It always has (ALWAYS) and it is a well known item that she is closely associated with. People are aware of WW having the lasso, just like they know Cap has a shield or Thor has a hammer or that Batman has a snazzy belt.

Lasso. No truth. I originally didn't even want a lasso, but someone posted some cool gifs.

Keep the truth portion. Its just a secondary property of a mythical god item. Kind of like how Thor's Hammer has the Worthy enchantment on it.

Keep the lasso. Leave out the truth-inducing power.

OK how about this? Keep the lasso, but give it a plausible pseudo science explanation.

I.E. the lasso has tiny barbs on it that pierce the skin slightly. Diana soaks the lasso with a special chemical made on the island that produces similar effects to sodium pentothal but without the drowsy side effects.

You're joking right? How about we just leave it at it's a magic lasso with the power to compel people to tell the truth. Why does everything have to be changed?

No. Leave the lasso as is. It's been a major part of WW's arsenal since the 40's, there's absolutely no reason to change it.

I can't think of another plausible explanation for it. I'd be happy for Snyder to just go with "It's magic" but something about the mood and tone of MOS tells me we're going to get Thoresque explanations for the Greek gods i.e. interdimensional beings or something.

I just hope they stay far away from the "Made of clay" origin and stick with the New 52 daughter of Zeus version.

I have a bad feeling we may get something entirely different. I hope that's not the case though.

That rumor about Amazonians being the descendants of the Kryptonian scout ship made me shudder with disgust.

I actually think the Kryptonian descendants thing a brilliant work around. I'm fine with the lasso being just a tool and not being some form of lie detector.

The thing is that it's a cop out. If you're going to explain WW as being part Kryptonianm then you pretty much have to do the same thing for Aquaman, Vandal Savage and any other character with a mythological/pseudo science background.

Green Lantern's ring could be a Kryptonian energy weapon. Hawkmans wings, why that's just Kryptonian Victoria's Secret costumes.

It depends how they do it. If there's an interrogation and it goes around someone's neck or something, it could easily been seen as some goon telling the truth because he's feeling threatened.

I've heard this 'cop out' statement before towards this idea and I struggle to see the logic in that argument. It fixes the very real problem of getting a fantasy character like WW into the Sci-fi world of MoS, it's actually quite brilliant in that sense. Now if you don't like the idea that's fine, I wouldn't be particularly fond of it if it were a WW in her own universe not connected to this film, but to call it a cop out is frankly not a fair assessment on the idea because it fits the mold of the world MoS set up extremely well.

MoS isn't science fiction. it's science fantasy.

If it was science fiction Kryptonians wouldn't look like humans.

Dude, c'mon, 'alien' humans have been around in sci-fi since virtually day one.

It's a particularly prevalent trope I'll agree with you there but it does divide serve to define hard sci fi from pop sci fi like Star Trek which is really science fantasy dressed up as sci fi.

MoS is pure fantasy. Laser beam eyes, flight? Superman may be
An alien but his powers are science fantasy. If laser beam eyes can exist in the DC movies So can an immortal Greek warrior.

Tying WW's origin to Krypton does not make it anymore plausible.

Wow. People still have a pretty misguided view of what Nolan meant by "grounded realism".

Actually it does. It's fine not to like it, but you can't say it doesn't work.

I never said I don't like it. I love comics and their pseudo science and fantasy.

I'm just saying that MoS while taking place on an earth that looks and feels gritty and real doesn't mean that the concepts and characters it presents aren't fantastical.

Keep the lasso. Have the truth power to it revealed in her own movie.
