I dont mind seeing the black suits like in the movie but i would like them seen closer to the comics and wolverine to have a mask even black in a scene or two or a helmet that looks like it he uses against a very tough opponent.

The costumes look like suits that you would wear during a war, which DOFP is.

Logan's XF costume (black and grey) would look awesome on screen. The orange and black one could also probably work. The yellow and blue run COULD work, but you'd need to be careful. They had costumes in FC, so they're not completely against it. Also, DOFP is a worst case scenario, so I don't see them being overly concerned with elaborate outfits, merely with survival.

I think it was cool having the elaborate costumes in FC It suited the look of the period, I really like the futuristic costumes and the originals also

It could work as long as the out fit was given a purpose, not just there for the sake of having it. Function as well as form to justify it.

For example the red eyes could be used as night vision enhancement, like googles, so there is a point to having them in the movie.

The hardest part would be why the shape of his head, or the "ears" are needed, hmmmmmm I must ponder more.

It could be that the Sentinels have registered the faces of their greatest threat: The X-Men. Wolverine Wears the mask so he is not spotted as he goes around trying to rescue mutants from Sentinels.

I'm kind of surprised so many people are happy with the costumes. They're rather plain compared to what we've seen in the past. I wonder whether they incorporate some kind of way to block the Sentinels mutant tracking technology.

So you are saying the leather costumes are better?

This is basically a worse case scenario. Them having overly elaborate costumes wouldn't make sense in context, they're desperate and trying to survive.

Designwise? Yeah, I think so. Certainly more "X-Men", with a more interesting design.

These are pretty much leather costumes too, aren't they? At least it seems like it in certain pictures we've seen. They're just less detailed ones with slightly more obvious armored plating.

And I get that, and they're appropriate for such a scenario. I'm just surprised there's so much "These are so much better than those leather suits" type reactions when they have even less color and are arguably less interestingly designed than the original costumes were.

With the leaked pictures of Prof X/Magneto/Colossus/Bishop and even Storm.

I think there's more detail /individuality to these new costumes compare to the leather costumes.

I never hated the leather suits. A lot of people are judging the original films by comparing them to movies today, which isn't fair. Today, we know that GA will except many of the more outlandish things from the comics. However, they didn't know that back then since the only recent successful CBM at that time was Blade. They did what the thought they had to in order to help the movie succeed. The fact that the FC costume were more colorful shows that they're learning.

Better hair than we got in X1, definitely. But the blue spotted top is dreadful.

I didn't hate the leather black suits and leather suits/black suits are still in when it comes to superhero films, look at the outfits of the S.H.I.E.L.D. for example.

The main problem with X-Men is their costumes are just too colorful. With Daredevil/Elektra, FOX easily got away giving those two characters a red costume since those two were not part of a superhero team. With Blade/Spider-Man, I doubt they had a problem adapting their costume into film. With Fantastic Four, they wear matching blue costumes in the comics. But X-Men? its a big challenge to give them those bright colored costumes even in this decade. Look at Captain America with his blue/red costume, a lot of people didn't like his costume in The Avengers.

Well. First, if I was to choose between the costumes in X1/X2/X3 and those seen in FC:

I'd pretty much immediately go with FC. I like the colorful costumes even if Bryan Singer doesn't. But since neither wardrobe is particularly relevant to this film, I have a few more thoughts.

Mystique looks better in this than ever before, probably just because of ten years of technology:

Magneto looks better in this than ever before, still wish there was a little more color than the drab purple we see in this image:

Bishop looks awesome. Beast's new makeup looks awesome, but Kelsey pulled it off better. I don't care one way or the other about the dystopia armor we see Xavier/Mags/Wolvie in. It looks good, just not very exciting to me. Also don't care much about the 1970s apparel. I enjoy a well done period film, just doesn't sway me one way or another.

Haven't really noticed the supposed Yellow/Black Wolverine costume or Green/White Rogue costumes... Also haven't seen anything resembling costumes for Xavier or Beast. So I'm definitely hopeful.

I preferred Magneto's more colourful helmet from the end of First Class.

He does look a bit drab in the new image, I have to agree.

And it seems the helmet is made of metal since that magazine shot showed him pulling it out of the glass display case.

seriously is it purple?? it really does look red to me, well it looks like a brownish sorta red but red none the less (singer and his dark colors), it probably doesn't help the angle and shadowy lighting

i'm really betting its red if this picture is him in the same outfit
