Grizzly bear scene was really great.

The only thing I felt the movie was sorely lacking was the rest of the ninja fight. It was even in the trailers, for god's sake.

But I've seen it 3 times now, and I really just enjoy the hell out of it as a whole, even with the robo-Samurai at the end. And that probably would have bothered me more if it was out destroying Tokyo or something, but it was still fairly contained for what it was.

And getting to meet Hugh before the movie also makes up for any flaws the movie may have had for me, and has also permanently disabled my ability to be objective about this in any way.

I think if the third act could have been better then this movie would have been much better And I would have given an a 9. Also it would have been cool to see Logan learn to speak Japanese and use a sword

I agree that Wolverine should have fought with a katana at least once. However, I really didn't need to see Logan spend 20 minutes learning Japanese (the fish out of water angle appeals to me).

I agree also that it would have been cool if Wolverine fought with a Katana AT LEAST ONCE in some sort of old fashioned samurai fight.

How cool would it have been if the climax fight was Wolverine in a japanese robe with a Katana fighting the SS in the traditional armour with the moon in the background like at 0:28 in this Wolverine cartoon clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVNMj_f6Zjo

This would have been the PERFECT climax fight for me and the cinematography would have been beautiful with the moon in the background, very atmospheric. This is what we should have got in the third act after the Ninja Fight in the snowy village.

He doesn't need the robe, but the Katana would have been cool. Still, I actually like the climax (I really liked that Mariko played a role in the old douche's downfall).

The level of in these comments is almost too much to comprehend.

Regardless of the film or score, no critic worth anything should say stuff like this, it just defies words really.

Ah well, always a numpty or two around in the critics world, how they get a job doing it

That is pretty much the ending I have in my head.

Agreed, should deffo have used a sword once that Yashida gave him.

But learning a language? People complained there was too much talking already, learning a language in the film would have sent them over the edge

The bits where Mariko shows him about how to handle chopsticks and tie a kimono were plenty enough to show him learning Japanese culture for me, I dont need to see him learn the national anthem........ although Hugh can hold a tune

I wouldn't want him to use that katana legitimately, maybe as something creatively improvised.

There's a vague hint of innuendo in that comment

He really was just flying on pure luck then wasn't he because if Logan hadn't been there she would've been in the hands of the Yakuza.

The flashback within a dream was a good way of opening with why Wolverine has ties to Japan as well as quickly showing how far he'd fallen since X3. The Canada sequence as a whole was meant to be more subdued because it was more ponderous about Logan's current state of hopelessness.
I get what they were doing there but it just seemed like the movie was spinning it's wheels before the actual plot got going. And I didn't like the idea of starting a movie with a dream/flashback within a dream/flashback in Star Trek First Contact as well. It just adds to the 'spinning your wheels' sensation for me.

As for Jean. She was a figment of Logan's imagination. He was hearing what he wanted to hear. That wasn't Jean saying those things and that isn't the Phoenix in the white room.
I figured it was his own imagination but it still tells me that our protagonist is delusional. He's built up this imaginary relationship with a woman he never actually had a relationship with. Lovely.

I'll be honest kedrell. While I do think some things could have done with a better explanation, a lot of what you mention was explained well enough within the movie.
I disagree. I thought the through-line of the story was very muddled. Too many motivations teased but not delved into. Makes the film quite confusing.

The only thing that confused me about the bone claws, was where did the end of his metal claws go? They were in his hand still and were never disconnected.

Logan began to remember stuff about Weapon X in X2, and he knew Stryker's name without being told, so I can buy him remembering Nagasaki. Also, Logan can remember bits and pieces of his past in the comics, but they're scattered and fragmented. He remembers fighting in WWII with Capt America, but doesn't know that James Howlett is his real name.

A bunch of posts just got deleted in here because of some inappropriate language that was posted/quoted. Guys, please remember that you can't post the language, even if you space out the letters to try and censor it.

Thank you.

And he's only remembered the "Logan" part of his name, but never knew whether it was his first name or last name.

He didn't seem to connect Yashida fully until he found the well. And the arch that survived the blast was also the symbol for Yashida's company. That was there when he found the well too.

And his memories of Weapon X really started returning when he went to Akali Lake at the beginning of X2, so this has happened before.

Yep. One of the stupidest reviews from Grace yet. I usually always disagree with her anyways, but what she said about TW was just ridiculous.

"People come to X-Men movies to see mutants, and we didn't get enough of that in this movie." Well, duh, it's called THE WOLVERINE, not X-MEN 4.

So audiences come to a movie, with ACTORS in it, and don't want to see them act, ok. If that is true, then Megan Fox is the biggest movie star on the planet, right, I thought not. Also, wasn't one of the biggest complaints about X2/Origins that there were TOO MANY Mutants who served no real purpose? Grace's complaint makes NO SENSE.
