it's supposed to be 50 years old.

Maybe Trask came up with a substance that is like metal, but immune to magneto's powers.

I'm pretty sure they will be metal.

And if they produce like hundreds of Giant Sentinels, I doubt Magneto's strength is enough to destroy those.

Maybe they have Wolverine's healing abilities like some Sentinels do in the comics.

Magnetic metals (and not all metals are magnetic, gold for example) can be 'degaussed' to remove their magnetic properties (they used to do it to the hull of ships during WW2 to stop them attracting mines).

Wouldn't be a stretch at all for Trask to have done something similar to his robots.

It's not certain yet that Magneto won't have a helmet in future scenes. There were plenty of promo shots of Magneto for X2 where he had no helmet.

I believe ian mckellen said his magneto won't have a helmet in this film, its quoted somewhere

and they were never gonna have fassbender in the helmet all the time in the 70s, but he probably will have it on by the end of the movie

Its really exciting to me that we havent seen any of the 70's costumes yet.

It will be a big reveal once they show all the uniforms, both X-Men uniforms and the Magneto and Quicksilver ones.

We got a glimpse of a different Sentinel design in the Danger Room from Last Stand, am I right? Like a cameo/easter egg.

Yeah I'd forget the X3 design, that's a Ratner film...

Ah ok. Well if that's the case then I'm ok with that, given the setting of DOFP. I would expect to see Fassbender in it a good bit though.

Fassbender's helmet and cape were good. The rest of his costume was kinda meh in that scene (not terrible, but not regal enough for Magneto).

in my opinion FC helmet was a great homage, but the material was totally wrong. And the design a bit.... bad and cosplay looking.

They can do much better than that.

And that prospetic pic just proves how a different material can look much better, without being soo brilliant.

Maybe Erik is an animal lover (Shaw's helmet looked really good as well).

But it was the 60's! Totally forgivable. They literally dragged that look from the pages of the earliest x-men comics. I remember seeing that scene in theaters and just crapping my pants. I have high hopes for the new helmet, it should look amazing on screen. Dare I say.... Perfection.

I remember in the bonus features of X1, about the costume design, they went on about how magneto should have the hood ornament on the helmet, and Ian McKellan standing with a prototype helmet on, trying to mention it to singer.

Ian's helmet was fine in X1 , but Fassbender's worked well to (the costume was a little weird).

I really like the concept, and having the colours, I just thought the material was wrong and the design could be more "adult", if you get what I mean.

perfect example: Ian's helmet on original trilogy. Just add some ornaments like FC helmet, but with a bit different design, and there would you have it.

I can just picture Erik looking in the mirror. I have cool powers, and a cool moniker (than you very much Raven), now all I need is a cool helmet and costume, and a cape, got to have a cape.

*shrugs* it worked for me. I totally get what your saying. But I will take the extreme comic accuracy on this one! they nailed it for DOFP I feel. I'm anxious to see if Ian will have a helmet for the future, I sure hope he does. That's where the realistic, adult design comes heavily into play.
